The guy who owns that gas station in Atlanta selling for $6/gallon got arrested for it.  Greedy bastard.

I actually think there is something in the water in Virginia right now.  Va Tech is a national contender every year. JMU won the D- 1A national title last year. William and Mary almost made it to the title game until playing JMU in the playoffs. The USAC has national title contenders with Shenandoah and CNU. THe ODAC is 500 times more competitive than it was 15 years ago. The ODAC actually has the potential of placing 2 schools in the playoffs this year if all the schools play to their potential. So overall I think VA ain't hurtin for football talent.

I was right with you until..."the USAC has national title contenders..."  That's where you lost me.  They don't.

EHCTailgate

Playoff contenters then. How does that sound?

Sorry BC, I was mistaken about Mcdaniel.  I guess when you are as successful as you have been it is hard to find opponents.
Good Luck.  I hope EHC can do the ODAC proud against the OAC this week.  If they get blown out and then compete in the ODAC it could spell bad things for two teams going to the post season.
52 Days till we meet you by the tracks.

It's ok EHCFAN.  It happens to all of us sometimes.  The club team WAS an issue of controversy on here when BC was scheduling.  This is the result of PAC expansion when Thomas More dropped us to play a PAC school.  After that our options were either Rowan, CNU (whom we had just dropped) or George Mason's club team.  I still don't like the idea of playing a club team but that is neither here nor there as I don't make decisions for BC football.  I hope that helped fill you in on the BC scheduling adventure, and by the way good luck in Ohio.  Any out of confrence win will help to get to ODAC teams into the playoffs. ;D

Good point.... would say that the difference even between 1998 and 2001 in the ODAC is amazing in both skill, talent and depth of rosters... the speed of the league is arguably near the top, Catholic was the only power team when they joined in 2000 and have since shifted gears...
Can you smell what the CHEEKS is cooking??

Less than 35 hours away...

This board is ALIVE, want to make comments on two previous discussions:

Cuaplayers comment about "a players' (i.e. which includes an ex-players') opinion" and Ricca "having legs" -

the point is that rushing stats do not equate to a players ability to use his legs... moving a pocket, throwing throwback screens, running boots, evading pressure when 5-step brakes down, and running for 5 yards and a first down instead of getting sacked are pretty important when playing the quarterback position.  As far as I'm concerned, unless the option is a legitimite part of your offense (ala Lutz, who had the ability to do both equally well - run and make a good throw with time) you don't want to have to rely on your QB to have huge rushing numbers.  For example, just like a senior lineman or a freshman reciever who makes the last block doesn't get credit or isn't noticed by most people watching or listening to the game, an explayer can appreciate a QB who turns a potential loss into a makeable third down.  So my bottom line is that #10 uses his legs extremely well... receivers will stay alive and HOME RUNS will result from it.

More simply, I agree with Mr. Parker's statement: his legs make him the player he is just as much as his arm, his football mind, and his grasp of the offense.

The second discussion ironically is linked to the first:

The sarcastic reaction to #14 (Cua's QB)'s "another undefeated team" statement -

1. As newera just mentioned, the CUA teams of the late 90's (which happened to be cuaplayer's underclassmen years) were pretty darn good.  Oh yeah, and their QB was pretty good as well.
2. It has been a realistic goal since coming into the 2003 season for HSC to go 10-0.

So it's pretty easy to see why #14 would have such high expectations / aspirations.

pre-GAME DAY.

"Praise God from all blessings flow", opening day for D3 football is almost upon us. Good luck to whoever you favorite team maybe. Take time to remember and pray for the folks in the Gulf Coast areas. Teams such as Milsaps, LSU,and Tulane will not have an opening day for a while. Lets keep this game of football in perspective and remember it's just a game. PEACE---- I am the E&H Dad

As a lifelong BC football fan (I attended many games in the 1980's as a kid), I am a little nervous about the injury bug. 3 of the Eagles toughest games are in the first 4 weeks and Young may not be back for the HSC game.
Losing RB Matthews and LB Smith our top tackler does not help either. Granted, we still have some depth at RB where Washington is very talented and Langley started as a Freshman.
Look, I think BC is still a very good team and we will likely finish in the top 2 in the ODAC but for now HSC is the favorite. I will be at the McDaniel game and expect to win a close one but Shenandoah dominated time of possession and yardage against BC last year. The Eagles had a great special teams effort to win. That will be a very close game.
There are 4 more playoff spots but with only 9 games the Eagles probably need to win the ODAC to go into the playoffs. We could win at HSC, we have had their # the past 5 years but Ricca is a very good QB.
Jermaine Taylor may have a shot to make the Bucs, we will have to wait and see. Don't like to drown the BC optimism but that is how it looks to me. Go BC!

I'll see you BC people at the game tomorrow.  Everyone have a safe trip.

My pick this week is that BC gets revenge for last years loss by a 17-13 score. Should be a great game and Washington should rush for over 100 yards.
The McDaniel D is pretty tough.

I would still like to see HSC play some defense before calling them a favorite.  They have had some great offenses but until you stop someone from scoring you struggle to beat good teams.  Unfortionatly we will not see them face a good team until week five.  Also the nine game schedule should have no impact on the playoffs since the factors are divided by nine rather than ten for a team with a nine game schedule.  I hear the BC defense played very well in the Hargrave scrimage but that is still not live.  But as all others point out you have to beat the top dog to become the top dog.
