Eat Mor Chikin!

You don't have to remind me of that slogan!  I see it enough here in ATL.. the HOME of the first ChickFil-A..  :D

Ok, we're deep into the ODAC season with several BIG games tomorrow and this is it?  Come on! Where are the predictions?!?!  I know we BC fans are friends with the GC fans but come on.. let's stir it up a bit!  ;D

I think this is a HUGE week in the ODAC - the biggest one, IMO.

R-MC/E&H --- Since 2001, neither team has finished above .500 in the conference, with the Jackets being 11-21 and the Wasps 12-19 over that span.  Both teams have combined for 18 conference titles in the ODAC's 33-year history.  With both winless (in the ODAC) in 2006, this game will likely propel one forward and set the other back.  The Wasps' three losses are by an average of 6.3 points, and they just aren't turning it over (only 4 on the year).  Emory & Henry 31 - Randolph-Macon 21

H-SC/W&L --- Oh how I wish this game was played during BC's off week ... I would definitely make the trip to Lexington.  This game will feature lots of smoke and mirrors - putting WRs at running back, reverses, halfback tosses, etc.  I think the Generals have the edge with a better defense and homefield advantage.  Should be quite the bowtie affair.  Washington & Lee 24 - Hampden-Sydney 13

BC/GC --- I think this game will come down to what Bridgewater's offense does.  We don't have to score every drive, just don't turn it over and give Vogelbach & Co. good field position.  I think the main thing is for our DBs to stay disciplined - and with three of our top eight DBs being true freshmen, that could tilt the scales towards the Quakers.  Bridgewater 38 - Guilford 29

LaS/CUA --- Yes, La Salle is one of the worst D1-AA teams in the country.  And yes, Catholic has been on the up swing the last two seasons.  But even so, these two teams have split the series the last six years.  I think the Explorers will come in pretty hyped seeing they've already lost to two (better) Division III schools this year already (New Jersey and Ursinus).  La Salle 23 - Catholic 17

Kid,

I think the W&L HSC score will be closer and the BC GC not as close.  I think RMC may beat EMC, and I don't have an opinion of CUA.

Go Generals!!

Solid analysis.  I certainly hope R-M can find some offense this week, and thus be the team that's propelled forward. . . . . . but Emory is a tough place to play.

Llamaguy just called.  "Have chicken, will travel" is, well, traveling!  I also think kid's analysis is pretty solid, but I hope the Quakers can pull this one out.  Win or lose, I'll be there!  On the CUA game, I wish the ODAC had eight football playing members, so no one had a non-conference game the second half of the season.  Good luck to everyone this weekend - no injuries and good sportsmanship.  Peace

Jacketlawyer, good to hear from you.  Drop me a note and catch up.

Thanks, Hasanova, will do that.  I've been reading these boards for a few years now, but I haven't really had that much to post about during football season.  But I enjoy everyone's banter on the board, regardless.

I agree with you on questioning how the young DBs will play.. this is the biggest test they will have faced this year and to be honest with you it kind of scares me.  However, if the DBs play up to their ability and worry more about knocking down passes rather than going for the "Big Play" I think we'll be ok.   If we can't shut down GC's passing game we don't deserve to be ODAC champs this year.  W&L will walk all over us if the D doesn't step up over the next few weeks.

Ok! Last post until the games start!

Good luck to everyone.. stay healthy/safe and I hope to see some great game recaps here on Saturday night!  GO EAGLES!  Good luck to CUA as the only team playing someone outside of the ODAC.. represent well!  8)

Jopson Upgrades

Thanks to a sizable donation. Bridgewater College plans to expand Jopson field.
The first priority for BC athletic director Curt Kendall is to improve the dilapidated press box at the stadium. Because of its small size, coaches from both teams are forced to call plays from on top of the press box, which can make things interesting if inclement weather hits.
"Obviously, we need to enhance the press box," Kendall said Monday. "We have to get the coaches out from the weather.  And we don't want to get the media all crunched up in there."
Another plan in the works is to enhance the seating at Jopson.  Kendall said the school is looking into adding chair-back seats - the stadium has only bench seating now - which would be available to fans for an additional donation.
"It would be the kind of seats you could get for the entire season," Kendall added. "Probably be around $200-300."
Kendall would not disclose the amount of the donation,  but did say plans could get under way by next season.
One thing he wouldn't mind is a press box like the one at Mount Union (Ohio), which is considered to be one of the finest in Division III.
"That was the cream of the crop," Kendall said.
He mentioned to me that there would be bathrooms as well!!!!!!!!!!

interesting article in the DNR today about the BC O-Line. sounds like Rock had quite an influence on the group, probably through nik reese as well... i did notice that the o-line likes the fact that they don't get yelled at this year........ that's just weird in my opinion  8)
You know every time there's an article written about the O-Line, they tend to play like crap that Saturday.  I wish that article had been left on the cutting room floor.  Or have you forgotten other such articles?

But if there's nobody yelling you miss out on classic quotes such as "I'm taking my ball and going home!"   Which happened after the D-line screws around one too many times during practice.. too freaking funny.

I just wonder if the new guy has a laser pointer while looking at practice film.  I still have nightmares of 2 hour practice film reviews..point laser, rewind, point laser, rewind.. ask player what the hell they are doing, rewind, turn around and ask if the player is awake, rewind..grumble.. move on to the next play..  :D ;D    I miss that guy!  :)

Speaking of yelling, here is a test question for the newlywed "Kid."  If a woman yells, but the husband doesn't hear her, is he still wrong?  I have been married for 25 years so I know the correct answer.

The answer is yes:
-The first reason is you should have KNOWN she was going to yell, so you're still wrong.
-2nd  You may not have heard her yell but she assumes you did and ignored her.. so your wrong.
-3rd You more than likely did something to prompt her to yell.. even if it was something as simple as not leaving enough TP on the roll.. in that case you should have known it wasn't enough for her.
-4th We're guys..we're ALWAYS wrong!  ;)
If I hadn't already given you karma today, I would have given it to you for this.  It's priceless and correct as well. ;D ;D ;D

Well, they would say we're right about one thing; wanting to marry them.
Yeah, but that would fall under the "Blind Squirrel" rule...

Thanks, Footballfan413.  Am thinking real positive thoughts for a great game tomorrow.  Hasanova, Trenches, GCol and Llamaguy, have got the last pans of brownies in for tomorrow:  I have 2 pans of the Decadent 5X Chocolate brownies, 2 pans of the Chocolate Raspberry Chambord brownies, and 2 pans of the Amaretto Chocolate brownies, one with  M&Ms and one with Hershey Multi-Colored kisses.  That should translate to about 210 brownies.  Now I just have to wake up and make it to the bus on time (6:45 am) and not sleep til 1:45 pm like the other week.  My best friend Ann is supposed to call me at 5:30 am and I hope she doesn't forget!!!  See you all tomorrow.  I'll be riding in with the Alumni bus, an Eagle on my left cheek.  Go Eagles ;D ;D
