Sooooo yeah ... there won't be a Richmond Bandits game tonight.  The league made them forfeit the game as of noon today because they didn't give the other team game film (but they didn't because they hadn't received any pretty much all season by anyone).

Luckily Marcus Richardson called a mutual friend, who then called me to let me know of the cancellation.  I was 20 minutes into my trip to Richmond to attend the game.

So the Bandits' season is over.  The 2005 AIFL champs won't be able to defend their title.

I don't think I've ever heard of anything like the Bandits' forfeit -  surely that'll never happen for the NFL Super Bowl.  Too much $$$ at stake!

If/WHEN Jermaine makes the team, think anyone can hook me up with an Invite.  I would love to go see him play for the Bucs.  Even though I am a MUC grad, maybe you guys can hook me up since I now live in the Tampa Area.  All DIII players in the pros need some local fans right!?!?  I can get b4uknewit to go to the game with me and root for Jermaine.
Kirasdad,
Where are you in the Tampa area?  I lived there 15 yrs before returning to B-more.  Mother-in-law is in Riverview, which is where I'll be later this week.

I know NPR.  I was in Temple Terrace when I first moved there, then out in Westchase in NW Tampa until I left in '99.   Been to Pappa's lately?  If you're a golfer, have you played Copperhead?

Thanks, BrotherB.  There is also a short notice in today's Greensboro News & Record, but nothing that wasn't covered in your attachment from the college.

I drove through Guilford on my way back from Costco tonight.  The press box looks as though it's almost finished and they've started putting the landscaping around it.  The home bleachers are being assembled and the old scoreboard is in a heap of metal and concrete where they've just pulled it down.  The new scoreboard is in crates on the track, so I guess it'll be erected soon.  The field also looks good - it was aerated last week and the turf was riddled with plugs.  With all the rain, however, I couldn't see a single plug today and the grass is very green and full.

At least some of the player benches are being replaced and I know they're trying to raise some more funds to buy a complete set.  Someone in the athletic department also told me a new scoreboard is going up this summer on McBane Field (baseball).   Things are looking up, so I hope it results in some more success on the playing fields!

I did more than just drive by Guilford...

Sat down with Coach Kiesel for almost two hours today and talked Guilford and ODAC football...part of a larger piece I hope to write on the Quakers...

Looks like good things continuing to brew in G-boro.

hasanova...I'm hoping to make it down to the Soup Bowl.

Guess this is a little hint as to who Mr Cummings will pick to be the 2006 ODAC Football Champion? *wink, wink*  ;D

What came out of the GC-Q conference with Coach K?

Is this kid Vogelbach a flash or is he the real deal. Is sophomoreitis possible?

Give us what the Army calls a "thumb nail read ahead".

I find it hard to concur with the esteemed (and usually correct) LLama. I just cannot see a "culture of failure" being overcome in one year.

You'll have to wait until the preview comes out to see who I'll project number one...let's just say this - I find the ODAC more wide open this year than in any of my previous years of covering it...

Most basic thumbnail sketch of the meeting...those in the Guilford athletic department have something to be excited about over the summer: waiting for camp to start, and then the season...first time they can say that in a long time.
Hard to fathom a team with just 55 guys played no huddle 100% of the time last year...expect a camp larger by about 60%.  More will come...but you will have to wait for the preview.
