By the way.. is there a way anyone could point me in the direction of a HSC or RMC football shirt?  I've got a pretty good start on my ODAC t-shirt collection, I'd like to have one from both HSC and RMC.  :)
Most schools now have a link in their website to their Bookstore for online orders - I know Guilford does.

I've got the GC shirt.. the problem is some of the bookstores don't carry the team shirts.. BC has several different team t-shirts but they don't list them online.   I appreciate the help though! :)     <- Geez even our website stinks.. BC is awful...  ;)

What name calling?  Rightdownthehall, my problem with you is the "drug abuse" allegations you made about W&L.  You still haven't owned up to that.

When you cast aspersions and slander it will get some folks riled up.  I am one of them.

If you care enough to review my bio, look at my past posts, they have been pleasant except when you get involved.  Now finish your charge about the drugs with some kind of facts from police records or news accounts or apologize and we can go on from here.

Or maybe they didn't teach how to back up what you say.

WLU78

"...I'd be better off."

How does one measure that?  Obviously the first thought would be financially as a pretty objective way to measure "better off"

Since charitable giving is a function of ones financial means (since you cannot give more than you have) let's look at the two schools using that criteria:

Washington and Lee
Private institution
Year founded: 1749
Religious affiliation: None
Academic calendar: Other
Undergraduate student body: 1,760
Setting: Rural
Endowment: $477,504,000

Bridgewater College
Year founded: 1880
Religious affiliation: Church of the Brethren
Academic calendar: 4-1-4
Undergraduate student body: 1,532
Setting: Rural
Endowment: $51,038,527

Now, granted that W&L has been around some 131 years longer than BC and that might account for some of the difference in the size of the endowments.
Remember, no matter what "they" say, size matters when it comes to being endowed!

One could suppose the diffence in size might be related to gifts made to the school by alumni.  Or to paraphrase Patrick Ewing- we give more because we make more.

Now this more data is from US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT COLLEGE RATINGS, so
as far as all the BC posters who are now worried about being dumb, don't.  If you hadn't noticed until my earlier posts, you shouldn't worry about it now and just go on your merry little way.

Have a great weekend everybody!!

Thanks Jacketlawyer, we gotta have a little fun around here in the off season. Its almost like HSC week has come early this year.

Hey Hug,
It must be getting closer to time for communion! Aye? ;D ;D

Llamaguy-
I've got one chillin' in the ice box.

WLU78, are you trying to say that noone at W&L smokes pot? Are you saying that noone at W&L gets drunk on a regular basis? Cocaine has never met straw at any campus event? Just because it doesn't make the paper doesn't mean its not there. There are way too many spoiled little rich kids running around the campus to not have that type of activity.
WLU78, do you have a child that attends W&L right now? Just wondering if there is a reason for your denile.

Llamaguy--I try to keep the sense of humor locked and loaded, not to mention close, at all times.  Even at the expense of my own team and school.

Communion???  How do I get a piece of that action?  The Kool-Aid cocktail is gettin' low. 8)

BINGO!  When you hang around campus long enough during sporting events and over down time you tend to make friends you see and hear of things that go on that the president of a college may not know about!   This could be said for any school in the country.. but hey I'm not forcing anyone to trust me or take what I say for fact.. although drug abuse is something that should be addressed within the ODAC community as it is a true shame that such great schools have such dark issues.

No problem.  If anyone else wants something, let me know - or if you're in Greensboro for a game, I believe they now have the bookstore open on football Saturdays.  I've got a room in my house with exercise equipment and sports memorabilia  - maybe I'll create an ODAC wall with some sort of sign or car tag from each school.  If all the ACC fans can do it, why not us?  lol

And what does this have to do with football ???? Maybe you should look up the great diversity your school has if there is any diversity. Or the oppurtunities of young adults whose parents do not make over 6 figures who atend your school. Though I did not look this up I'm pretty sure you can find a number similar to the amount of times W&L has beaten BC since the conference has been renamed the BCAC.

That endowment is inflated a bit due to LONG term donations made by people like General Lee.  Also W&L has a grad school program which BC does not have, a law school at that.. so of course donations are going to be larger.  Like I said before when there was a comparison of ODAC titles.. you cannot compare schools against each other within the ODAC because they are VERY diverse.   (Some rich in academics, some all male, female, etc.) But then again endowments, large salaries do not equate happiness.. so it's a wash.  I have a relative that attended W&L  and I attended BC.. the differences when you take numbers and scores out of the equation are little.. both are great schools to attend and both allow their students to obtain GREAT jobs.. just attending a rich school does not get you a job.. character does.

Unfortunatetly you will have to wait until RMC comes to BC in 2007. One of our on field photographers was almost arrested for drinking coffee prior to the 2004 RMC/BC game at Farmville. Unless you live close enough to the stadium that we can set Stone Station up on your property, Communion and the good KoolAide will have to take place prior to arriving on campus. ;)

I actually live and work in Lynchburg, but I do have a few connections in Ashland which I'm not afraid to use.  If you guys are going to Ashland to see the 2006 edition of the BC/R-MC game, give me a head's up a few weeks before.

Just to keep the conversation rolling, check out this website: http://www.nacubo.org/documents/research/FY05NESInstitutionsbyTotalAssets.pdf if you are interested in seeing where your school's endowment ranks among all reporting schools in the USA.  This is fairly up-to-date information (Fiscal Year 2005) and shows how much it grew (or declined) from 2004 to 2005.  Through FY 2005, the 14 ODAC schools, by rank and dollars in thousands, are:

98.   W&L  $531,992
249. CUA  $160,449
288. RM WC $133,536
315. HSC $113,236
331. HU $101,150
338. RMC $98,614
340. RC $97,449
350. SBC $91,762
384. E&H $72,400
392. LC $70,108
439. GC $57,576
482. BC $48,817
523. VWC $39,678
660. EMU $18,369

ABSOLUTELY! We travel in numbers and arrive quite early for the pre-game experience. The numbers tend to worry some visiting venues, not to mention the times there is limited space and its homecoming or parents weekend.
For me the worst experience so far has to have been at HSC last year. They placed us within a small parkinglot with 3 police cars and officers waiting for someone to cross the line. Sure enough 2 gentlemen crossed the same street to use the port-a-john that the HSC tailgaiters had used all morning. You guessed it, wammo, those 2 got 12hrs in the local county jail and missed the entire game. Gotta love that all male school hospitality. ;)
