Guilford is going to look like a JV team compared to what the Cougars have seen the last two weeks. The V-bach kid can sling it but I think Averett just out - athletes them everywhere else. The run is over - good story though! (can't wait to hear reactions to this  :) )

haha... welcome to the ODAC board. The BC crew will be happy to see some "anti-GC" talk coming from somewhere else.  ;)

As far as your message. I agree, GC will be a drop down from what they have seen the last two weeks... but then again, Averett didn't exactly keep it close the last two weeks. Not to mention the AU pass D let up 231 yd/game and 7 tds through 2 games.
It's funny you say that the cougars will "out-athlete" the Guilford squad, because last time I checked there are some pretty solid athletes in the GC lineup.
But hey, everyone has their own opinion. Mine would be 38-28 Guilford.

I think 38-28 is a pretty fair prediction, but...um...you misspelled Averett.  ;)

I agree with Eh-You to a degree. But Guilford is no pushover, not by a longshot. Averett, though, showed many more signs of life against Wesley than against Mount. The 38-17 score from the Wesley game isn't indicative of the majority of play. Averett was on Wesley's heels until late in the third quarter when things fell apart. Playing strong for the full 60 minutes is the sign of a great team, and Averett certainly isn't there yet and it cost them.

But Guilford's strength seems to be the team's ability to exploit weaknesses -- and Averett has several. I think, at the very least, this will be the best nonconference game Guilford plays all season.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Yeah, from what I've seen out of the first two weeks from both teams, I think Averett will win by about that amount.

Averett is finally ready to give their fans something to smile about. And I take it as a very good sign that the team has made it through weeks 1 and 2 without any major injuries.

Got ya. I'll stick with GC but I still think AU has a shot at the USAC title.

You mean I can't sway you to root for Averett this weekend?  :D

That is alot of crap to be talking for a team that hasn't even won a game yet. Let alone even be close to winning a game yet. Just a question for topic, how many all-americans does Averett have on their team right now and how many does Guilford have? So that would answer the discussion about how many athletes Guilford has. Another thing is that the entire recieving core at Guilford makes Averett's look like JV players.

Seeing as how Avertt has played Mount Union AND Wesley I think they have room to talk even though they have yet to win a game.  Those two teams are much tougher teams than the two GC has played.  Hell BC may be 0-2 against those two teams... it may be going a little far to claim GC will look like a JV team but Avertt has had a tough schedule.

Also, the All-American award isn't given out until the end of the season.. it's a new season.. past All-American awards are nice but it's 2006 not 2005.

quakes75 - I can understand how Eh-You got you and some other folks stirred up.  It's obvious that's what he was trying to do.  Eh-You is right when he says AU's first two opponents are stronger than Guilford and their first two opponents, but his "JV" comment may end up on the Quaker bulletin board.  So be it.   Wait until about 4 PM on Saturday.  If AU wins, then tell the Cougars congratulations.   If Guilford wins - and I also think they can - remind him of his post in any way you see fit.  Just file it away until you need it.  :)

Yes you are right about the all american part, but Rushing has already gotten a national award with player of the week and barnette has gotten a pre-season all american award. Barnette has had two 10 plus catches in both games so far. Both teams Guilford played this year split their conference championship as well. Now both those teams have lost great players since last year but they are still good teams.

Yes I also do recognize that Averett has played two better caliber teams than Guilford but you cannot call Guilford a J.V. team when they have not lost yet and your team has lost twice and it doesn't matter who they lost to they have still lost.

quakes75,
The point is Eh-You made some crazy claims and I understand why you responded with your claims.. but Hasa is right.. just let the guy live in his world of delusion until Saturday afternoon.

When it comes to ODAC teams/fans vs. everyone else I'll always side with the ODAC.. Eh didn't bring his A game and it shows.  ;) :D

quakes75

yeah i know that is why i started writing on here though and that is so that I can talk a little and defend my school. I am right there with you on defending the ODAC teams though. Also I do understand what hasa is saying about waiting and I will.
