AU is going to be a tough out. Fingers crossed in hoping HSC can pull out the victory.

I agree Coach Adams has done a great job in Danville.  I would like to see AU join the ODAC and make the conference even better.

The last thing the ODAC needs is another full-time member. With the exception of football, the conference is overstocked with teams. Some sports, like women's basketball, are ridiculous. Both soccer programs are now not able to do round robins. It's a mess. I'm amazed they took Ferrum as a full-time member.

Valid point.  Maybe it would be in the best suits Guilford and Averett to flip flop conferences.  Logistically speaking it would seem to be a win win.  Just something to discuss as we prepare for the best week of the year.

I'm in favor of keeping GC in the ODAC for many reasons. ODAC needs no further additions unless a current member leaves the conference and hopefully that will not happen. Can't speak for GC but I'm certain GC prefers ODAC vs. any other conference.

Unless the USASAC splits into northern and southern pieces, which they won't do for football anyway, there is no advantage to any ODAC school leaving. The travel and expense in the USASAC is significantly higher. Guilford does not want to go to Huntingdon every other year. Shenandoah is much closer. There is a reason both Shenandoah and Ferrum wanted in the ODAC and out of the USASAC.

Predictions for week one in the ODAC ?

Week 1 Predictions? Not sure I can handle that.

RMC at JHU    14 - 28    I still think JHU has more horses, but I expect this will be a pretty good game until the 4th.
Huntingdon at Guilford   35-21  Not expecting Guilford to win this one again. Huntingdon is much improved, Guilford seems to have peaked a few years ago
E&H at Ferrum  7 - 21  Welcome to the conference Ferrum. Get that first win up front.
Shenandoah at Methodist  49 - 14. I don't think much of Methodist. I think Shenandoah has a solid offense.
Bridgewater at Gettysburg 21 -24 Pillow fight of the week? This looks like a toss up to me
HSC at Averett  35 - 24  I think this is the best game of the bunch. Averett could hang with H-SC, but I think H-SC will have the offense to pull away in the second half
W&L at Dickinson -- 42 - 21. I expect W&L to win their road opener for the first time in 40 years.

Not sure I see HSC putting up 35 on AU; only scored 17 last year and I believe RMC on scored 17 vs. AU the following week as well. I I know both were 3 point games)
If ODAC wins all but one OOC game this week, I'll consider that to be a positive.

AU graduated a lot on defense. They bring back a lot on offense. I expect teams will score on them a bit more, but will also be scored on more. Plus I think HSC will have a better offense this year than last year.

-Emory had a fluke year that was driven by poor senior leadership and bad team chemistry that started after the W&L win. They will be back in the running this year. The new QB is much more athletic than Satxon was and will work much better in the RPO.

- Shenandoah very well might win the ODAC

- I am so happy that I discovered this board. As a recent player It feels so good to be connected with the conference even if I cant make it to games every Saturday. Looking forward to a fun season!

I think Fleenor is going to be a problem for every team.  That dude is a BEAST.  I agree EHC is going to surprise some teams and may very well start it this week.  The Crooked road game last year was unbelievable. 

The Hornets have an offense that can score real, quick, fast and in a hurry.  The O-line and QB will be very good.  They graduated some pass catchers and will be adjusting a little.  The problem they run into is that there defense gets left on the field for long periods of time.  Teams like W&L for example will ground and pound a defense into submission, and they prey on wearing the other team out.

In my opinion, there is like 3 or 4 teams that could easily win the conference.  The margin between the teams is really close. 

As a fellow newbie I look forward to discussing football with everyone.

More veteran posters (with 200 posts or more) have the ability to affect any user's karma by adding one on the positive or negative side. You can only affect any individual once in a 24-hour span.

Generally it's one of those things you look at too late. Once you end up in some kind of online disagreement with another poster and then realize they have -1000 and +200 and realize you just shouldn't have engaged...

  Yeah, the +k or -k don't actually DO anything, but if you take part in the discussions here you will pick some up as a matter of course. The more inflexibly opinionated a poster is the more likely it is that he will collect them, so as jknezek alluded if you find someone with two or three times as much negative as positive it doesn't really pay to get into a debate.
