Interesting match-ups this weekend.  On paper, I think they'll all be competitive except for BC/HSC, however I'm pulling for HSC and the upset.

I'll be at Ferrum this week for Guilford's game versus the Panthers.  I bet it's been 20 years since I attended a football game there.

While in Salem, Oregon next week to visit my sister, I also plan to attend the Willamette at Linfield game in McMinnville as well as see the legendary Howard Hughes plane, the Spruce Goose.  I've been to McMinnville and the Air Museum before, but my first game at Linfield.

Has the feel of an English 3rd division soccer stadium.  One side is covered.  Retro cool. Unless they've made major changes.  Enjoy.

Former Hampden-Sydney RB Matt DeMasi with a 9 yard TD run for Bridgewater. 6-0 after Weis PAT failed. Over 13 minutes left in 1st quarter.

Vick to Dillon Costello for 11 yard TD pass. HSC 7, BC 6 with over 6 minutes left in 1st quarter.

Chad Jones 4 yard rush makes it 13-7 BC. 5 Minutes and 16 seconds until half.

ODAC teams can basically name the score against H-SC this year, SAD!

SU was a tough out.  Turnovers killed SU.  They are a very good team.

This felt to me like a more competitive game than the stats and score suggest. Turnovers killed SU -- three interceptions and two lost fumbles. The real killer was the fumble after an R-MC punt put SU on their own 3 yard line. On the first play the SU running back had the ball knocked loose and a Jacket defender picked it out of the air and was in the end zone in one step. The R-MC defense was good all game and the offense got the running game going several times to use the clock and score TDs. SU has a good passing game, just couldn't put it together enough to score more.

Additional SU/RMC thoughts.  The SU offense is very talented.  So, the RMC defense was outstanding today.  The other big winners of today's game was the RMC O-line.  RMC has had a lot injuries this year, especially on the O-line, lots of players have been on the field in the O-line.  So, today's combination of O-line players was working, with two 100 yard rushers today.  For the third game a freshman QB played and played well in place of injured senior QB, demonstrating the depth of the RMC program.  Overall, RMC's best game this year, much more physical, an improving team.
