Outsider...no doubt both teams have been damn successful with their star players only touching the ball 15-20 times a game.  I was just wondering aloud whether or not the production and yards per carry would stay the same if they were to get 25-30 per game.   Would be neat to watch if they could stay healthy through it.  But, go with what works....and for BC that is balance.  Never know which one of the 25 or so gamebreakers will get the ball next. :)

It is probably because they score 2-3 times a game touching the ball 20 times. Therefore there are not enough offensive plays for them to get the ball. The teams can't grind the ball out because they score to fast.

Wow. I bet if some data junkie could go back and see how many GC-Q posts there have been from GC-Q fans over the last (minus mine) year it would pretty high DELTA. The beatings recieved from other schools cannot be counted

Its all good. I just want to see the boys I knew since my son graduated go out winners next year.

Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

Outsider,
My comments had nothing to do with environment.

How many d3 teams have groupie type followers? How many d1 players would play at the d3 level if they couldn't play d1? When I talk to d1 guys who are getting no p.t and never will at d1 who "would never play d3 if there life depended on it"(paraphrase) it reminds me of what's special about d3. Attitude is completely different.

Enviroment at all those places? You're right about them being special. But they're special for an entirely different reason. Not saying any level is better than another just pointing at the differences.

Hey narch,
I'd like to point out that you say were the bottom half of the conference, but we are in position to tie for 3rd or better if we win out.  i hate methodist wasnt about 2 weeks later in the season when our team began to mature and really play ball.
i'd sure like to see what the monarch offense, which was completely new coming into the season could do against that guilford defense now, as well, since the coaches have put almost 100% of the offense in, as opposed to the 60-65% that was in play in week 2...could be scary :)...does it occur to you guys that OTHER teams improve as the season goes along, as well? the guilford fans on this board seem to think that guilford is improving in some vacuum that only gcq belongs in - mc scored 35 points in the first half against a solid cnu defense last week with a starting rb who is nursing a groin and is playing at about 3/4 speed...think what they might do against guilford's defense

I know GC-Q has a really good passer and they're playing better ball and the game is in Greensboro BUT I have seen a vast improvement the last couple of weeks in the Yellowjackets and they have begun to mature and gel into a Team.  If the Jackets play the way they have the past couple of weeks I see them winning a close one 31 - 28.  C'mon Yellowjackets lay it on Guilford!!  You can do it!! :D

I believe his point was that at the time you played, GCQ was still fighting to find an identity with many new players and a completely new staff. Now that the team has an idea of what they do well and can game plan more easily, it would show a greater improvement then a team that has been together for years and has had the same staff leading them.
Not to mention that it takes time to truely gel as a team. It was no knock on Methodist, just a statement that GCQ has come a long way this season and that's something that no one on this board can deny.
Also by saying that GCQ is in the bottom two in the league is somewhat ignorant considering they are coming off a win against a team that will be "playing for the championship" this weekend. And should GCQ win out (very possible... which couldn't be said in past years), they would clinch a tie for a least second in the league.... Which is much higher then any preseason rankings i saw.

It appears the Heisman vote site crashed, and all the votes were reset to 0...so Brett and Marcus aren't starting off more than 12,000 votes behind... in fact as of right now, Brett is one vote out of 3rd place, and Marcus is in 7th place, tied with Matt Leinart.

You can re-cast all of your votes at:

This board is getting much more lively now that some teams can walk and chew gum.........

But as the contenders change (bye, bye HSC) the name at the top remains the same.

Meet the new boss.   The same as the old boss.

Question---How many times will Marcus hear about his "Heisman" season at the bottom of a pile this weekend from W&L defenders?

Answer---Zero...You gotta catch him to talk trash. :)

rmcjacketsfan - I agree with you.  RMC has also shown tremendous improvement the past few weeks.  I don't believe anyone on the GC staff and team is taking the Jackets for granted - they know they're in for a spirited battle.  RMC has exactly the same things to play for that Guilford does - namely, a .500 season, greater respect and a much higher finish in the ODAC.  I very much look forward to watching the game and know RMC will come ready to play.  I also predict a close game - but I hope it's more like 35-31 GC.  Good luck to the Jackets - play an enthusiastic game with no injuries - but Go Quakers!

i got the point, and mine was that methodist was installing a completely new offense (going from the wing-t to the spread option) with a new starter at rb and 3 new starting o-lineman, throwing the ball to receivers more accustomed to blocking than catching...you get the picture - gcq has clearly improved as the season has progressed, and maybe you've improved a little more than the monarchs, but i think if mc and gcq were to play today, the outcome would be much the same...oh, and last i checked being in 5th place in an 8 team league was "in the bottom portion" of the conference (i never said they were in the bottom 2)

Hey narch - good to see you on line - we chatted last winter in d3hoops.  You made an excellent point - it is safe to assume the Monarchs & other teams have also improved as the season progresses - whether that's more or less than other teams could probably only be decided with a 2nd game.  Thinking of Guilford in particular, I've watched just about all their games this year & the improvement is dramatic - but I can't make comments about other teams Ive only seen once.  I also agree that other coaching staffs are smart enough to change their schemes against teams that modify their plans and personnel.  Good luck to the Monarchs the rest of the season - MC has a fine team.

Also, I couldn't help but notice your billing as "North Carolina's top NCAA Division III Football Program."  As far as I know, there are only four of us & I was just wondering if that was an actual award or if that was self-proclaimed.  Methodist certainly has a fine program, but let the rest of know how to apply for next year's award.  lol Peace.

I agree - we all want to see them go out as winners on the field just as they are off the field.

so we agree to disagree... 5th in and 8 team league? the ODAC has 7 teams and GC has the potential to tie for second... so where did you come up with that?
