I thought the E&H beating BC this weekend was FUNNY too.   Funny as in death and taxes (and according to who you talk to...marriage)  But shhh, don't tell Kid

And I just want to say thanks guys for all that info on the South Region Playoff watch page.  How in the world do you all keep up?

That is all Mr. Llama.  I told him at the last game that he is a south region guru ... he won't accept the title.  He sure has done a great job with it!  All I have to do is click "Print" and take it to the game with me, only to call someone(s) for updates on the teams in action. :)

That someone this week is Gal!

Looks like Llama and I are the only "stone stationers" heading to the game in Emory.  I've never been to a Division III game with more than 10,000 people  :o

 Hey ,
I was reading the Washington and Bublavi debate tallk the past few days.  I try not to be too bias to my fellow eagles but it is time we give credit  to # 80  on Catholic. The reason is this Washington  is by far my choice for ODAC player of the year ,but he also has a great supporting  cast. Bublavi is doing it all with little help. Scouting reports idicate that he gets double covered at all times and triple covered in certain situations. Besides Catholics other decent receiver # 84  who had gotten more touches the past few years then the current one Bublavi is the only go to player on that team. You have to give the man some credit even if it does come from the boys in Bridgewater.  When it comes down to it The eagles will have a better record at the end of the  year and possibly another conference championship so ODAC player of the year will have to go to our boy Washington.

Dude, spare us. Everyone can see your e-mail address. That's just stupid to even try.

This is where it pays to actually read the Terms of Service and the registration agreement.

In front page of the d3football.com website, it had a feature story on the Ricca brothers who will play against each other this weekend at Catholic University... Very great story for you all to read and or attend to the game too!

I can't beleive it!  D3Football got some time in the News & Advance here in Lynchburg.  Normally every day I read it there is either a story on UVA or Va. Tech.  Thanks Goodness!!!  It's actually about Awkard who is from up the road in Lovingston.  Good Article.

"W&L's win over H-SC sets up a showdown in two weeks with Bridgewater (2-0, 4-1) for the league crown. Even if the Generals fall at Guilford this Saturday, a win at home over Bridgewater and a win at winless Emory & Henry in the final week of the season would hand W&L the league by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker with Bridgewater."
it's written like bridgewater is just a stepping stone... sometimes i just get the feeling that people are tired of bridgewater being so damn good. i know odac refs are (i NEVER gripe about refs; they do their job as best they can, but the numbers are hard to ignore: Bridgewater averages 76 penalty yards per game while their opponents average only 31.5 against them... odac teams average 59 penalty yards per game. that's a pretty significant difference. sorry to steal your statistical glory kid)...

also in that article it states that several odac teams are leading the nation in passing yards per game. recruiting wise, i see that like this: those teams may get the selfish guys that want stats to prove how good they were in college, but bridgewater will still get the winners that maybe aren't quite as good, per se, but want to get that ring to prove how good they were (i.e., team players) like we've been getting...

Should be a good game at Catholic on Saturday. The Ricca's are lucky to have that kind of talent in their family, and even luckier that they get the opportunity to see two of their family go up against each other with so much at stake.
I don't doubt that there will be a whole lot of offense in this game, but I hope Catholic comes out on top. With the loss of Ricca, Rolander, and a bunch of other seniors, and the resurgence of the program at Catholic, this might be the last good chance that the Tigers have to beat the Cardinals in the near future.

Outsider,
I read the link, and the article is written to the point that W and L must win two of the next three games to make the playoffs, one of which must be Bridgewater. To make the playoffs they must beat Bridgewater, meaning that yes they are a stepping stone to the playoffs. I'd call that fact more than any sort of bias.
As far your recruiting take, I see it quite differently. I don't think that the other teams statistical leaders are any more selfish, but rather the other ODAC teams don't have as many playmakers, but have to focus more on several go-to-guys. To say your own guys "aren't quite as good" is somewhat unexpected, and basically untrue. Raw talent wise, I think if you look on paper, the showdown in two weeks really shouldn't even be a contest. Rather it is the lack of discipline that you described (76 yds/game) that even makes the ODAC somewhat close every year. Academic standards make recruting at W and L incredibly hard. Last year several guys that were high up on the prospect list didn't get in with over 1300's and 3.5 GPA's, so I wouldn't say that the other schools have better, yet more selfish players. Look at the sideline at the game next week and look at W and L's number two's and three's. They have no business being on the same field with Bridgewater's athletes, but superior coaching, discipline, preparation and drive are what give this year's team a realistic chance.

Forma- Good point about recruiting and the grades that are required to get into W&L.  That has to make it difficult to field a deep team at this level.  I will say though that all the qualities you listed (superior coaching, discipine, work ethic, etc.) are all qualities that Bridgewater possesses as well.  The only one that sometimes comes into question is the discipline when it comes to penalties.  I would say that from watching the games this year, a majority of our penalties come on special teams.  The ironic thing is that our special teams is one of the best in the country, so it doesnt seem to hurt us much.  When Awkard catches a punt, nobody on the field knows which direction, or directions he will go, and that causes alot of blocks in the back.  I think I have seen at least 5 or 6 penalties this year alone on our punt return team.  But i know for a fact that the Eagles work as hard as any team in the weight room during the season as well as in the off-season, and our coaches are definitely superior, so the fact that W&L possesses all those characteristics as well doesnt give them an edge over BC, just evens the field a little.
