ahhhh...season starts!...sorry I can't make it to the Mc attack live, but I'll be wearing vintage 2002 ODAC champ sweatshirt and 2004 ballcap as I'm tune to A.M. 1360...GO EAGLES !

Yep, about the same thing here, except I will be checking in at D3Football (Bless you agan, Pat C) for updates while I work the yard to pick up after Senor Ernesto, as said atmospheric brouhaha didn't dropped trees in my portion of Northern Virginia, but brought down about everything else...

Go BC!
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

whats up guys...i am new to this...but as life long player and fan of the game I love opportunities to discuss the game with men such as yourselves.

I would like to say that EHC is my team, although they have been down the last couple of years under Coach Wacker and new coach Don Montgomery. The Wasps will sting the ODAC again.

I do have some questions that will probably be answered in tomorrows opener v. Marrietta.

1. Why does Montgomery play the same 5 linemen the entire game at Marrietta when they obviosly needed a rotation? Not to say that they were not good, but they were tired and the team needed something different against a defense with so much speed.

2. In game 2 at home I saw 3 different linemen, all of which stayed in the game the entire time. Why doesnt Monty get a rotation going for those guys?

3. Why in the world would he leave a lineman in the game when he is getting killed when he had guys that had started in previous games sitting on the bench. He had a decent starting 5 for Marrietta, then throughout the season all of the 1st 5 were benched. He had one guy in there, that couldnt have weighed 200lbs soakin wet, gettin creamed by a huge defensive lineman when he has a couple 300 pounders that can play sittin the bench. I dont understand his offensive line scheme.

But, tomorrow will tell the tale. Will Monty have a big strong line or one that looks like a couple of giants with midget friends?

I suspect Coach Monty has his reasons.  I don't doubt any move he makes, his record as a DC speaks for itself.  Most likely had depth issues and questions last year with players who did not "get it" yet, but this is just speculation.  Year 2 should be better with more of Monty's Recruits and another year of his conditioning under their belts.  The man was way ahead of his time as a strenght and conditioning coach at Mount Union.

Yeah I know what you mean. I know Coach Montgomery and have played for him. I know his defensive mind is rivaled by none. But, I do question his offense. When Dewey was Offensive Coordinator the offense was in the national top 10 in total offense, but the deffense was probably in the last 10. Montgomery is a defensive genious but a rookie on the offensive side. He played as an offensive lineman and a small one he was. I know that he was a great player in his day and that he understands the offense. I just dont think you should fix something that isnt broken. But i believe in due time he will take the wasps back to the top. I just hate it when people say that things will get better when he gets his people in there. Well what about the guys that are there now. They can win games in the ODAC.

Great win for the Quakers over Ferrum, 49-35, on a sunny 80-degree day in Greensboro.   I don't have official stats, but QB Vogelbach set a new Guilford record with 6 TD passes (4 in the first half).  He had about 5 balls dropped today and only had one Interception. To be honest, the score should not have been that close.  Guilford led 35-7 at the half, should have gone up 42-7 on dropped TD passes and then there was a momentum shift in the 3rd.  Guilford rebounded in the 4th to go up 49-28 and then gave up a meaningless TD to Ferrum with 16 seconds to go for the final score.  In my opinion, it could (should?) have been about 56-21 because the Guilford receivers dropped 3 sure TD passes on one drive in the 3rd Quarter and Ferrum got a gift on two of their scores.  On one series, GC punter Travis Frazier took a low snap and the refs ruled his knee touched on the 21.  FC capitalized by throwing a TD up the middle on the next play.  I have personally not seen that happen in a long time - maybe in HS.

Honestly, Guilford had Ferrum pinned back almost all day, especially in the first half and the Quakers seemed to score at will in the first 30 minutes.  The lone first half score for the Panthers was a 74 yard run up the left side by QB Jermaine Pitts.  Most of Guilford's first half possessions started between the 45's and at least three times Guilford punts or kickoffs pinned FC around the 1 or 2 yard line.

Guilford had (I think) nearly 90 yards rushing out of the FB position and, believe it or not, seems to have some offensive balance despite the 6 passing TDs (the other was a rushing TD by the FB on a short and goal).  I know it's early, but other than QB Pitts, I don't think FC is as good as they were last year.  By the way, this is a 48-point swing from last year's 41-7 drubbing on opening day at Ferrum.

Go Quakers!  Great win today.

I was wondering about the Bridgewater game, too, and if they played in a downpour.

BC won, 41-0.   According to the box score the game was played in a 'light rain.'

Thanks.
That's a pretty decisive win.

congrats to the alma mater on a nice first win. how bout the 505 total yards and 318 on the ground, one sack allowed, one punt. i like it. looking at the drive charts, looks like the BC offense marched and marched and marched. good to see. also props to higgison's D holding mcdaniel under 200 yards of offense. good day all around. go iggles.

Agreed with Has's post. Quick stats for you:
Team:
71 plays, 424 yds; 8 of 12 on 3rd down; 7-7 in red zone... it said they had 25 rushes but i dont know where they got if from. i thought it'd be 20 tops.

Ind:
Josh Vogelbach 31-46-1-338 (6 tds, New GC record... old record was 5, which he threw 5 times last year. He has also hit 300 yds in 6 straight games)
Chris Barnette 11-134 (1 td)
Joe Joyner 7-73 (2 tds)
Micah Rushing 7-68 (3 tds)

Langston lead tackling with 8 solo 4 ast

... GC is picking up right where they left off. 3rd quarter they came out slow, but got in done when it came down to it. Great win fellas.

1st opening day win for the quake since '99.
5 game win streak (6 of 7). It's not BC, but gotta start some where.  ;)
