the thing about this thiel team (per the dnr article today): they are basically the 2000 bridgewater team. used to be terrible and finally put a great year together, winning all their close games. my point is we cannot rely on our talent alone to win this game. we'll be facing a "relentless" tomcats (are they really the tomcats?) team that knows what losing feels like, hates that feeling and will do anything it takes not to taste it. as my boy nick reese says every pre-game (or at least used to): "LET'S GET IT JUMPIN!"

Outsider 14 is ready for the Backyard Brawl and the BC/Thiel game. Happy Thanksgiving. Should be a great week of football.

From the Thiel W&J Box Score

05:39 THI - Tom McEntire 57 yd pass from Brett Helman (Tom McEntire pass from D. Satterfield), 2-66 1:00, THI 14 - W&J 14

Helman is their RB, looks like a halfback pass is part of their "big game" playbook.

quote from today's DNR--"A couple of the plays we practiced during the week were meant to go a little bit deeper to get right in-between their secondary," Edwards said. "A couple of times we did run shorter routes than we should have and, yeah, the ball did sail because it was supposed to be a deeper pass."

Anyone sense the QB blaming his receivers there?  Edwards had a great career and sure impressed me last year, but man did he struggle saturday.  He had this blank look on his face the entire game on the sideline and stood by himself most of the time.  I asked one of their receivers if Edwards ever looked that out of sync and he said that it was the same way in the Theil loss.  Tough way to end a great career.

Now to this week....Im guessing the school wont be chartering any student buses because we will be on break...but this guy will be back friday night to go to the game somehow.  Kid...u know if there will be an alumni bus maybe?  I gotta find a way up there.

You have to admit quite a few of those passes were WAY off target...and there were receivers about 10 yards short of where the ball ended up.  I can see Edwards having a legit complaint on a few of the passes but towards the end of the game it was very clear no one on the W&J WANTED to win the game with the exception of #17... they gave up with 2 mins to go.

that's what i read from his quotes too. hopefully (for his sake) he's right, but if he's just scapegoating that's sad. i'm sure they were surprised by our team speed on defense too and that probably threw them off quite a bit.

i hope we get a bunch of people to come up for this game. i know practically my whole extended family will make the hour and a half trip up, but it would be great to get a few busloads of students to ride up along w/ the bus and a half of alumni. i know if i were in school i would definitely make the trek. i'll put that on the writer and the pastor. as for alumni bus, i haven't seen the email yet. kid might want to get on them to get that out so people can make plans. its gonna be perfect playoff football weather, cold and snowy. LOVE IT!

I hope we can get a good crowd up there this weekend too. I know the parents and other adults will be making the trip, but i worry about students because people will be home for T-Giving break.  There are quite a few BC students that live in PA though, so hopefully some of them will make the trip from home.  I would love to have a full student bus go up there....but im sure the administration would need to know that they would be able to fill one up before they booked it.

Just got an email that says they are taking a student bus as long as they can get at least 25 students to sign up.  $20 dollars this year though, not including any meals. I thought it was only 10 last year with breakfast provided.  Maybe that is because of the gas price raises or because they dont expect as many students to go.  Kid, do u know if the alumni bus price is the same?

well, maybe ill hitch hike. lol.  I will be there one way or another.

$70?!?!? :o I guess leaving at 4:00 a.m. when I was a student doesn't seem so bad after all! I think I'll have to catch this one on the radio! Christmas is comin' and the kids need new shoes  :P

C'mon Gal.  Don't be such a cheapskate.  By Saturday, you'll be missing your third-graders, so you'll need to be around us to remind you what immature boys act like.

;D

Haha Pak...that's true. However, I think sometimes ya'll fellas forget that I'm a girl. I won't mention names... (Kid and Llama) Or specific incidents (hobby horses, vibrating benches)  :P

The game's not ruled out for me just yet. Trust me, I would much rather be there than fighting the after-Thanksgiving Day sales with momma! Where there's a will, there's a way. And although there's not $70 to ride the alumni bus, I'm sure I can find a way (or some good looking man to take me)  ;)

GO BC!
