We at Wabash are cautiously optimistic this year.  Our offense is going to be really good but our defense, especially our pass defense, was not up to standard last year.  We have a new Defensive Coordinator so all bets are off right now.  Wabash will score points on Saturday.  It will either be a shoot-out or a blowout - I don't see a low scoring game.  What I do know is that it is going be damn hot on that field - forecast high of 90 and sunny.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend.

Very impressed with the Hampden-Sydney offense. You guys have some playmakers and I thought that you were going to score every single drive. Good luck the rest of the year.

For those who came up for the game, safe travels back and see you next year!

The Guilford-Greensboro game was quite entertaining. Greensboro might have won were it not for being heavily penalized, including three touchdowns that were called back due to penalties.

Good wins for Bridgewater and Shenandoah. Tough loss for H-SC - but they looked really good offensively.

Looking forward to tonight's games.

Looks good. So did the Jackets.
They did look better than I thought given the quarterback situation.  Your first string QB is injured, your 2nd string QB (former ODAC POY) transfers, you start a senior QB who didn't even play QB last year, and then bring in a new transfer QB (from a DII school) who plays the whole second half.  So, yes, they played well, albeit against probably the weakest team on the schedule, but I'll take it.  Defense was a huge part of the win, holding NCWU to zero yards rushing!

Two weeks in a row HSC gives up a TD in the final minute to lose the game. It's hard to watch. Widener only had 4 processions in the second half. A 15 play drive For a FG, a 3 and out, and a 1i play drive for a TD and 13 play drive for a TD. By my count in the second half Widener went 10 of 13 on 3rd down conversions and 1 for 1 on 4th down. 9 of these conversations were 6 yards or more.

Also the HSC QB was injured on the last play of the game.

Looks nice with it being "framed" in by all the other buildings.

Last week: Apprentice over Averett at Averett; CNU over W&L at W&L

This week: Averett over CNU at CNU.

Oct 1: Averett at W&L should be really interesting.

The ODAC has a new bowl partner starting in 2023!  The Landmark conference, Wilkes, Lycoming, Susquehanna, Catholic, Moravian, and someone I'm forgetting will be the new dance partner. Two games, 1vs2 for each conference. Some will be on campus to start and then move to a neutral site.

This is a huge improvement over NNA. All respect to those guys, especially this year as they seem to be having one of their very strong teams, but that opponent never fired me up.

Here's hoping the Chesapeake Challenge will be a success! My parents are Wilkes grads, and I flew up to watch W&L get crushed by Wilkes in the 2006 playoffs first round. I'd love to see a rematch with my Dad again.

**** add Juniata as the school I was missing.

^^^ Juniata is the other football team in that conference.

In reality the bowl series will feature the 2nd and 3rd teams in each conference since the conference champions will be playing in the NCAA tournament.

Yeah. I should have been more clear about that. Good correction

Congratulations to Coach Favret for his 143 win yesterday. From HSC's website -

With the victory, 23rd-year Hampden-Sydney head coach Marty Favret now totals 143 football coaching wins with the Tigers, tying legendary H-SC Hall of Fame head coach J. Stokeley Fulton, who is the winningest and longest-tenured football coach at the College. Coach Favret now has an overall record of 143-84, while Coach Fulton compiled a record of 143-99-5 over 25 seasons from 1960-84.
