To say Guilford's offense is lousy is foolish. They have Barnette, who could be the best WR in the ODAC as well as two other WRs who could start on any team in the ODAC (including HSC and BC). Their line is 100x better then is years past. And vogelbach at QB is a big improvement. You can see they are starting to come together and if they put up an effort like they did last week... should be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds.

I was nodding my head through the first sentence of your post.  Then it just got silly.  Brian Awkard, Ben Dull, Corey Hulsebus, Brian Rolander, Drew Smith and Blake Warring are in a different class.  If anyone can be stamped as the best receiver in the ODAC, it's Catholic's Nick Bublavi.

This Barnette kid has had one big game in his career, being this past Saturday versus Sydney (100+ yards, 3 TDs).  How could that possibly make him the best?

BC/HSC...Maybe it isn't the turnovers or penalties that will define victory...I like the idea of who has the best successful 'trick' plays...double reverse...halfback pass...hook 'n ladder...flea flicker...tackle eligible...bring it onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn !

It's not like Awkard has stood out as the best in the league either.  He made a game winning catch at HSC in '03 and THAT'S IT!!  He is fast but definately not the best in the league.  All he does slightly better than average is return punts & that is based off of last year's stats.  One deep ball here and there doesn't put him standing above the rest.  Likewise for all the names you felt needed to be added from BC.

Now for the Major

Have you ever even played football?? Do you know anything about the sport other than watching it on tv while sitting on the couch and stuffing your face with cheesy popcorn?  Although my hopes and statements may not always go hand in hand with the BC agenda I know for a fact that I know and understand football 100x better than you do.  If you ever want to put your playing record or coaching record against mine, feel free!  Until then zzzziiiippp iiiitttt.

All else feel free to let it loose! ;)

I guess my high score prediction is in respect to HSC's offense. My prediction = BC 52 HSC 38

That being said if it is low scoring it will be an even larger margin of victory for BC. As I said earlier this year, nobody will hold this offense below 30 pts/gm in conference this year.

coach, maybe I missed something, but I'm not sure what Religion Major said to make you get so defensive.  I'm not sure what kind of playing / coaching record you've got, but last I heard everyone's entitled to an opinion on this board, especially if they can create an intelligent post by putting some thought and research into it, as the Major seems to do a lot.  I'm not too sure the Kid ever did much playing or coaching himself, but I would argue that he's got a lot more clout on this board than you do!

of course, all this is coming from a guy who this year has been much more a lurker than a poster, so what do I know??

As far as I know, St. Vincent Lombardi never played football, either.  And I've heard he knew a little about football.  My guess is He knew more than you Choke em up.

BCGrad,
I think Coach is mad because Major was poking his beloved E&H.. who are performing at a very sub-par level.  I think some of his frustration comes from about 4 pages ago when Major mentioned E&H has no concept of D.   In any case, Coach hasn't really proved himself on this board like Major has so he really shouldn't slam anyone!  ::)  Afterall, I'd take a BC fan and grads opinion over the HSC/BC game over a lurking E&H fan any day!

Major can take it how he wants.  My comments were more in a joking tone than all out serious and not directed to cause pain, but that's ok.  But as for his comment on my "iminate wisdom" on why I have GC with a higher score than BC ... cause you can't go around comparing one Saturday to another.  They're all different.  So don't hate cause I'm one of the few that will stand up to all the BC posters on here.

HSC!

Coach,
You HAVE to stand up against BC posters because your beloved E&H is stinking it up so bad you have nothing else to do.  There's always NEXT year.. just ask all of the boys in pink ties!  ;D

If you're complaining about the HSC/GC comparisons.. it's fairly legit compared to Kid's stats, seeing as it was only a few days ago that HSC almost lost a big one to GC.  Why don't you sit back down in your chair until E&H plays a full game.  :D ;D

You're right ... Awkard having 8 receiving touchdowns (29th most in the country last year) isn't worthy of recognition.  Especially since he put up that many scores with a QB only tossing 20.

And I never said he was the best in the league ... just that he's in a different class (with other BC receivers, H-SC ones, and a CUA one).

Sorry, I need to add Colton Ward (W&L) and Brennan Stewart (E&H) in there.

Coach em up,
No I am not a football player at BC, but I have played enough in my lifetime to understand the game and how it works.  As for the couch comments, while I am not a football palyer at BC I am an athlete at BC (Baseball Player).  If you can't take the heat stay out of the fire.   ;D

Major,
Don't listen to the Coach.. he just needs SOMETHING, ANYTHING to talk about other than how W&J spanked his beloved E&H this past weekend..  :D

Matt Barnhart (kid)

Yikes ... I knew E&H had struggled, but not until I looked over their box scores just now.

The Wasps leading rusher is linebacker Anthony Boyd.  That's right, linebacker.  He had two rushes for 48 yards in the W&J game ... making him the leading rusher for the season.  Their starting running back (Andrew Hemp) has rushed 20 more times, but has gained as many yards as Boyd (for an average of 1.5 yards a carry).  The Wasps are averaging 35.3 rushing yards a game.  That stings!

Boyd also happens to lead the team in punting (35.0 average) and tackling (42 total).  Monty obviously needs more athletes down in Emory.  I know this is his first year there - and first crop of recruits - but he did inherit an offense that put up 31 ppg in 2004.

And what happened to Todd Woods?  Last year he averaged 305.8 passing yards a game with 25 TDs to 10 INTs.  Through three games this season, Woods has put up 115.7 yards a contest with 1 TD and 2 INTs.  That stings too.

Maybe Coach Em needs to start coaching E&H...afterall, he is the end all when it comes to DIII football!  ;D :D  The rest of us just sit on couches and stuff our faces.  ::)
