GuilfordSchmilford.

It's R-MC/CUA week.

Damn man, this used to be a huge game.

At least it's always entertaining.

Just a has been stopping in to reminisce and pull for the Jackets this week.

Carry on with your meaningful conversations ...

I remember those days.
I still remember that game you had against us.
The 50-50 tie.
the CUA comeback in 99.
the Macon comeback in 00
It used to be such a rivalry

The teams aren't what they used to be, but I think this game will be a great one.  A lot of youth on both teams.  Both teams are starting a combined eight seniors.

I hope that GC plays from the first half this year, b/c if we would have done that last year the 47 would have been on our side. Good Luck to the Quakers this weekend.

Sorry to hear about the death Hasa
Thanks, quakes75

Actually, I think Guilford once played Schmilford when we were in the NAIA.  Was it 0-0 or 49-47?  I can't remember since we change our offensive strategy every few years.  Only kidding!  This is a big week for the Jackets and the Cardinals.  Both are 2-1 and this game could set the tone for the rest of their seasons.

I agree we need to take this one, and that it will set the tone for the rest of the season.  I'm glad we entered ODAC play.

I just noticed that the ODAC has the following mascots:
Wasps
Hornets
Yellow Jackets

You sure have the flying/stinging insect mascots covered!   ;D

Maybe we should be the Old Dominion Apiary Conference.  Hollins has no nickname, so there's room for one more.  May I suggest the Honey Bees?

Thanks, olinemom.  Hey, do you and jacketlawyer have part ownership in any restaurants and hotels in downtown Lexington or are you on retainer from the Chamber of Commerce?  lol  I know it's a great trip - I've enjoyed it every time.  I'll think about it some more.  :)  A quick story about W&L football - in 1991 my car was in the shop and I had already promised to go to the game in Lexington with my then 9-year old son.  So, at the last minute, I was forced to borrow from my brother a raggedy '71 dark green stepside Chevy pickup with FARM USE ONLY tags and a treated lumber 2x12 for the front bumper.  Well, it was Homecoming at the "Double-U-N-L" and the only place I could find to park was to squeeze between a new silver Jaquar sedan and a vintage chauffeur-driven black Rolls-Royce.  They probably thought the Beverly Hillbillies had just rolled into town, but we struck up a pretty nice conversation.  I offered them some KFC extra crispy and a 5-gallon sheetrock compound bucket for a seat and they offered me some pate de foie gras and a tax tip on how to write off camouflage duct tape as a business expense.  lol  Anyway, they got to try KFC for the first time in their life and I got to eat pate for free one more time!  I offered to repair a broken flask with the duct tape, but they said no.  Go figure.  All kidding aside, they were good folks and understood that sometimes you do what you have to do!  They were careful, too.  After the game, I didn't see a single ding on our doors with either silver or black paint.  :)

Yeah, don't you hate it when someone in one of them thar "furrin" cars puts a dent in your nice John Deere green pick up!  That makes me hotter than a high school cheerleader on prom night.  Sorry, Lord, and bless all the pygmies in New Guinea or whatever it is.

Gotta pull for your boys over the bowties this week, Hasa.  But on the other hand, I don't want HSC to be 0-3 and looking for blood next week against BC.  Well, good luck, anyway.

GO EAGLES!  Beat those ZZTop impersonators!

GO BC!

Random stat...

Emory & Henry and Randolph-Macon, through five combined games, haven't thrown an interception.

And it's not because they don't throw it.  They've combined for 135 total passes ... 27 attempts a game.

Actually, I know a few Mary Baldwin alumnae and I believe they're the "Squirrel Girls".  :)  I stand by my original statement that Hollins has no nickname.

D3Waterboy

Hasa..you are as right as an acorn...Mary Baldwin are the squirrels...Hollins goes nameless...less we get that cute "Honey Bees" name adopted...

I thought I remembered reading that LaGrange would travel to BC for 2006 AND 2007, then BC would not travel there until 2008.  Does that ever happen and does anyone know for sure about going there in 2007?  Didn't BC play Shenandoah at home and then at their place a couple years in a row?  I tried to find the article in the archives from last year when they made those arrangements with LaGrange but had no luck.

I believe the Shenandoah deal was due to their stadium not being ready for play the first year and we needed a home game the next year, thus we went up there two years in a row to even things out. LaGrange has facilities so I would assume we would travel next year.

That is how I know it..  LaGrange has a great stadium!   8)
