Good luck to Bridgewater tomorrow. It sounds like you are ready to OD on chicken, brownies (Yay, Olinemom), and communion wine.

Keep up the undefeated season!
Two words:  THE STREAK

Trenches

BC fans...
I will try to get over to tha field by 12-12:30. I'd like to meet y'all. Plus I have to get my hands on some of the world famous brownies.  ;) Where will you be set up? Next to the baseball field im assuming? I only know what 2 or so of you look like, so it'll be a guessing game... but I'll keep my eye out.  :)

trenches - I met some of the BC folks last night.  Llamaguy is setting up his BBQ trailer and tents in the parking area between the baseball field and Hege-Cox.   Shouldn't be too hard to find.  :)

olinemom - How can you ride all that way on the bus without breaking out the brownies?  It's sort of like going to pick up a take-out pizza and then resisting eating it until you get home.  lol

FYI - Here's a short interview with Quaker QB Josh Vogelbach sent by the Guilford athletic department:

Five Minutes with... Quarterback Josh Vogelbach

Josh Vogelbach couldn't convince his Pop Warner coach to play him at quarterback so he played tight end. One wonders what that coach thinks today as Vogelbach enters the Quakers showdown with Bridgewater College as the nation's number one passer leading the nation's number one passing offense.

"I only played one year of Pop Warner football before high school," Vogelbach said. "And I played tight end. It wasn't until my freshman year in high school that I played quarterback."

Vogelbach dreamed of playing college football for Steve Spurrier. When that did not materialize, he did the next best thing. He went to East Carolina where Spurrier's former offensive coordinator was coaching. However, after a year the coaching staff changed and Vogelbach, with interest from schools such as Western Kentucky and Eastern Illinois, instead chose to continue playing at Division III Guilford College. Vogelbach's father was an athletic trainer at West Virginia when current Guilford Offensive Coordinator Pat Randolph was a player there.

"Coach Randolph said if I came to Guilford I could play for four years and throw the ball 40 or 50 times a game," said Vogelbach, who set the Division III freshman record for most attempts, completions, passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offense last year. "There are a lot of guys out there who are hung up on the level they are playing. I just wanted to play."

Vogelbach recalls standing on the sideline for East Carolina's game against North Carolina State in front of 70,000 fans. Last week against rival Greensboro College, the Quakers drew an estimated 2,800 fans. "But I'm getting to play now," Vogelbach says. "And that's what matters. I have no regrets at all. This is what I wanted to do."

What he has done is rewrite the Guilford College record book for quarterbacks. The West Virginia native feels like he is in the perfect situation. "I feel like we have the best receivers in the nation," said Vogelbach. "My line has done a great job of giving me time to throw. When we are on top of our game, no one can stop us."

According to Randolph, one of the reasons for the team's offensive success comes from the intelligence Vogelbach brings to the quarterback position. "Josh is very smart and he knows the game inside and out," Randolph said. "He has the ability to get himself out of a bad play call and call a better play. He communicates well with his line, receivers and running backs so that everyone is on the same page and working together."

For a guy who grew up idolizing Brett Favre and Joe Montana, Vogelbach has began his own legend at Guilford College. After squandering several chances to put away Greensboro College on Homecoming, Vogelbach asked his line to give him "some time to throw one more time." So on his 66th pass attempt of the game, he hooked up with receiver Chris Barnette for a 25 yard touchdown pass to secure the 36-30 double overtime victory over their cross town rivals.

"This offense is made for a quarterback to be successful," Vogelbach said. "If you're a quarterback, this is the best situation to be in."

Just don't tell his Pop Warner coach.

Congrats to GC!  You all played well and deserve the win! The ODAC is WIDE open now..  :o

Congrats to Guilford. I will amend my statement to say BC must win its next 4 games to go to the playoffs.

BCeagle79

If we win the rest why wouldn't we still be ODAC champs?

Pat Coleman

Because Guilford could win out as well and be tied with you at one loss, win the tiebreaker head-to-head. You may still be considered "ODAC champs" -- not sure if the ODAC does it that way -- but you would not have the automatic bid.

Does it seem that we underestimated GC? I heard it said that GC had 10 days to prepare for us, so what did we do to prepare for them?

Hang in there EAGLES!! Let's come back harder the next 4 weeks. Ya'll can do it!

Congrates to GC though.

As long as there are bunch of other teams that put up L's against each other.. it's still wide open but W&L is scary right now and CUA can put a great team on the field.. so we'll see.  If it ends in a tie with two ODAC teams having just 1 loss in the ODAC the team with the longest playoff drought goes to the playoffs.. the ODAC title is all determined by head to head matchups.  BC DOES need to run the table.. but the ODAC title is still up in the air after this week.. after the next two weeks with GC/W&L and BC/W&L playing each other it will be more clear who will win it.

Pat Coleman

No, that's incorrect. If it ends up in a THREE-way tie with the teams having one loss, all to each other, THEN that rule comes into effect. Any two way tie in football is handled first by head-to-head.

Pat, in 2000 we lost to Emory& Henry, they won the head to head matchup while losing to another ODAC team.. they won the ODAC title we the team to be considered for the playoffs.   If there is a tie the team with the longest drought in the playoffs gets the auto-bid.

Thanks Pat! You got me!  Maybe I'm still in shock!  ;)  Congrats again to GC.. this year will be VERY interesting!  As a BC fan I'm down but as an ODAC fan I have to say I'm kind of happy to have things mixed up a bit!  8)
