RMC playing well enough to lose.

That's sure what it looked like the first 20 minutes when I had to leave. Then I was able to follow audio in the second half. Sounded like things didn't change a lot the rest of the way, but the Jackets did enough to come back and win.

Wow Southern Virginia

HSC cannot throw the ball down field. Half of the completed passes were screens or shovel passes on jet sweeps. When they try to throw upfield it seems more often to be a jump ball. Weird thing is the OL is giving QB time to make the throws.  Zero sacks the last two weeks but 9 interceptions!  That makes no sense.  It's looks like it's going to be a very long season for the Tigers.

And sadly it appears that all the eggs were put into one basket at QB with Clay Vick as the only other options are another senior who is even less experienced than the inexperienced Vick and a sophomore who joined the team after committing to play baseball at H-SC. Nine interceptions in two weeks, several of which have been an ugly display of poor decision making. And of the two TD passes he has in those two games, one was simply a forward toss to a sweeping Costello. At least last week he had the excuse of being without the running and receiving services of Kaleb Smith, and thus essentially having zero running backs to operate with since Kaleb is the only one capable of running the ball.

Finals so far with E&H still playimg at Bluefield

W&L 43 - H-SC 24
SU 26 - GC 7
BC 40 - SVU 6
R-MC 31 - FC 10

Both R-MC and Ferrum went with first time starting QBs. Neither team's star RB (Frederick amd Mann) was able to break free and each had under 100 yds. R-MC's passing game looked crisper than in the first three games.

Have to wonder how hot that seat is getting for Marty these days. Getting straight-up embarrassed in ODAC games is starting to become a common thing for the Tigers.

I try to not be overly critical about HSC. I certainly don't want to see any one lose their job. Marty has done amazing things at HSC. He deserves every benefit of doubt. So although I'm sure he's feeling the heat I'd think he puts more pressure on himself than worrying about external pressures. There are many issues that need to be addressed at HSC. The most pressing would seem to be finding some way to score. 4 games into the season and only 7 offensive TDs. Only 2 offensive TDs in 2nd half 3 if you count overtime.

I wonder what happened that Pedro started freshman Presley Egbers over Senior Burke Estes yesterday?? Did he simply just beat out the 3 year starter or is Estes hurt or some other problem....I know the passing game hasn't exactly been great for the Jackets but Egbers missed some receivers yesterday also..even though the passing game "looked crisper" overall......just a curiosity....

^^^ I missed some of the broadcast so didn't hear an explanation for the QB change. I only caught one comment that makes me think it was a coaching decision and not an injury to Estes.

As a fan I'd be happy with a coaches decision too. But this different than Nick Saban benching Hurts for Tua. Quality D3 teams are built on the backs of upperclassmen not freshmen. I know Pedro would not have made the decision if he did not feel it gives him the best chance to win. He may be right about the young guy's abilities vs the senior's. But if his decision effects the locker room, it could be bad for the team. I doubt for this decision he went with his gut. He had to be able to point to something more concrete than a feeling.

Regardless of the situation at RMC, I'm betting that Marty wishes he had a freshman QB that can win a game by 21 points.
