Just remember - Ferrum can put up 24 points on anyone in the country.   :P

Thiel won 50-48 in 3 OTS. I bet BC goes to Thiel or perhaps gets moved to the East region.

Wow ... the Catholic QBs (Ricca/Jacobs) had 75 passing attempts ... six of which were interceptions (our DBs played a heck-of-a-game) ... Nick Bublavi is the real deal ... wow.

Wasn't all that impressed with Bobby Stutz.  Big body (6-1, 230) for a LB, but don't remember him really making a big play (or any play).

Lewis and Highfill looked excellent today (after Lewis threw that first INT on the first play, ha) ... I kinda liked the two-QB system we ran.

Washington and Young "got theirs" today ... not sure on the totals, but I think Washington had two TDs (one for 40+ yards) and Young had one.

Unfortunately Brandon Copeland (who will be an AA before his career is over) injured his arm.  Doubtful for the first round.  It's ashame ... had a heck-of-a-game!

And yes, congrats to Bagot.  His mom and dad ran over to the fence and gave him a hug when he came off the field.  Amen to the "that's what DIII is all about".  A senior sticking it out after always being on the scout team his four years.  Heck of a kid.

Regarding the playoffs ... I say Ferrum will come to Bridgewater.  I think two teams out of Wesley, Thiel, W&J, and JHU get shipped to the east.  A couple east upsets (Cortland over Ithaca and Alfred over St. John Fisher) might leave only six east region teams for the playoffs.

Who knows!  I'm just excited about our 35-game ODAC win streak and our seniors going 24-0 over their careers!  Those 31 guys are awesome and will be ready for the playoffs!!!

Congrats Quakes!! I am impressed beyond comprehension.

Let's upgrade Vogelbach's and Barnett's locker spaces to keep em at the place.

I'd take that. Our offense will score 40 against them.

Actually, I see Ferrum as a scary matchup for BC. I thought BC's run defense was a strength until I saw W&L run all over us in the first half two weeks ago.

BC/Ferrum would be an excellant game. I hope it happens.

I would have agreed but i just saw the Ferrum/CNU score.  WOW!

Congrats, GCOL!  They  told us during the BC-Catholic game that you all had beaten E&H.  A 5-5 season after last years.  I'd say you are pm tje way up.  I can tell you that the first 4 minutes of our game were very iffy!!  First play from scrimmage-Our QB throws an interception which sets them up for a toucdown.  Then they did an on-side kick which caught us off-guard.  Another touchdown.  Then with our team on the 1 yd. line the QB retreats deep into the endzone and gets sacked for a safety.  As you can see we didn't start off well. But we rallied to go up  50-30.  You  probably guess what defense we were using when they did their scoring: the 3-man line.  I wish they would bury   it under a rock.  It usually l=allows 10-15 yards a pop when we ;re in that formation.  It's not one of my favorites!
We also heard that CNU beat Ferrum by a pile, but that Thiel won in double overtime by going for a 2 point conversion and making it.  I guess we'll find out tomorrow wher we go and who we play.  HSC beat RMC , but I haven't heard anything about how W&L did.
Well, since I've been up since Thursday, I think I'm headed for bed.  We had Senior day and I made jewlelry for my Seniors to give to their moms.  The Tailgate was great as per usual.  Tons of shrimp, home-mad epotato salad, cole slaw, and brownies, of course.
Glad you all could celebrate tonight!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

With all of the upsets does Hampden Sydney have any chance? I know 1 or 2 teams with 2 losses are expected to make the expanded field. HSC may be a long shot.

GCOL

Thanks olinemom, sounds like ya'll had a pretty rough start, but congrats to your boys on there great season and good luck in the playoffs.  I hope yall have a game somewhere close by.  I'd like to come see one, maybe if they match em up with ferrum still.  I don't completely understand the 3 man front myself, unless there are 4 lb's still in the box, or its and obvious passing down.  I'm a huge fan of a 4-3 D but that doesn't seem to be as popular anymore, and it does have a little more trouble with the high passing O's that are around now.  Anyway, good luck in the playoffs.  Go Eagles!

Llamaguy

Looks like 2 options for the Eagles, unless somehow we get shipped East:

  • Bridgewater hosts Ferrum
  • Bridgewater at Thiel

Coach em up,
I vote you guys take a flight to UMHB, win the Texas sub-bracket and we will see you at Jopson in the South Region Championship game.  ;)

Good game by Bridgewater today. Catholic showed how much they have improved early today, but the turnovers ended up killing us. With 7 TOs, Catholic could have lost by much more. Ricca showed that he is capable of making the big play, but unfortunately he still plays like the freshman that he is. When he learns to throw the ball away instead of trying to force passes, he will be a much better QB.
I give credit to BC for another undefeated championship, but this year's team does not look nearly as tough as the others since 2000. If not for a missed assignment on the option, Marcus Washington is shut down. However, great teams manage to win games, and the Eagles were obviously able to do that today.
I think you guys will be in good hands with Highfill next year at QB. He looked as good, if not better than Lewis. Copeland is a talented receiver, who should give him a good target over the next few years.
Well the ODAC season is done for most teams, and I wish BC good luck in the postseason. There were a lot of important seniors honored today at BC, and with their departure next year, I think the gap in the ODAC will be narrowed even more than it was this year.

pakownr97

Muchacho,

You are right about the gap closing, but you better plan on being better, because the rest of the ODAC will be.

So don't plan on BC coming down, the rest of the conference must come UP to our level if they want to knock us off.

I agree with your assessment of Ricca's game today, looked very impressive, but made way too many Freshman mistakes.  He needs to look at the film of this game, and correct his mistakes for next year.  Jacob Lewis played very poorly his first game this year, but he analyzed his mistakes in the McDaniel game, and has made excellent decisions since.  I fear young Ricca will do the same.

I hate to do this, but we told you we would score 50.
Your guys had us worried until BC broke it open in the third quarter.

GO BC!

BC Class of '81

cuaplayer

Pak,
Guess will just have to see next year. Don't expect CUA to have to throw 75 times a game next year.  We'll have to see how the defense looks when they aren't on the field the whole game.  Look for Cards redzone O to improve next year. Then they'll be scoring 40-50 a game like their yardage numbers say they should.

Ahhhhh......Man, that was some good shrimp.  My wife and child loved it as well.  Hats off to Hoovers' Mom and Dad.  I won't use names here because they said so.  Great Job!

Llamaguy! I would never be able to do it without you.  You always have all the stuff.  Same with Greg Doff. and his crew.  I'm just a figure-head.  Man, Lynchburg was a long way home today.  Thank Goodness I made it in one piece.

Great Day today for BC football.  Hoover will prevail!  Rocky Mount, here we come!  I hope BC doesn't play at some BS High School Stadium.  Let's bring them to Bridgewater and close the door!

Until we meet again....I am The SkoalTrain....!!!! Playoff bound!!!
