Fans Choice for ODAC Offensive Player of the Year Results

RankPlayerPts (1st)PositionSchool2005 Statistics
1J.D. Ricca80 [9]QBH-SC3346 passing yards, 38 total TDs
2Marcus Washington62 [8]RB/KRBC1136 all-purpose yards, 19 total TDs
3Nick Bublavi56 [2]WRCUA1613 receiving yards, 13 total TDs
4Josh Vogelbach41QBGC3109 passing yards, 34 total TDs
5Jack Martin14WRW&L1288 receiving yards, 13 total TDs

Other receiving votes: Winston Young (BC RB) 10, Keith Ricca (CUA QB) 8, Chris Barnette (GC WR) 4, Drew Smith (H-SC WR), Colton Ward (W&L WR/KR) 3, Stuart Sitterson (W&L PR/KR) 3, Jacob Lewis (BC QB) 2.

Who voted: bcsportswriter, Bwana, cuaplayer, eh ... just call me 'kid', franknizy, hasanova, HeardEnough, Jeremybozz, kreit, miz, mizzou_mafia, MommaG, muchacho, Olinemom, pakownr97, Pat Coleman, patcummings, religion_major, Trenches

There were a handful of folks who voted but hadn't made a post on the username they submitted.

Commentary: Ricca was the clear favorite.  Even though Washington had only one less first place vote than Ricca, Washington was left off four of the 19 ballots sent in which explains the 18-point gap between him and Ricca.  On the 15 ballots Washington was on, he wasn't voted lower than 3rd place.  Ricca was on all 19, placing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd on 18 of the 19.  Vogelbach was on 17 of the 19 ballots, while Bublavi was on 16.

I like to see JD (HSC) duplicate those numbers with an OL that Vogelbach had. And I would like to see what Vogelbach would have done with a HSC OL. Nothing against Ricca; hell he's great,  but it would be an interesting thought I think

So are you saying GC has a weak o-line? I mean in years past this would be correct, but GC's oline has been pretty solid this year.

gcballer

just to comment on what abrngr said about the oline of GC and Hampden Sydney...

Hampden Sydney has given up 11 more sacks than GC has this year. So Vogelbach has had a better offensive line than Ricca.

muchacho

Guildford's O-line performance against Catholic shows that they are a very good line. I also think that Smith and Rolander aren't the type of atheletes that Guilford has at receiver. If there would be any difference at all if you had Ricca and Vogelbach switch teams, I think HSC would suffer and not the other way around.

I think GC needs to be careful. I think the last time they beat EH was about 4 years ago and they have had their number. You know some teams just have match up problems. Team A can smites team B which killed team C but team A gets knocked off by team C. Two of the EH and GC games I saw at EH were in the mud and snow and if a corner slips and falls bang you lose by 7. So if it is a dry field I like GC + 8 but history is not on their side.  OL Matthews of GC must block and block hard. Hopefully Vogelbach does not  transfer to a D1 AA or D2 school. Good luck GC-Q, smite the yellow helmets
You're right, It has been since '01 that GC won the match up.  This game is hugh to me b/c I haven't beaten them since Ive been, plus we have to win this to tie for 2nd, and it is my last game.  Im pretty sure Vogelbach isn't going any where.  If he is he hasn't shown any interest of doing so to us.  It did rain last night, but no effect even on our practice field, which has been reduced to nothing but dirt now.  The game field is unnaffected.  Good luck to everyone this weekend.  GO QUAKERS!!!!!!!

The best of luck GCOL tomorrow.  Take E&H to woodshed (my apologies to Todd  on that one, but you know what I mean.  I've seen both of you all play and if you all play with the intensity you played us, you will beat E&H.  My best to you!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

A better assessment would be to look at yards gained per attempt. Viewers of the ODAC passing frenzy this year would probably agree that Guilford & Catholic throw more quickly and more often while H-SC employs more play-action and deeper throws (unlike the old days). The latter approach is a bit more taxing on the o-line as far as sacks allowed.

GCOL

Olinemom, Thanks.  We'll need it, b/c im sure it'll be a very good game.  Good Luck to ya''l as well.

duck, I wasn't giving an assement of how well a team passes the ball, but and assesment of how well the QB is protected, and can get the pass off.

Kid, Can we get an updated photo of Lauren?
