I'm actually buying 4 of the new reserved seats this year for family and friends, but I always bring canned goods to the Soup Bowl.   It's a worthy cause and I also want to help the Quakers keep that trophy for another year!  Either way, the charitable organizations and the food recipients are the real winners.

Well, we are going to have to do without ESPN covering the game.  I sent them an e-mail to try to get the story of the game covered  ;D :D.  (The "Soup"er bowl can cause.  I was hoping at least to see the master of bs Kenny Mayne. Who frequently does crazy stories)  ;)
Too bad, but nice try.  I hope you hadn't gotten your hopes too high.  Guilford vs Greensboro in the Soup Bowl may not be on ESPN's radar screen.  Na na na, na na na.  lol

Good luck tomorrow at Homecoming Hasa!!  :) VEry soon, iit's the long bus ride down to Guilford.  Looking forward to seeing the improvements to the stadium.(though worried about Vogelbach & friends)  If you see GCol, tell him to be sure and come to the game.  I'll be the one with the Eagle on the left cheek and the box of brownies. ;D ;D    Hope also to see old friend, Brian Wenger, who went to BC and was one of my baseball players and married a girl from my hometown.  I'll be bringing a goodly amount of brownies, but for this week, I'm sending e-brownies. :) :)
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Thanks olinemom.  Today's game should be a good one.  I hope you have a great weekend, too.  Thanks for the e-brownies.  They're great!  lol  So, on October 14, will you be the only person with an eagle on your cheek?  :)

Playing this game against Hampden Sydney will be a bit different without Brian Awkard. He made some huge plays for the Eagles in this series.

The last time Guilford was on ESPN's radar screen, they were getting fake spiked on, and Chris Fowler was touting the "deceptive Generals," as W and L highlighted an amazing comeback with a great play call with 10 seconds left to go up by 1 back in 2002.

Coach Clark is being interviewed after the win over HSyd, and commented on how winning keeps BC in control, and he doesn't have to "check the papers or log into d3football late at night to see how the other guy did."

Once again, we see practical proof that D3Football.com is THE source for information about Division 3 football.
NO, Tusky, You cannot MOON Dr. Geisert!

Trenches

Don't know if y'all heard... GC beat greensboro in its second overtime period. 36-30.
- GC got picked off in its first OT appearance. Gboro got a penalty and forced them out of FG range; then gave it up on downs.
- Another missed FG by Gboro and a one play drive by GC gave the quakers their third victory.

Another sloppy game by GC. lucky to come away with it after a late 37 yd FG att by gboro hit the top of the uprights(literally skipped off the very top of it) and it was called no good as time ran out in regulation. More turnovers and mistakes.

GC's D turned in a good performance. Scored once and was forced to deal with a realitively short field after a botched snap on a punt.

... but a win is a win. Time to step in up for the BC game now.

Trenches

Found the answer to the quaker run game...

650+ and 10 TDs... in one game!
look at the distances in the tds alone!! let alone a 77 yarder called back.

More than likely, but at the least I'll be the one that smells of chocolate and raspberry  ;D and dressed in BC colors from head to toe.  Congrats on the win!!  Wow, that must have caused some stomach acid!!  Like Trenches said though a win is a win!!  See you soon!! :)  :)

Good win today by the Eagles.  Really didn't have the same feel as previous BC-HSC matchups.  Fun homecoming, but the game was anti-climactic.  After the 1st qtr. BC was pretty much in control the rest of the way.  Btw. dropped INT's or passes in the endzone the score could have easily been 7-14 points worse in our favor.

HSC really isn't that much this year.  I can see why all of their "fair weather fans" have abandoned them.  It's funny, a couple years ago this (HSC) was the growing monster that many folks felt would unseat Bridgewater on top of the ODAC.  Well.............we're still here.

Meet the new boss..........................

The same as the old boss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, it was a nail-biter.  Whew!  Congratulations also to BC - see you on the 14th!

I wonder what the attendance was at Jopson Field? That was the largest regular season crowd I have ever seen there.

A few thoughts on yesterday's BC / Hampden-Sydney Game:

1) Bozz, box score (from HSC's website) >:( has an attendance = 3420

2) The game went about as I expected. I was actually glad HSC stopped us on the first drive and scored immediately, that essentially eliminated any chance of us overlooking a Ricca-less HSC team. It also introduced "the young-ins" to how much HSC puts into every BC/HSC matchup. HSC's freshman QBs were a combined 10-27 with one interception and 107 yrds through the air. I knew if they couldn't establish a ground game they would not beat us through the air with a Freshman QB. HSC reminded me more of W&L with Owens at QB. They ran alot of smoke and mirror rushing plays but couldn't match the wish-bone ran by Ferrum. Another telling stat was that BC was 9-14 on 3rd down, while HSC was 3-10.

3) It was good to see Coach Clark bring out his, " beat the passing team" strategy for the pass happy ODAC for the first time this season. The high powered passing offense can't score while they are on the bench. ;) Time of possesion yesterday, BC- 36:15, HSC-23:45.

4) Finally it is interesting to see this year's Eagle team start to form it's identity. We are a ball control, long scoring drive offense this year. I can remember not too long ago that an 8 play BC scoring drive was a rarity. It was either a 3 or 4 play drive with a long throw or run for a quick score. I like the fact that we can now hold the ball for 8-10 plays, score, and use 5-8 minutes of the clock per drive. It suits the new clock rule to a tee. ;) Now if this team can develop a deep threat/ easy score threat by November we will be ready to compete on the national Top 10 playoff level. But remember, we have to get there first, so one game at a time. ;D

Excellent job Eagles. Enjoy the few days off and then gear up for Guilford. You can be assured the Quakes will be more than jacked to try to end "the streak" in their shiny new stadium.
