Uncle Jessie

BC had the ball for the final play of the game and instead of taking a kneel to end the game they run off a play to run up the score. That is uncalled for. Everyone around me in the stands were upset and when I got in my car I heard how upset the guys were on the radio also. Here is what they said on this. " Its like rubbing salt in the wound on the Hornets. It shows what a piece of trash the BC coach is for doing that and one day some where its going to come back on BC. Maybe it wont be SU that will do it to them but that is un called for and one day some team is going to do it to them. " 100% right! The head coach from BC is trash for doing that. These are college students NOT PROFESSIONALS. They had no reason for doing that. I don't fault the BC players for this. They are just running the play that was called. Its the head coach that did that all the way. One day as long as Barnes is the head coach, SU is going to remember this and it wont be pretty.  They had the game won by a long shot. Purely a trash move on the BC side. I hope the guys on here dont take it to personal about this. The BC fans were great and Im sure your team is going to go far once again this year. But to do that last play like that was pure wrong from BC.

I totally agree with you. I dont want to keep talking about it. It's over and obviously BC has had our number in the past. Trust me, I look forward to talking about another HSC-Bridgewater game...you think its fun to talk about getting beat 4 years in a row? HAHA Things happen, there are missed calls every game, and I agree with you that HSC got beat up pretty bad last year. I've never denied that. However, conversation was sparked up again over the HSC-BC series in defense of some of my past teammates and good friends.  No bad blood on my end, I enjoy a little trash talking and I look forward to October 1st when we have another game to talk about, but until then if one of my boys gets trashed on here i'll be here in his defense.

Uncle Jessie:  I don't know if you remember or not but we (BC) were in the semi's of the D3 playoffs and we got beat 66-0.  I'm not saying Mt. Union ran up the score.  Actually it was the opposite.  They were kicking field goals on 2nd and 3rd downs.

I liked your first post but to call Coach Clark and what he did "trash" I'd have to disagree.  Before I comment further, I need to talk to people who were actually at the game.  I listened to every play on the internet (Thanks to D3Football.com and the links they provided) but I don't recall the radio guys saying we were running it up.  I would call it insurance.  Remember last week, we (BC) lost by one point after being up 33-14 at half.  I call it making sure we win.  Again, I wasn't there but I think you may be a bit off calling what Clark did as "trash."

My two cents...I know...not worth much.

Uncle Jessie

They did say that and were talking about it after the game. Just like the radio guys said" it's like rubbing salt in the wound of the Hornets." They had no reason on doing what they did. SU was killed in every way. Pure trash move from the BC staff to do that to a bunch of college students.

HSCTiger2:  You're all right in my book.  You're right about calls.  We've had our share of them go our way over that past 5 years, no doubt.  I just hope they keep going our way.  I too like some good trash talking and welcome it but to keep beating a dead horse is not too productive.  I just can't wait until 10/1/05.  We plan on coming up and having a good time.  You guys have a great atmosphere and two years ago when I was there someone introduced some Virginia's own White Lightning.  Ouch!  It was a great time and a great game.  I just hope the officials do a better job on both sides.  As you might recall, we got our fair share of "bad" calls.  There I go, I thought I was supposed to stop typing about it...Anyway, I hope you plan on being there.  We'll be the drunks outside of the Stadium.  Wait, how will you know who I am.  If I said I'd be sober than you could probably find me....

Let the games begin!!!!

Uncle Jessie

you call it "insurance"?? was not BC up 49-20? what more insurance do they need with a few seconds left in the game?

Jessie,  Again, I didn't listen to the SU broadcast which might explain why I didn't hear that.  I listened to the BC crew out of Harrisonburg and nothing that I recall was mentioned.  I'd have to look at the box score and play by play before deciding.  49-20 isn't trash.  Especially with 2nd and 3rd stringers in.  I call it good coaching to get some game experience.  I can't help our 2nd and 3rd stringers got a score on your 1st stringers.

Again, my two cents for whatever that's worth.

I dont know if trash is the right word, with the injuries at tailback that was a true freshman in there who clark could have been tryin to evaluate, i know washington has looked like a beast these past two weeks but until winston gets back clark has to find guys to help marcus carry the load some. if on the last play of the game he had dropped back and threw it then its trash and running up the score, instead he ran and offtackle play that went for 3 yards, i really dont call that trash.

I respectfully submit. I was not there either; however, as Doc Holiday in "TOMBSTONE" said "I'd beg to differ suh". I know you remember leading 52 at half  against GC and opened the 2nd half with a on side kick, Circa 2000. BC on more than a few occasion has the proclivity (I think is the word) to run it.

Anyway you guys are good. I have to admit.

Uncle Jessie,
I think it is going a bit far to call that last score a trash move. That series you had a new QB and new players and there were plenty of opportunities to stop them. I think it would be poor coaching to put in second teamers and ask them to lay down.

Gal

Well said, justafan! I agree that BC's coach giving 2nd and 3rd stringers experience isn't "trashy", but smart.

There's no way to win without hurting the other team's feelings or "rubbing salt in the wounds".  If you kneel the ball, you're rubbing in the fact that you're winning and not giving them a chance to even play. If you continue playing, you're trashy for doing what you're there to do, play football...

I COULD be wrong, but I don't recall the song going, "put me in coach, I'm ready to kneel the ball so we don't hurt the other team's feelings"  :P

That was our Homecoming which I don't remember.  I was in the parking lot.

Again, opinions....everyone has them.....So I respect yours.

You're right. If they cannot stop the back ups than they are in a world of poopie. Spoken with restraint and character as usual sir.

Yes Skoal. My two times at STone Station I spotted you and your harum of winches and a covered container of.....I'm sure pineapple juice.  ;) I say that with envy and admiration.

I envy the BC crowd as my team Lees-McRae dropped football in 95. I miss the same things you BCers enjoy 12 or 13 times a year. Or was 14 one year?

But again it's the nature of football for some things to distorted when you lose.

enough about that "trashy" talk, there were alot of good things that came out of tonight, shenandoah looks like they have a kid who they can build there offense aroudn if they choose to do so in lacey, very fast, great moves, great vision. BC oline looked great tonight, without guard paul getty they still played great, and just to sum it up if u were ever to have a convo with coach clark then it would be easy to tell that he is anything but trashy, those players practice everyday all week too and when they get in its there time to shine and they did, congrats and good luck to shenandoah, yall still have a solid team
