Not to cut into Stone Station fun Friday night, but we have a chance to see the Bridgewater stars of 2009 Friday night. I think Staunton's Robert E. Lee team is at Turner Ashby for their playoff game @ 7:30 Friday while Harrisonburg hosts Park View from the Loundon County area I believe at the same time, just 4 miles or so down the road...but not sure either of those games can compete with 7-card hold 'em

Actually you are right on Waterboy! We are going to the TA/LEE game then on to BW3's for some video hold'em and food. Join us if you would like!

could this be another pass the torch game
99' BC/CUA
cua-629
bc- 532
*cua won by 21
*graduated all american running back
*graduated its biggest play receiver
*was poised to "dominate" the next season including starting ranked as high as 7th nationally pre season
*99' cua also lost the first game of the season to a perenial power that it had no business losing
*in 2000 they did not make the playoffs for the first time in 4 years

05'  BC/CUA

cua-538
bc-499
*bc won by 20
*graduates its all everything running back
*graduates biggest play receiver
*lost the first game of the 05 season to a perennial power it had no business losing

The parallels are there.  Is the torch gonna get passed again? Non well thought out arrogant replies expected.

You guys have reloaded once(after Cruz and Lutz' class). Its the second time that gets you(after these 30 guys are gone).

Am I anxiously waiting for BC to get knocked off? For sure. Paraphrasing Curt Schilling, I can't wait for the day till someone makes 5000 Eagles fans shut up(besides Roy Williams).

I really don't think so (of course).  At least, not yet.  I didn't see any great atheletes for CUA on offense or defense (other than Bublavi).  BC still has plenty in reserve, and have reloaded more than once in making 6 straight playoff appearences.

I will say that the younger Ricca is good and capable of keeping things interesting.  I also think T. Clark is the 2nd best coach in the ODAC.  He'll need better athletes (more speed) to take down the Eagles in the near future.  We'll have to see how he recruits.

I see CUA battling for 3rd place next year with HSC and Guilford behind BC and W&L.

And a hefty chunk of that 500+ yards last Saturday came w/ CUA 1st string chucking the ball against BC jv's in the 4th quarter on 2 long TD drives.  After the great start by CUA (the onsides kick was a great call) BC completely dominated the game until our benches emptied.  I think we scored 7 TD's in a row.  The talent gap btw. BC and CUA is still very large.

Good News and quasi-embarassing question

Me and She Who Must be Obeyed and WMD #1 and #2 were going to JMU game on saturday-primarily to see the band.  My sister (lives in BC) was going to watch WMD #3.

Now have convinced sis to go to JMU with SWMBO and me and WMD #3 (a/k/a Henry, age 2) will go to the BC game...becuase you must break them in early.

Now for the Quasi-embarassing question...where is the best place to enter the stands with a little guy?  Can you get in through the gate at Nininger, or do you have to go in between Memorial and Flory?  If the former, I figure I can roll the stroller in to the base of the stands.

Ah, the joys of parenthood...

Any suggestions are appreciated!

NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

Speaking of Harrisonburg football, is Tim Sarver still the coach there?  I was on a team he coached at Osbourn in Manassas before heading to the Valley, back when my knees did not creak when I kneeled...

Anyway, I have lost track of him and wondered if he was still in Harrisonburg...

Yes, he's still there, and his son is the QB of their undefeated team right now.

great job on the around the nation this week. you guys are definitely in playoff mode. i have to agree w/ cummings. whoever (whomever?) wins the bc/w&j game will take the bracket. granted i know nothing about the rest of the teams in the bracket (except thiel having beaten w&j earlier this year), i do know that these 2 teams that have offenses that are downright scary. defense wins championships, but offense wins this bracket.  plus bc offensive playcalling seems to be at its best in the playoffs (minus muc 2003--lycoming that year should have been played in the parking lot w/ that skating rink of a field).

miz,

Just remember how easy CUA moved the ball while being relegated to a one dimensional offense all season. That won't happen again.

If you didn't see some pretty good athletes, then you had your BC blinders on. Just most of those athletes happen to still be teenagers, i.e unfinished products. You'll see.

Of course, you have better to do with the playoffs coming up than banter about next season. I just wanted to take the opporotunity to be the first to go on record about whats gonna happen next year. So that I can say I told you so in every post.

Good luck to your boys in the playoffs. Should be a shoot out.

Cua: I must admit I was stunned to look in my BC game program and see a grand total of 4 Freshmen listed. That said, I think Bublavi also graduates?
If Jacob Lewis elects not to return Highfill can do just as well at QB. Winston Young was 2nd team all ODAC last year and will be back at RB. Robert Matthews wants to come back at RB after missing this season and he was our fastest player.
Our leading tackler from 2004 Craig Smith will return at LB. Brandon Copeland will step in at WR etc. Has the gap in the ODAC closed this year? Absolutely. BC had some very close games with W&L,HSC and to a lesser extent Guilford and E&H.
I think ODAC parity will be here to stay very soon. However, BC goes into 2006 with enough talent returning to be favored. Vogelbach and K. Ricca will be great QB's the next 3 years though.
