Kid,

Yes that means I'll be at the game this week.  It has just about killed me to miss the first 2 games, and I have not missed a home game for 8 YEARS until last Saturday.   :(

But I'll be riding in on the alumni bus and we won't make it by 10:00 AM so I just wanted to be sure there would be at least one autograph for me, but then you said $10.....but thanks for missing me.

Shoot ... had I known he was going to do a write up about his experience, I would have hooked him up with the leaders of Stone Station (John Coleman, Bo Morris, etc.).  My bad guys ... didn't mean to take the credit. :)

Scott - I do have pictures for you.  I'll email them tonight.  The best one is when Bowman caught a pass and you see Ricca in the background.

Glad you enjoyed your stay at Stone Station, Scott. Thanks for the kind words. We are pretty humble when people rave about Stone Station, I always point out two things: 1) Its no fun drinking alone, and 2) Stone Station is only as good as its next piece of chicken, pork bbq, brat, burger, or dog. We do it because its fun to socialize, drink, and talk D3 Football with folks from all over the country. ;)

I had one of those autographs on a little square, white piece of paper but I used it up. Yes I really had to go that bad, sorry Kid. ;D

Mama,
Stone Station should be up and running by 10:30am, stop by as we will have plenty of chili & cornbread to go around. ;) See you there!

This story is really hard to believe.  For starters (I just realized that's a pun), how did Cozad expect to get away with it?  He only injured the first-stringer and they're teammates!  Mendoza could certainly pick him out of a lineup.  Second, are you trying to tell me you can't find a more remote place than a convenience store parking lot to pull the tape off your licence plate?  I've been to northern Colorado - trust me, they have trees and mountains!  Third, is the punter's position at Northern Colorado so coveted that someone is willing to do this?  I guess so.   Maybe there's been someone from UNC who's been drafted, but what are the odds they'll play in the NFL?  Mendoza was only averaging about 37.5 yards and he beat out Cozad!  Finally, if you were the police, who would you look to for a motive?  Let's see, there's the 2nd string punter and this sounds eerily similar to the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan case - what do you say we check out Cozad?

Not a well-reasoned plan!  Sort of like the bank robber who gave the teller a hand-written note scribbled on the back of one of his preprinted bank deposit slips!    :-\

Good luck to Mendoza.  I hope he makes a quick recovery.  No one deserves this!

And to think the second guy listed on this page has turned into that.  Sad ... really sad.

As I was sitting here, not able to sleep, I started thinking of some of the interesting facts of this weekend's game between the W.A.S.P.S and the Battling Bishops.  At least on the coaching level, traveling to Fullerton Field will be a homecoming of sorts for Coach Jack Ginn (E&H '87).  Ginn got his coaching start at E&H in the fall of '87, left for a brief period, then came back to coach the secondary for six years.  Also standing on the opposite sideline for the first time will be former E&H stars Gerald Jones and Pat Walker.  Jones started every game during his time at Emory and was a three time ODAC All-Conference Player.  Walker (E&H '92) is a former Field General for the Wasps and two time All-ODAC pick.  Lord knows the mix of emotions those three will be feeling on Saturday.

It is also interesting to note that Jones spent time at Mount before coming to NCWC.  He certainly is familiar with Monty, serving as his DB coach, but I believe he was there to coach current E&H staffers Stan Watson and Anthony Frate.  This leads to the final piece of the puzzle- Frate coached receivers at NCWC last year and is coaching the secondary at Emory this year.  Certainly his inside knowledge of both programs will prove key this weekend.  Will the members of Emory's secondary know every nuance of NCWC's receiving corps on Saturday? We can only hope so...

Pat Coleman

The ODAC is also 1-0 against Battling Bishops teams this season.

:D  Thanks!  I hope you all have a good time at the game!  Ferrum always brings back memories of their football recruiter coming into my high school and trying to sell the school based on the fact that they have "water gun" fights the first few weeks of school.  Sounds like a wild and crazy place....  :o

Actually, Ferrum used to be out of control when it was a junior college.  I know several alumni who spent two years feeling no pain there. . . .

Yeah doesn't look like there is much else to do a Ferrum other than go outside and do stupid stuff. That place is absolutely in the middle of no  where
