Washington and Lee's victory is the same as McDaniel's.  One day ... and a small margin of victory.  So McDaniel is better than Bridgewater.

Check out the AFCA poll and see who was getting some votes ... and that was before the 29-point victory over Johns Hopkins.

By the way, Hopkins gave up only 52 points in its first 8 games (6.5 pts./game) .... but gave up 49 points in its 9th game today.

There must be something wrong with the Quality of Wins index .... as the Tigers' points total is now 10.22, better than either Bridgewater (9.43) or Washington & Lee (8.62).  That puts the Tigers at #27 in the Quality of Wins index, way too high for a team that won't be going to the playoffs (while Bridgewater and Johns Hopkins will be).

WOW!!!! Winston Young for Heisman???   ;D  What a performance today.  5 TD's (4 on the ground and one recieving) and a blocked punt for a safety and the second blocked punt was because of him (and coach clark) too.  Clark must have seen that the long snapper was picking the ball up before he was snapping it back to the punter, so Im guessing he told Winston to go right over the center and try to take the ball out of the snapper's hands before he could get the snap off (a perfectly legal play).  Winston jumped the gun on the first one and got a 5 yard penalty, but it got the snapper thinking and he snapped the next one over the head of the punter for another safety.  He's a beast

Algernon-

I guess this is why you are so bitter:

1) Family weekend... YOU LOST
2) Homecoming weekend.... YOU LOST (again)

First, I think you reference to the Sewanee game as the right "comp" is absurd.  Lets look at the right game against the best team in the confernce, Bridgewater (yes, I said that, b/c it is true)

ok, you LOST 31-24, we LOSt 17-13... and I would argue that the Generals were not exactly a pushover that day if you read the posts from last weekend...

the only thing better about beating Sydney is hearing all of the bitter folk complain about it...

I eagerly await your bitter and insightful response...

oh, and thats Cheeks, RONNIE CHEEKS.

Cheeks has spoken.
Can you smell what the CHEEKS is cooking??

GO GENERALS....

Nasty, Like Cheese on Tang

Quality of wins... a W is a W... I won't be rooting for the Generals in the postseason either, but I am not running around with bitter beer face...

W's trump QoW.  Sorry to bust your bitter bubble.

Well, BC came through well today.  Winston Young  was all over the field!!  5 touchdowns. 4 on the ground,, one on a pass.  He blocked a punt and caused that safety and another one as well.  I'd say he had a grand day.  Kudos to Drew McQueen and Adrian Herndon for their interceptions.  Jeff Highfill did a slambang job at QB.  When the Defense wasn't at a huge disadvantage with the 3 man line,  they looked really good as well.  But the boys in stripes were terrible as usual.  RMC, (#71 and #77 specifically) were holding all day long.    And ball placement was an issue as well.  But we'll take it.  I note that GC outdueled CUA.  Vogelbach owns so many records now and there's still one game to go.  How can he not be ODAC Freshman of the Year?  He's amazing!!  I was glad to see H-S take Johns Hopkins down by such a huge margin!  That what I call a quality win!!  Way to go, Tigers.  I'm sure that JD had great numbers in that contest!  I've heard that Tweardy and Co have beaten E&H but haven't heard a score.  As for me now that our game is in the books, I'm going to grade papers by the flickering light of the Hokie-Miami game on the tube.  Go Hokies!  Everyone has assumed all year that the ACC would be just FSU and Miami this year, but hopefully not!  When I was down in Jacksonville last May for the ACC baseball Tournament, the football facility was just next door and it looked great.  Makes me wish I could go.  But hopefully we will still be in the hunt!!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

I was happy with the Eagles performance that I saw today. Other than the RMC QB completing 23 of 37 passes BC looked pretty efficient. Winston Young gave us a 2006 preview with a school record 32 points including the safety.
Our secondary has made some strides and Herndon finally got an INT this year.
Highfill did a pretty good job for the most part. The game with Catholic should be interesting.

It truly looks like W&L and BC are the top 2 teams in the ODAC this year!

Oh, yea ..... sure.  Perhaps you've forgotten about HSC and it's 7-2 record.  Maybe it was the Generals 10-7 victory over Sewanee that so impresses you .............

I don't think the Generals 4-point victory over HSC qualifies them for second best in the ODAC .... otherwise, we'd have to conclude that McDaniel is a better team than Bridgewater.

How the hell can you say you're better than W&L when they beat you.  See that's the beauty of head-to-head competition, it takes out all the subjectivity.

Next year HSC will be 4th place, at best.

EAGLES RULE!!!

Same AFCA poll had Hampden-Sydney #11 at one point last year. How'd that work out?

Seeing both teams play I say with confidence that W&L is a better team than HSC hands down.  We were fortunate to get out of Lexington with a win.

And Algernon you can take all of your arguements, write them on a napkin, and sit and talk about them over Thanksgiving dinner while Bridgewater and their "quality of win index" is participating in the Division 3 playoffs, again.  LOL......loser.  Great win over JHU, too bad you can never win the one that counts.  Pool C....................NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marty Ball rules!!!!

I thought the combined passing stats of GC at CUA today would be wild:

GC J. Vogelbach, 45 of 72, 3 INTs, 5 TDs, one 2-point pass, 582 passing yards, 12 yards rushing, 594 total yards
GC M. Rushing, 1 of 1, 1 TD, 24 yards
GC totals, 46 of 73, 3 INTs, 6 TDs passing, 606 passing yards

CUA K. Ricca, 25 of 46, 3 INTs, 2 TDs, 452 yards (one was 96 yards)
CUA J. Jacobs, 8 of 14, 2 TDs, 106 yards
CUA M. Geraghty, 1 of 1, 16 yards
CUA totals, 34 of 61, 3 INTs, 4 TDs passing, 574 yards passing

Combined passing stats:

80 of 134, 6 INTs, 10 TDs passing, one 2-point pass, 1180 yards passing

If I remember correctly, 96 yards would be a school record. Record length completion was 90 when I was working there.

Yes, I think you're right.  The GC radio crew made that announcement.  Earlier I said I thought it was by Bublavi, but it was Bowman.

Pat, what's the DIII record for total offensive yards by both teams?  GC/CUA had 1332, but I know there have been enough high-scoring games that this is probably not even close to the record.  Just wanted to know out of curiosity.

GC passing 606, net rushing 34 = 640 total yards
CUA passing 574, net rushing 118 = 692 total yards

PS I earlier reported CUA with 580 yards, but it was "only" 574.  lol  I had M. Geraghty with a 22 yard pass, but it was just 16.
