I'm actually buying 4 of the new reserved seats this year for family and friends, but I always bring canned goods to the Soup Bowl.   It's a worthy cause and I also want to help the Quakers keep that trophy for another year!  Either way, the charitable organizations and the food recipients are the real winners.

I was a tall and lanky guy myself (but, sadly, also slow!), so I never played a lineman's position.  I can only listen and learn from the observations made by current or former players who filled those roles.  I still think it will be a high-scoring game and, if the Quakers can get a hundred or so yards on the ground, I think we can take the Pride and even this series at a nickel apiece.   ;)  Go Quakers!

'nova,

I completely agree with you. When you can throw it a little bit, you always feel like you've got a punchers chance at any team.  And their short passing attack is, in a since, a ball control offense.
Guilford's offense, however, hass not been the story over the last two weeks. It's been their stinky defense that needs to be addressed.
Hug - Thanks.  I also agree with your points.  Let's face it, you normally go better than 2-2 when you put up 153 points in 4 games.  As I said earlier, the HSC game was the 3rd loss in the last 14 games (11 actually) where the Quakers put up 43 points or more!  With a normal defense (plus fair special teams coverage), 43 will win for you, say, 98% of the time!  We've got to get better!

Your style of play on offense puts a lot of pressure on your defense.  There's a point of diminishing returns in throwing the ball every play.

Good point, miz.  No argument from me.

Time of posession has not been an issue for the Quakers.  I still suggest that their passing attack is a "ball control" type offense.  Turnovers have not been accessive, sans the Averett game (4 ints.).

In Guilford's 2 losses they have nearly doubled their opponants First downs. A sign that the offense is controlling the field of play.

Guilford 28 Averett 14
Guilford 30 HSC 19

You guys ought to stop by BC tonight for the pep rally/fireworks/throwdown

I think this is a sign that both AU and HSC had a) big offensive plays for long gains b) kickoff return yardage off the scale and c) fumbles/interceptions returned for scores.  Guess what?  They did!

I hope the Stone Station crew has a great time!  :)  It's Homecoming at Guilford, so it should be a good weekend in Greensboro as well.

Ok even down here in GA I'm starting to countdown the hours until the ODAC season starts and it's HSC week to boot!  A little over 24 hours!  ;D

Well, we are going to have to do without ESPN covering the game.  I sent them an e-mail to try to get the story of the game covered  ;D :D.  (The "Soup"er bowl can cause.  I was hoping at least to see the master of bs Kenny Mayne. Who frequently does crazy stories)  ;)

Too bad, but nice try.  I hope you hadn't gotten your hopes too high.  Guilford vs Greensboro in the Soup Bowl may not be on ESPN's radar screen.  Na na na, na na na.  lol

I've been away for awhile so I appoligize if this has already been said, but I don't really think the problem at Guilford right now is their defense. It is their Offense giving up turnovers that the other team scores on. When your Offense doesn't set up your defense well it is hard to stop scores from happening. The second thing that is a noticable problem is the special team play. They are giving up touchdowns and great field position right now. Until people get pride about playing special teams they will conitinue to lose.

Special teams are about 30% of the game and they are not succeeding on those right now. They better start clicking or there are going to be to many records broken for no reason.

As for a prediction on the game I think Guilford will win the game because it seems that G-boro always has huge slow guys on their team but not to fast. That will be the biggest game changer. But it will be a good game no matter what because of the rivalry.

This is BC/HSC week right?!?!  What a let down!  :P   I would have thought the Tigers would have come out in force.. at least this week!   Oh to be Fairweather!  :D

GC has lost or had many games (from 2000-2004) turn because of specials. Good punting normally but the rest......ughhh.

Go Pride!!!

So I went to the Guilford bookstore today and bought a little angry quaker.  I am not sure if there is going to be much left of it after tomorrow ;) .  If anyone is around I will be there at 11am to tailgate.  All the way in the back by the baseball field. (Nova now you know) Talk football, talk predictions. Hoping for a good game.  Either way GC will win or GC will win.
