My understanding is that school's can't announce scrimmages.

It's usually spread by word of mouth among parents and diehard fans to the chagrin of the coaches.
Interesting.  I didn't know that.  Thanks.

Well, I don't know that for sure.

I saw one school (someone in Texas, I believe) post a press release on D3football.com a couple weeks ago about their scrimmage.  That threw me off, because before that, I never saw a school release that information.

Is the August 25 scrimmage between the Wasps and Averett in Emory or in Danville? I've never been to E&H.  I was born and raised in southwest Virginia, so I might make the trip this fall when the Quakers visit.  Peace.  I am the Guilford grad

The campus is beautiful.  Just a stone's throw away from I-81.  77 to 81 ought to do that trick nicely.  Never seen E&H play on their home turf, though.

E and H Dad keeps the quality info coming....not sure who Avert College is, but I heard EH has a scrimmage vs. Averett coming up.

Just jokes, I'll stop busting your chops at some point.

On a completely different note, I haven't heard much about Catholic this offseason? Currently on the West Coast and only game I think I'll be able to make it to is W and L at Catholic and I'm curious if I'm going to see a decent game or a blowout?

Catholic just got a new football coach, I believe, so we'll have to wait and see.  Lot of that going around in the ODAC.

Thanks, Jacketlawyer, good to hear from you.  I've driven the I-77 and I-81 corridors many times and have passed the Emory exit more trips than I can count, but my travel schedule has never permitted a visit.  Hopefully, I'll make it this fall.  Also, I understand the Quakers are the scheduled 2006 Homecoming fodder up in Ashland.  With any luck, I'd like to make that game as well.  Maybe, just maybe, we can spoil that party again as we did in 2000!  lol  :)  Peace

Hasanova, though I doubt the Quakes will be fodder for my Yellow Jackets, my sense of humor will be intact.  If you come up, I will make every effort to be there, and I may bring Jacketlawyerette (who is as fun to look at as she is cool to hang out with), who is a fellow R-M alum.

I don't really expect much out of our team this year, to be perfectly frank.  6-4 would exceed my wildest dreams, but I doubt we will do this.  I think I will settle for close games this year with the Quakes and the Eagles.  Of course, I'd love to beat Hampden-Sydney.  Five straight years of losing to those guys leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth.  But I don't think we will do this, either.

Of course, I will be very, VERY happy to be proven wrong. 8)

FYI - Quakers scrimmage at Newport News Apprentice Saturday, August 26.

What time is the scrimmage. So I can do some early scouting.. ;D
I honestly don't know ... and now I'm not sure I would tell you if I did!   lol :)  All kidding aside, maybe NNA has posted it.  I haven't seen it on Guilford's site.  All I heard was a recorded message on Guilford's Sports Hotline saying there would be a scrimmage, but no time was mentioned.  I'll give you one tip, however  .... Vogelbach will start at QB.  Surprise!  lol

I didn't know that Vogelbach was starting. ??? I thought that kid Bomar from OU, you know that sold you your last car was starting. Well, both have a cannon for a arm..  ;D

-- Maybe I'll catch a few of you there!!!!

I forgot to to say thanks for the info about the scrimmage. I need to see some live action A.S.A.P. Plus, I can get a look at one of the good teams in the ODAC. And remember 2nd best is always better than 3rd.. j/k

There'll be a fall game at R-Macon
With Quaker backs jukin' and fakin'?
'Nova may go
With Novette in tow.
Is it legal the foursome we're takin'?

I hope the Jackets have a good year (except, of course, for one game! lol).  Jacketlawyerette sounds wonderful.  I can say exactly the same about Hasanovette.  She's not a Quaker, but she is an ECU Pirate, so she loves football and parties!  lol  I'll mark it on my calendar and see how it goes.

You're welcome.  I'm also ready to see the Quakers hit someone else besides each other.  lol  Sorry I can't give you a time.  That's a long trip, so I'm guessing afternoon so they can drive back Saturday night.  Yeah, we have Rhett Bomar from the Sooners!  lol  If he works for Rice Toyota in Greensboro, then I'm guilty.  lol  I sure hope we finish in the top 3 this fall.  We have four ODAC road game, though, so it might be tough.  That brings up a sore point.  How does the ODAC allow some teams to have two home ODAC games one year and four the next?  What's so hard about a 3-3 slate for all league teams every year?

Just glanced through the D3 kickoff mag. Some interesting predictions. Proud to see the Kid included among the prognosicators.

If you haven't signed up yet you'll want to. Just a little tease.... check out Pat Cummings projections as well as the kid's, very interesting.!!

BTW- Llama and folks who watched last Saturday's BC pigskin preview have been very tight lipped (other than those cryptic messages) ;). Can't tell if you are nervous or think Mike has an ace under his hat and a full house.  In any event i'd hate to see the eagles take themselves too seriously and have a 3rd opening loss to McD in 3 years.

I would like more specific observations about progress by the O line. We've got the skill players if we can open holes and give the QB a little time.

EHCPride

The Waspers will be making the trip to Danville tomorrow.  Odd considering Emory started classes this past Tuesday.  You'd think Monty would decide not to let the players miss the first "real" day of class.  Tomorrow also marks the first time the Oline will be really tested.  Let's hope they aren't as porous as last year and Woods gets the opportunity to work his magic.

Just got back from the Hargrave-Bridgewater scrimmage.  Watched it with Hug, Llama and others.  I'll have something on my fan site about it later ... it was a good time.

Man kid, you are teasing me with this hargrave game today... I can't wait till I see your Mel Kiper analysis of the game. I hate being 300 miles east of the best football program in VA. Well at least Busch Gardens is close!!! ;D

Alright I can handle the teasing... especially if the result is positive.
