A crazy moment on New Years Eve...

I drive to the local Quizno's in Burke, VA to get lunch for the gang.  I am wearing a BC Eagle "Legacy" hat: Crimson hat, garnet lettering that reads "The Tradition: BC EAGLES Football".

I place my order, and as I go to pay the counter guy squints at my hat.

Me: You OK?
Him: Is that a Redskin hat?  I can't quite tell...
Me: No...College team-BC Eagles.
Him: OH!  You mean Boston College!
Me: No, Bridgewater College
Him: Oh, (cautiously) you mean in Massachusetts?
Me: No, Bridgewater, VA...in the Shenandoah Valley
Him: What a pity...
Me: What, you go to Hampden-Sydney?
Him: Nope, but my brother did...

I am just glad they fixed my sandwich before he saw the hat!
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

BC's loss of talent (coaching) would be a GC gain.....hopefully....

Ah but BC's gain of talent (players) would be a loss to the rest of the ODAC.... hopefully.....

And on a more important note, the BC dance team recruited REAL well in 2005!  ;D

I think that the St Vincent question is a function of the fact that the school begins provisional status next year.

They add football in year 2 of Provisional Status.

By the 1st class of seniors, they are eligible for the playoffs as the Pres AC Pool A bid in that year, and not before as the NCAA has it set up now.

Congrats to Coach Colbert!

I know you the BC faithful will miss him but he will bring some excitement and more to the PAC and I am looking forward to see what he does with the program!

Well, from what I've seen and heard, everyone in the ODAC is trying to improve their talent (football, dancing, cheerleading and otherwise).  lol  I know, for example, when I went to Guilford's 7:00 pm basketball game on Dec. 29, Coach Kiesel was still in his office at 6:50.  Every ODAC program is hungry ....

Who is going to make the first prediction of the new year?

i will! st. vincent will NOT lose a football game in 2006. take it to the bank.

on a side note, thanks for all the kind words posted on here. they didn't go unnotice nor unappreciated.

also, this coming season i can finally be just a former player/alumnus on this board. so, although i still won't divulge anything that may be "insider" info, i can voice my opinion a little more. and along those lines, should soltis be named OC (and i don't know that he will or will not; i'm speculating like you guys are), he definitely is capable of keeping this machine going. hate to break it to the rest of the odac supporters on here, but don't expect the loss of the OC at bridgewater to translate into a 'down' year.

Agreed.  When I will say that none of our current success would have been possible without Coach Colbert, I do think he not only led us to where we are but also took Coach Soltis under his wing the past eight years they've worked together and has more than prepared him to take over the offense (if in fact he is named the OC).

with soltis named oc, could we possibly see a lot more love to the recievers?  The talent is definitely there and in the past, we liked to consider ourselves the playmakers.  I know soltis likes it to come down to the recievers because we were always hungry for the ball.

Congrats to Coach Colbert on his new opportunity!!!  I know that program is going to do some outstanding things.  Never looked at an offense and understood the objectives clearly until playing for Colbert.  I know he can mold the players even if the talent level isn't there.  It's not all about skill but execution.  (but it doesn't hurt to have an all american every now and then)

God point. No team will fall apart because of one player or one coach (normally). We others are just thinking maybe "another small chink in the armor".....small, yes even mircoscopic but maybe a place to slip in.

BC will be BC with or without the current coordinator. Hell the players stayed.......and that's what matters

Congrats to Coach Colbert!  I'm sad to see you go but the opportuninty awaiting in PA is a great one!  I hope the Colbert family enjoys more time together as you all will for the most part be within a few hours of each other.  :)

Thank you Coach Colbert it was a GREAT run at BC, thank you for your commitment and pride in the football program and to BC! You will be welcomed forever on the campus of Bridgewater College.  :)

abnrgr,
This past year shows how much of a difference a 'small chink' could have made, with HSC-W&L-BC all playing very competitive games to decide the top of the league.

BC may take some time to adjust, but the program is one that I believe can absorb this coaching change...similar to Mount Union this past season.

Sticky,
Interesting thought on what BC's offense could evolve towards if the WR coach is promoted to OC.  May depend on who the QB is (any word yet on if Lewis is coming back?).  I wouldn't be surprised to see a resurgence of the option at BC this upcoming season with Highfill and Young.

i don't think the offense would change much, if at all. "you pass to score points, you run to win". remember what drills we work on first in practice? i don't imagine that will change.

sticky! what's up man? how'd the interviews go ya old cripple ---?
