Alright Region III fans, I'm willing to run the Regional Weekly Top 10 if I can get a balanced panel. If you are interested, you can either PM me or reply to this message and if I get enough responses maybe we can start next week. Looking for 1 or 2 people from each conference, but if I can get 5 voters total spread through at least 3 of our conferences I'll take it.

We'll run it mostly the same way Ralph has been doing it for years. Ranked 1-10 votes are due to me by PM by Tuesday at midnight, so if you can't commit to that, please don't offer. It's just not going to be worth it for me if I have to track people down every week. Votes will be anonymous in the published poll, but voters are free to discuss or post their own submissions.

It's a lot of fun, you learn about a lot of teams, and sometimes generates some good discussion. I always like being challenged on why I did things, but if you don't want to engage, that's fine also.

Guilford... needs a lot of improvement. 42-0 in the second quarter.

jknezek

W&L posts an even 400 rushing yards... in the first half.

Generals go to Ashland and pull off a last second win with a touchdown on a play started with 1 second left and a 2 pt conversion to follow. Big win for the Generals. The home/away schedule looks favorable for the Generals now, but in the ODAC who knows?

HSC played the worst 1st half I had seen in the 13 years I’ve followed them. Actually the 3rd period was not much better. In their first 3 possessions of the 2nd half the fumbled, and threw 2 ints. However GC did nothing with those turnovers. GC let HSC hang around long enough to allow them a chance to win. HSC scored a TD At the end of the third to make it 14 to 20. They made it 21-20 with about 9 minutes to go in the game. GC answered with a drive that took another 5 1/2 minutes off the clock. So with 3:34 remaining and GC up 5 they KICKED the extra point!  WTF?  HSC promptly takes it down and scores the game winning TD. I have no idea as to what the GC coach was thinking but that was  huge mistake.

This was an ugly win but hey a win is a win!

That was a good game by both teams. An impressive 99 yard drive for the Generals to win. So hard to contain their run game. Practically impossible to stop them for negative yardage and tough to keep them to no gain. So when they had the ball on the one yard line with one second on the clock I didn't think the Jackets could stop the TD or the two point conversion. Congrats.

The Generals are deep this year. More seniors and juniors than I've seen. They will be a tough out for anyone. If that 99 yard drive doesn't spur them on to a great season I don't know what will. The ending of the game was almost the opposite of 2 years ago on Ashland when RMC marched down late for the win. Just that kind of game when these teams square up. RMC will be a tough opponent for everyone else this season. The Generals should be bouncing off the walls to get that win.

Hard to win when you pass for less yards than W&L as well!

y_jack_lok

^^^ Yes, especially when one of those W&L passes was a 78 yard TD.

jknezek

Considering W&L gave up a turnover on their own 1 yard line on a punt snap we can probably call those even...

W&L played a good game (particularly the last drive and the two point conversion). They deserved the win. Congratulations to the Generals. It was a disappointing day for the Yellow Jackets.

It'll be interesting to see R-MC and W&L take on Ferrum. Those 3 teams seem to be the class of the conference right now. I just can't take H-SC all that seriously having seen Guilford play the week before.

I agree that having seen the Guilford game the week prior that HSC’s 1 point does not appear to be an impressive victory.

In the OCAC comparing scores is not always the best way of predicting success or failure.  In 2013 HSC lost to SU 35/36, HSC beat Guilford 52/0 meanwhile RMC beat SU 49/7 and lost to GC 21/28.

Also I agree that WL and RMC seem to be the class of the conference but in my opinion a 1 point victory over Guilford is actually more impressive that a 2 point victory over Apprentice.

It’s early in the season no reason for any team to lose hope yet!

Good one in Farmville. 24 all early in 4th. Generals can't stop H-SC passing. And H-SC selling out on the run early in the game has cost them huge pass plays as the game goes on. The offenses definitely having their way as the game goes on.

jknezek

Generals make it as hard as possible but escape H-SC with a win. 32-30. Generals with 4 tds, 4 2pt conversions.  But late in the 4th they went up 32-24, gave up a long pass on a slipped db, pushed H-SC to 4th and goal before giving up a rb jump ball pass for a td. Held on the 2 pt conversion, then gave up the onside kick before finally holding out. Just a huge mix of good and ugly, but a second road W in a row is always good in the ODAC.

On a side note, how Guilford hung with H-SC last week is beyond me. Those teams are on a completely different level.
