Just got back from AF-UNLV.

What happened to GC-BC. No score board yet.

The Generals win huh? Well there will be some bow ties talking smack this week on this board. I bet ya dollar.

LLama is that really your wife? ;)

Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

Phew ... BC had a 48-12 lead ... put in the 2nd unit and GC (basically) had two defensive TDs to make it 48-26 ... then BC took another four TD lead, then GC scored twice on our 2nd and 3rd (with their starters).

Guilford QB Vogelbach had an outstanding game ... set two (or three) school records today (completions and TDs).

Washington finished with 5 total TDs (3 rushing, 1 receiving, 1 passing) ... I believe Lewis had a turnover free game.  TE Corey Hulsebus had 3 receiving TDs.

That Guilford WR is for real.  Off to celebrate the W.

W&L and BC will definitely be a good game ... I highly doubt (but hope) it will be blowout.

BC's D must get better.  Yes, the 2nd/3rd string was in a lot and the offense put them in bad positions with turnovers... but, no one (coaches or players) seemed real upset that they gave up 40+ points.  They seemed to be satisfied that we were up by a couple touchdowns regardless of how the D-fense was playing.  If we don't score 60+ points, we lose.

Otherwise, great game and now we get to wake up another team from their dream of a possible ODAC title.  Looking forward to the   W & L game more than we ever have.  Good for us, bad for W & L.

sorry to bring it up again, but i watched the hsc/bc game yesterday. a couple observations: kudos to the refs for "letting them play" in a big rivalry game. i saw 2 blatant personal fouls (late hits) that they ignored (both hsc hitting BC, once on the big hit on shawn smith on the return, they jumped on him late and were mushing his face pretty bad on the ground... the other was a late hit by #7 way after the whistle around the pile). also on that little hook and lateral was the most blatant pick play by the slot receiver, again no call. also, my interpretation of the rule is that 7 men have to be on the line of scrimmage w/ their head crossing the belt line of the center. hsc's OL is dangerously close to being off the ball. but whatever. no call is no call right?
marcus is nasty
ricca throws the ball well on the run, but man does he hate contact. shies away from every hit. still makes the throw though.
lewis overthrew 2 easy TDs early in the game and needs to do a better job reading coverages and not locking on to one receiver at the LOS.
herndon is a legit AA.
awkard put the move on that guy.
great game, great atmosphere.

(i meant to post that yesterday, but ran out of time at the office)

great win today Iggles... keep it up. it doesn't get easier so work harder

Can't agree with you there Ron.  W&L has a potent O with the emergence of Jack Martin and BC's defense ain't all that.

I said on the SCAC board and will say here that Maryville is not your prototypical 1-6 team.  I've spent the last two days with the Mville folks and studied their games this year, so I think I am qualified to assess it as such.  Disagree if you would like, but I feel appropriate saying so.

Bridgewater gives up 46 to Guilford (albeit most in the second half after leading big) - but H-SC allowed 45 too.

BC is allowing, on average, 33.6 points per game to opponents who are a combined 13-17 (not including Shenandoah's game tonight).

BC & W&L aren't nearly as far apart as you may think.

W&L WINS

38 - 34.

Adam Turer picks a Ricca pass with 15 seconds left.

Watch out ODAC -- I smell a W&L/BC ODAC championship game in 2 weeks!!!

BC will blow out W&L, who lost to a Centre team that is having a hard time putting away 1-5 Maryville TN (7-7 at the half)

W&L may be a more improved team, but field goals won't beat B.C. Furthermore, everybody is talkin about the Martin Kid, but how does someone make12 catches for 219 and NO TOUCHDOWNS???? I am not taking away from the kids effort, but I will take the points over the stats any day.
In regards to the BC defense, they are better than people think.

How can you even come close to justify knocking a kid for having 200+ games 3 out of his past 4 games???  Who cares how many TDs he scores -- its all about the points, as you say!!!

If you're going to bash something about W&L, how can you even dream about bashing Jack Martin??

One word for your day...

Loser.

You figure it out how to apply it.

Now...if you don't think that some of those 219 yards set up touchdowns, keep thinking it...and your word for the day:

LOSER.

3 completions for 16, 16, and 29 yards on a drive leading to a field goal.

1 completion for 11 yards on a second drive leading to a field goal.

1 completion for 13 yards on a third drive leading to a field goal.

1 completion for 34 yards on a fourth drive leading to a touchdown.

1 completion for 14 yards on a fifth drive leading to a touchdown.

2 completions for 14 and 29 yards on a sixth drive leading to a touchdown.

1 completion for 14 yards on a seventh drive leading to a touchdown.

So...let's recap for those who may be slower.  10 of Martin's catches came on each of W&L's scoring drives...there wasn't a scoring drive where they didn't have at least one completion to Martin.

Loser.

Some people have a life.  I am one of them.  Business took me to the Knoxville area for two weeks.

Some people can multi-task.  I am one of them.  How often do I get the chance to cover the most isolated team in my region?

Oh, and Maryville isn't on Mars, and believe it or not, not even on Uranus.  So that's why, on Earth, I did that.

Well hey, I guess next year will just have to be "your year".

Miz, met your little brother and his friend.  Seem to be like good folks.  As for HSC.....

That's ashame....Sorry HSC....Just makes for a more exciting game in Lexington.  And I'll tell you about W&L.........They will LOSE...Type all you want. You guys will get beaten like a red-headed step child and I know because I have a red-headed step child!  All this talk about how good W&L is makes me quite ill.  I can't take it.  All I know is I'll be in Lexington on Friday night and we'll be holding it down.....

SkoalTrain enjoyed yesterday's and today's events at Stone Station.  Great Turn Out!  Thanks Llamaguy, Hug, and Doff!  Also thanks to BCPhotos and Chris.  Thanks for the warm bed.

Chicken came out great!  My keys on my computer are now covered with chicken juice.....And as I was told today by Greg Doff, he said stop choking your chicken!!!

Forget the 46 points Guilford put up on BC ... how about these other results today that makes Bridgewater's 4-1 record and #18-ranking look pretty, well, not so pretty:

McDaniel loses to Dickinson (2-4)
Shenandoah loses to Greensboro (1-5)
Hanover loses to Defiance (4-2)
Hampden-Sydney loses to W&L (5-1)

Phew ... I guess us Eagle fans have to keep hanging out hat on being undefeated in the conference and having an offense that is scoring 47 points a game.  Our strength of schedule and scoring defense (34 ppg) sure isn't something to boast about!

Pat  I believe you did pick W&L. I'm not surprised at the outcome but didn't think we'd see it on the road.

Ron,
You too may be right about the BC/W&L game ...i hope so. BC must take care of business in a big way. HSC and SU go down again taking with them some of BC's Strength of schedule. However, to be fair, 2 of the GC scores were produced by Highfill turn overs on consecutive plays. On the otherhand, Vogelbach aparently is the real deal. According to the BC announcers he was threading the ball very accurately down the seams of the coverage. J.D.s numbers maybe in jeopardy when this kid gets through.  :o

The landscape is changing. Next year there will be more upsets based on the current pecking order. The teams that can get some pressure on the qb and can cover some exceptional recievers will be the winners.

Eagles better take care of Bzness in Fullerton next week. Don't be surprised to see some upsets in the W&L/GCQ and CUA/HSC games. Should be a good one.

xbcdad

Kid,
Ouch! as usual you are ahead of me. I can't figure out if the offenses are that great or the Defenses are that poor. I do miss those dominating Defensive players.

For the those who may remember ...just caught a sports highlight on Ch of PJ Berry taking a punt to the house for VA State . Imagine the O with PJ still aboard.

Marcus W make yet another outstanding case for POY. The man is money. I bet even the Mr. cummings would agree on that.

Finally, my bold prediction for week 9. Pat Cummings will once again pick against BC ...and be wrong. :D
