I know Hanover offense is good but BC D may not be as good as in the past?

Jeremybozz

BC wins a shootout. Looks like the year 2000 Eagles today.

D3Waterboy

What do ya get when the first team offense scrimmages against the 3rd team defense? You get almost 100 points and +1,100 yards...ya get the 2005 version of the Bridgewater vs. Hanover game.

xbcdad

1130 yds of offense ...when are the BC
DBs going to learn to look for the ball. According to the BC announcers the D was not very impressive. Webster looked looked as great as Ricca >:(  Of  oourse, so did Jake  Lewis. Apparently the offense was able to take advantage of the hanover D very effectively. We've got to get better on Defense or somebody in the ODAC will take advantage.

Meanwhile Kudos to the Cards on a great game!

this the teams will score over 100 combined points and it could look very similar to the BC/W&J game in 2004 playoffs.
Good to get Winston Young and Highfill some quality playing time. It sounded like there was a rash of injuries for both sqauds. Hope everyone for both teams is ok and that the Hanover guy who broke his ankle will heal quickly.

Just got word from Kid and Llama heading back from Hanover...had a great time at the game and are now in route to Hooters to check out the special on legs, breasts and thighs...and some dinner too...hehe
(Wow...I've been hanging around you boys too long!)   ;)

I didn't get to hear all of the game...only caught the first half and last 5 minutes of the second half of what sounded like a great offensive game for BC!! Sounded like BC had some great offensive plays.  BC's total yards...very impressive! From what I could hear though, the defense needs to kick it up a few gears. Glad to hear that Winston Young's back in the game.

Congrats on the win fellas!  ;D

SU 12, Catholic 0 (Completely different than the way McDaniel played Catholic today).
     BC 49, SU 20

Phew, got back from the BC-Hanover game about 30 minutes ago.

Rick Webster was every bit as good - or better - than J.D. Ricca.  He put the ball where his receivers didn't have to work much at all.  They did run a lot of screens, but on 3rd-and-longs as well as 4th downs, he threw some amazing balls.  Mike Russell (WR) is the real deal too.  150+ receiving yards and four TDs.  I think Webster's final stat line was 440 yards passing on 41-of-64, six of which were touchdowns (no INTs).

Phew, I'm glad BC's offense was unstoppable today.  649 yards of offense, with Lewis being 19-of-23 passing ... he also rushed for 124 yards ... looks like we will have to win games like we did in 2001 ... score 43 points a game while giving up 23.  Shoot, we've given up 33 ppg thus far this season  :o

Excellent trip Garth, party on! First of all I would like to recommend a trip to Hooters in Lexington, KY if you are in the immediate 4 hr area. Top 3 in the country and the UK girls were excellentttt! So good on Friday night, had to go back after the game Saturday. ;)

Oh and thats right, there was a BC game too, I got alittle distracted by all the Hoots. :o

Rick Webster is hands down the best QB I have seen since Roy Hampton of Trinity. The guy can flat sling the ball and most importantly was at his best with accuracy on 3rd & 4th down in the red zone. The other point most didn't hear was that he managed the game to a tee. They no huddled and he sat in the shotgun and would change every play once and sometimes twice based on BC's defensive alignment. Smart kid that knows football.

As for the Eagles.
This offense is still as good as I mentioned last week. Jacob has now learned to use his feet when he gets in trouble in the pocket (to a tune of 124yrds Saturday). Highfill also proved very comfortable in the option game(1 TD rushing in 4th qtr). Here is a stat for you. BC's offense has had to punt once, once, in two weeks of competetion, with no turnovers. Hanover stoped us 3 times by Saturday's box score, A missed FG, when we ran the clock out at the half, and when we went to  "victory formation", now that is offense efficiency!
As for the defense, lets say there is still much work to be done on that side of the ball.

Excellent hospitality at Hanover and a great trip overall. Did I mention the Lexington, KY Hooters! Excellenttttttt!

Go Eagles!

:-\  Well, R-MC played hard against Shenandoah last night and it was a pleasant surprise to see the Yellowjackets put two good sustained drives together of quite a few yards and come away with some points plus they had an opportunity to pull within a TD with 10 minutes left in the game when they were 4th and 7 and chose to go for it and didn't make it instead of kicking what appeared to be a relatively makeable field goal.  A concern of mine is that, as in the Chowan game,  the coaches opted for very little rotation of defensive linemen back and forth to give the starters a rest and late in the game it showed in their body language getting ready for the next play and they struggled.  I'm not the coach but a very limited rotation policy on the defensive line doesn't appear to be very good tactics.  We have some talent on the bench, why not use it to give the starters a breather for a series or two?  This week the offense looked better and the defense had some nice series, but essentially wound up outgunned and overmatched.  It would be nice to watch a game with both offense and defense looking good.  It was heartening to watch such a heroic effort on the part of the Yellowjackets but the Hornets proved to be the better team.  The young  'Jackets are getting there, but they have more work to do.  In my humble opinion, this was the best of the three contests I've seen so far this year.  We actually stayed in the game until late.  I think this R-MC team might actually be pretty good when they mature more.  Better luck next week for the  R-MC Yellowjackets against Catholic .  Keep that focus and play hard and hopefully you'll come away with a win ...    :)

Its a shame that Catholic left Westminster without their first win of the year. There were the normal home field calls by the Centennial officials that put Catholic in a bind, but adding 2 seconds back on the clock after time clearly ran out on McDaniel was a crime. Its a shame when a close game comes down to a judgement call by the officials, but the overtime situation should never have come up. I give credit to McDaniel's players for coming back on their last drive and in the two overtimes. The Green Terror's 3rd string QB was a tough kid who made some key plays throughout the whole game. Keith Ricca for Catholic is showing that he has the same type of potential as his two older brothers, but is still making some mistakes that could be prevented. 2 of his picks today shouldn't have happened, 1 because of a WR drop and the other because of a terrible no call on a pass interference. However, the offense should be a force once the ODAC schedule starts next week. Bublavi had a great game, going for 2 TD's and over 180 yards despite missing a lot of time during the game because of an injury. He also had his 3rd touchdown reception called back in 3 games this year.
I don't know about Coach Clark's decision not to go for two during either of the OT periods. Catholic has a freshman kicker, and doesn't get any help from their O-Line blocking for the extra point, and Catholic's offense seemed capable of doing anything they wanted in the second half. Overall it was a shame that Catholic lost a game against a top 25 opponent that they should have won, but the Cardinals are showing that they are on their way back. The 3 game schedule that Catholic had to open up the year was certainly a tough one for a young team, but I think it has them ready to play as the ODAC season kicks off. I'm predicting a big win for Catholic over RMC this weekend.

Well, I'm not usually one to "complain" about a win but what's the deal with our defense this year?  They threw the ball 60-some times and we had like one sack and no interceptions.  I know HSC will be licking their chops when they see that tape.  Giving up 400 yards/game.  Wow.  We really need to get better on that side of the ball.

On the positive side, what a great game for our offense as a whole.  Especially great to see Jacob Lewis bounce back from all those mistakes against McDaniel to play two essentially error-free games in a row.  The 'O' is definately clicking this year.  Looks as if we'll need every bit of it to beat HSC.  It's gonna' be a wild shoot-out again down there, isn't it.
