Is the tailgaiting situation at McDaniel the same as it used to be where you can park and watch the game from your vehicle on the visitors side?  It was that way four years ago, but I didn't make it to the game last time we were up there.

Going to need lots of beer to keep me dry....

Yes, the tailgating is the same.  Llamaguy will have Stone Station up and running early.  See you there!

Great game Cards. Congrats to everybody on the team for opening up with a win, and getting Coach Dunn's first W real quick.
Nick Olivero is amazing. What you saw kid, was what everybody else who watched Catholic last year already knew he could do. He is an elite athelete and an amazing competitor. Remember he is a contributing member of Catholic's basketball team as well.
I like the sacks for Catholic on the box score. All five players who got in on that action are sophomores, including 4 D-lineman who really have to step up this year after not seeing a lot of time as freshman. Hopefullly this result is a sign of their future success.

Well, I hate to say it but if last nights game has any indication on how the season is going to go for the Hornets I would be surprised if they win 1 game.

I was at the game last night and the offense just plain stunked up the house last night. The Hornets had ONLY 84 yards for the entire game! AWFUL! 1.8 avg. yards an attempt. This is one of the problems I have with the love that Barnes has with the Ace-Wing. Everyone knows the Hornets are going to run then run, then run, then run again and then maybe just maybe he will pass the ball. But the pass is a long shot because he will most likely run again. I just wish they would mix it up some to get the opponents defense off the line some. Everyone just clogs up the middle and the Hornets running backs have no chance.

I have to give a hand to the D-team. They played with heart and with being on the field for over 35 min's Im sure they were exhausted. I have to tip my hat to the CUA players however. They played a great game. Also played with alot of class. Good luck to ya the rest of the year.

Man I hope what I saw last night was not the norm for this 2006 team for if it was its going to be a looooooong season.    Iam not looking forward to next week against Bridgewater. Im almost afraid to see what the final score will be on that one.

GO HORNETS! I still love you guys
Here is the box score if anyone would like to see it. http://www.su.edu/athletics/fb/2006/083106.htm

Here is the Winchester Star newspaper's article about the game as well. Pretty interesting. Also a quote from it. "I think that (pass) caught them off guard," Sabrick said. "You've got to have a balanced game to win.  This is a CUA players quote. Something Barnes should learn.

The box score doesn't do this game justice.  Phew, it was one of the shortest games (time wise) I've ever been to, but one of the longest as far as the play on the field.  I felt like there were times when it was slow motion ... very conservative play calling on both sides of the ball.  I saw one reverse and a handful of heaves downfield ... other than that, short tosses and simple runs.  *yawn*

I was hoping to see Ricca pass 50 times and/or Shenandoah move the ball on the ground.  I saw neither.  Catholic will have a chance versus La Salle, R-MC and E&H ... but I don't see who else they can beat on the schedule.  I see Shenandoah going 0-10, no joke.

It looks like Ricca's 50 attempt games are over. Tom Clark's influence on the offense is gone, which should mean a more conservative Catholic program than people are used to seeing.
Meanwhile Tom Clark's defense at Liberty picked up a shutout last night, so he started off his new position with a successful win.

If I was a Liberty Fan, I wouldn't start dancing in the streets just yet.  They played St. Pauls which is NAIA.  Got some nice transfers though.  Running back from Pitt and an O-Lineman from UVA.

Good news for current Guilford players and members of visiting teams - those #%&^@!*$ sorry worn-out eyesore team benches are finally being replaced!   I (and a few others) complained so much that new ones have been purchased (of course, as a reward for my complaining I was asked to pay for one - and I did! lol).  I'm not sure if they'll be in place by the September 2 opener, but they'll certainly be there by September 30.  As you would expect, the four new benches will be on the Guilford sideline and the best used benches will have some needed repairs and be moved to the visitor side.  The worst benches will, thankfully, be tossed in the trash!

Also, while talking with some folks at Guilford, I got a little more information on scheduled Phase II renovations at Armfield Athletic Center.  The visitor bleachers will be replaced for next season, the playing surface will have Field Turf and the entrance/ticket patio area will be expanded and enhanced.  When it's all done, it sounds as though Herb Appenzeller Field at Armfield Athletic Center will be a very nice place worthy of winning football teams and their fans.

Go Quakers!

nnasid, You are exactly right.  Sorry for the confusion.  Still, if I was Liberty, there is a lot of questions to be answered before the Wake Forest game.  Time will tell....

Go Bridgewater.  I'll be checking in via cell phone with my Buddy Llama.  Pound a few for me!  No wait, I'll pound a few once I arrive at the beach!

If one had purchased the D3 Kickoff, you would have known Olivero was stepping out as he was profiled in our "Where did he come from" segment for CUA.

whats up guys...i am new to this...but as life long player and fan of the game I love opportunities to discuss the game with men such as yourselves.

I would like to say that EHC is my team, although they have been down the last couple of years under Coach Wacker and new coach Don Montgomery. The Wasps will sting the ODAC again.

I do have some questions that will probably be answered in tomorrows opener v. Marrietta.

1. Why does Montgomery play the same 5 linemen the entire game at Marrietta when they obviosly needed a rotation? Not to say that they were not good, but they were tired and the team needed something different against a defense with so much speed.

2. In game 2 at home I saw 3 different linemen, all of which stayed in the game the entire time. Why doesnt Monty get a rotation going for those guys?

3. Why in the world would he leave a lineman in the game when he is getting killed when he had guys that had started in previous games sitting on the bench. He had a decent starting 5 for Marrietta, then throughout the season all of the 1st 5 were benched. He had one guy in there, that couldnt have weighed 200lbs soakin wet, gettin creamed by a huge defensive lineman when he has a couple 300 pounders that can play sittin the bench. I dont understand his offensive line scheme.

But, tomorrow will tell the tale. Will Monty have a big strong line or one that looks like a couple of giants with midget friends?

I suspect Coach Monty has his reasons.  I don't doubt any move he makes, his record as a DC speaks for itself.  Most likely had depth issues and questions last year with players who did not "get it" yet, but this is just speculation.  Year 2 should be better with more of Monty's Recruits and another year of his conditioning under their belts.  The man was way ahead of his time as a strenght and conditioning coach at Mount Union.

CBE, Llamaguy and kid, coming to you live from CBE's house in Maryland...

The weather is just spitting some rain ... but the wind is back to normal and by noon the sun should be out (so the local weather man says).  So hopefully both McDaniel and Bridgewater will get to showcase both their talents w/out weather being a part of it.

We're leaving in about 15 minutes to setup Stone Station!  It should be a-rockin' around 10:00 am.

Skoal, I'll let my pooch drink one for you!
