Well the Generals face the Yellow Jackets this Sat.  Is the RMC defense that good or have their opponents offenses been that weak?

Hope the Generals can keep their stride offensively and notch their first ODAC win.

Washington & Lee Generals 2 Time Football National Champions!!

....and looking for an ODAC win next week!!!

Bwana,

LaGrange got two big plays in the second quarter on the first team.  They scored in the final quater against the backups on a decent drive.  The defense forced four turnovers, but I think on to the big plays was a result of the DB's getting greedy.  Two DB's went up for the interception and the reciver wound up catching the ball and running it in for a touchdown.  All in all, I think it was a pretty good defensive preformance except for two plays.

Correction RM, Alex Wilkins is NOT first team and he gave up the long TD just prior to the half. Not that it really matters as a score is a score. ;)
R_M and Llama-

Thanks for the skinny...this leaves me feeling moderately confident as the ODAC portion of the schedule comes into view...
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

Bwana

We are entering the ODAC portion of the schedule, and I have a question for those who have seen the various teams play and who-more importantly-have a handle on the playoff selection process.

My question is this-do you see anyone in the ODAC who has a realistic chance to make the NCAA playoffs with a loss, or will this be another "must get the automatic bid to qualify" year for the conference?

The only way I see 2 ODAC teams getting in is if someone other than BC gets the ODAC automatic bid. In this senerio if BC has only one loss they would likely get a Pool C bid with a 9-1 record, thus allowing 2 ODAC teams into the playoffs. With W&L already with a loss and HSC & Guilford with two, their only way in is to win the ODAC. ;)

Jermaine Taylor update....
I talked to JT earlier this afternoon.  He's flying out to Detroit on Tuesday to work out for the Lions.  The new HC there was on the defensive staff of the Bucs last year.  I'll let everyone know how it went when I hear from him after Tuesday.  There is a slight chance he'll make it up for H-coming this weekend.  Good Luck JT!!

Some interesting things about leet for you, hasanova:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pron
Interesting.  Thanks.  Some things I did not know, but now won't forget.

Matt Barnhart (kid)

The ODAC is now...

14-7 overall
6-1 vs the USAC
2-0 vs the NCAC
2-0 vs the ACFC
2-1 vs the SCAC
1-0 vs IND
1-4 vs the CC
0-1 vs the OAC

There are only six non-conference games remaining this season:

Methodist (USAC) at Emory and Henry (Sept. 30)
Greensboro (USAC) at Guilford (Sept. 30)
La Salle (DI-AA) at Catholic (Oct. 14)
Dickinson (CC) at Hampden-Sydney (Oct. 28)
Hampden-Sydney at Johns Hopkins (CC) (Nov. 4)
Washington & Lee at Case Western Reserve (UAA) (Nov. 11)

This guarentees the ODAC a .500+ winning percentage this season.  And with the above non-conference schedule remaining, I think we can grealy improve upon our 12-15 record in 2005.

GO ODAC!

hasanova-I know you have been waiting for this game all year GC v GC.  One thing is for sure GC will win. :D

I want to know what the ODAC thinks about score predictions?

Note this:

Greensboro leads the series 5-4.  Last year's game was a 36-35 win for Guilford.
Greensboro was 1-9 last year Guilford was 5-5.  Last time Greensboro played at Guilford, Greensboro won.

Greensboro is 2-3 at (HOME) Guliford is 3-2 at (AWAY)
Greensboro is 3-1 at (AWAY) Guilford is 1-3 at (HOME)

As high scoring as I think this could be.  My guess is Greensboro pulls it out 24 to 21.

I am looking forward to the game for several reasons.  First, it's become a great rivalry that supports a good cause (don't forget to bring some cans of food).  Second, my neighbor across the cul-de-sac is a Greensboro alumnus.  He's from metro New York, so I can't possibly hope to shut him up completely, but I do hope to contain him for another year.  lol  Third, it's also Guilford's Homecoming, so that's always fun.  Fourth, Guilford is dedicating the stadium renovations and renaming the field for a friend of mine, former Coach and AD Herb Appenzeller.  Fifth, I expect plenty of points.  I think your prediction is too low.  I'm looking for an over and under of 70 or more.  I say Guilford 45, Greensboro 41 (fingers crossed).  lol

Seriously, if any Greensboro fans want to name a meeting place and time, I'll look you up and say hello.  If the weather is good, I'm expecting a great crowd.

It would be great to meet up, but I don't know what it looks like for me. Greensboro is having a Greek Week all week and since I am part of that, I have to be handling all that.  We will be tailgating at that game.  I don't know where we are set-up yet. (I haven't even did my afro wig gig this year.)

Yeah I know my score seems low, but I look at it this way years following a high scoring game whether it be one sided high scoring. The next games are low scoring.  (15-14 games 13-7 games)  Last year was a high scoring game.  It will be high scoring again but not as high, based on my little theory.  Which is where I came up with the score for this weekend.

Reaction from the HSC-GC game, anyone?  I saw Vogelbach has his usual big-stat game.  I like how H-SC won with the ground game - with Owens and Simpson, that's very smart.  Two of their better athletes.  All the Tigers had to do was get a lead then run, run, run.  Anyone actually go to the game (I'm going off the box score - also listened to the final eight-or-so minutes once the BC game was over).

So I don't post very often, but I did go see the HSC-GC game and here are a few reactions!  First off let me just say that I am a BC grad, who lives in Farmville.  So here we go!  The QB Vogelbach makes a lot of good passes.  He really does throw a good ball, but sometimes he makes bad decisions.  He likes to pass into triple coverage............and sometimes leaves his WRs in bad situations.  Many times a WR would make a catch but get hit in mid air! (I don't know names, but GC's number 9 is good!)   I will say though that his WRs are no joke.  Those guys have great hand-eye coordination!  A couple passes were tipped and they still caught them on the way down.  It was impressive.  Vogelbach can be made to throw picks with the rush, example the Int returned for the TD.  he was getting pressured and he threw it up.

HS-C played a very consistant game, but nothing too spectacular.  But they ran it effectively when they needed to.   If GCs defense could have made any stops they probably would have won.  The best stop they had (forced a punt) was negated by the INT returned for a TD.  HS-C ran the ball well, but I couldn't tell if that was just GCs defense.

I will say that HS-C did a good job of jamming the WRs at the line, which I think messed up their rhythm.  Although a couple of times it should have been pass interference.

Congrats on the fake punt too by GC, well executed!!!!!

Overall it was a fun game with turnovers being the stat that made the difference!  I can't wait for BC-HSC this weekend!!!!!!!!!!  but I think its a very winnable game!

I hope that was informative!!

GO EAGLES!!!!!!

D3Waterboy

I noticed that BC was back to their old style of uncontrolled aggression--+100 yards of penalties against LaGrange.  Hope they get that corrected before Saturday.

plabrss - Yes, the GC/HSC report was helpful and very much appreciated.  Thanks.

If you get a few more details and see what your schedule looks like, let me know.  We'll make it work somehow.  You may be right with your score prediction, but I'm still guessing 40 or more points for each team.  lol
