Pat, in 2000 we lost to Emory& Henry, they won the head to head matchup while losing to another ODAC team.. they won the ODAC title we the team to be considered for the playoffs.   If there is a tie the team with the longest drought in the playoffs gets the auto-bid.

No. You're still wrong. You have the situation right in 2000 but you are misinterpreting it.

Bridgewater 5-1
Emory and Henry 5-1

Emory and Henry beat Bridgewater, got automatic playoff bid. Doesn't matter that E&H lost to Catholic that year.

This is potentially the same thing.

Thanks, Jeremy, as it said there:
"The ODAC AQ is decided by conference record. If two teams tie for the top spot with 5-1 conference records, the winner of the head-to-head matchup is the champion and gets the AQ."

I see you went back and edited a post to correct yourself before my last correction, so at least we're all square now.

Trenches

As you have read:
Guilford - 33
Bridgewater - 28

Great game!! Congrats to the fellas. Enjoy it, but don't lose sight of what's ahead. The D stepped it up big time and the run game was what won it. As predicted, turnovers played a factor.
Should be great to see how it unfolds from here. Another big week for GC next week in Lexington.

Special thanks to the BC crew. I had a chance to meet some of y'all and the hospitality was greatly appreciated. Olinemom... loved the brownies  ;) Good luck to BC here on out.

Yippee!

Thanks to all the BC fans for the camaraderie, great food and equally great sportsmanship.  It was a pleasure to meet all of you.  Have a safe trip home and good luck the rest of the season.  The ODAC is certainly wide-open from here on out.

Llama.....ummm...what happened? That one came out of nowhere!! I feel sorry for your opponent next week!

I must admit that Hasa is basking in crimson with those Eagle feathers all over the place

That was a streak that got broken I'd hate to see again.

Great job to the last of the seniors I saw play 3 years ago as Frosh.

I take it Skoal is fully pickeled as I type. Did the GC-Q cops ask you why there were 200 beer cans around your van? "it was LLama's officer" ;)

Wow...About time Bridgewater lost a conference game, and who would have ever thought GC would be the team to end the streak. When the streak started, they were a laughing stock. Congrats to the Quaker program for all of the hard work.

The press release makes it sound like a hell of a game. I wonder if it was a shock to the Eagles to see Micah Rushing at tailback? Certainly seemed like it. Guilford's coaching staff certainly picked a perfect time to whip out there balanced offense!

So this makes for a very interesting run towards the end of the season in the ODAC. As things stand right now, I see things like this.
1A W&L
1B Guilford
1C BC
4 HSC
5 EH
6 Catholic
7 RMC

I only see the three teams at the top with a chance to win the conference, and none of them should finish worse than 3rd. Macon is definitely a step behind everyone else this year, while Catholic, HSC, and EHC fill out the middle. W&L is the favorite in my opinion with no losses, but they still have to face Guilford and BC. However, trouncing Catholic and HSC 28-0 and 28-6 in consecutive weeks makes them look damn good, especially since HSC beat Guilford. Each game featuring those 3 teams are now incredibly important matchups.

Concur. There could be a mess with 2 or 3 teams knotted up at the end. I still have a feeling that BC may go in with one loss. Like to be a fly on the BC wall at practice this week. They could be damn ornery next Saturday

Damn those Bow ties are good. Wine and cheese crowd like UVA ;)

Hey Llama,

I like the changes to your bottom banner.  Say something so we can see Mighty CNU in blue again.

Regarding today's Catholic game, the score shouldn't have been as unbalanced as it was, but Catholic gave it away. Credit is due to La Salle for making some key big plays on offense, but they had trouble with Catholic's pressure all day.

Catholic's D played a good game today. They sacked La Salle's QB 5 times today, with pressure coming from the D-line, backers, and secondary. They didn't let the Explorers run wild, but they did have trouble with one very good receiver from La Salle. At the same time it was frustrating, because they just couldn't cause turnovers. This has been something Catholic has struggled with in the past few years. They will play great defense, but won't give themselves opportunities to score with big defensive plays.
Offensively Catholic looked like crap. The offense appears completely basic to me, and it doesn't threaten the opposing D at all. The play calling appears limited, and it doesn't seem to play into Keith Ricca's strengths. He looks completely uncomfortable out there. While all 3 Ricca brothers were coached in high school by their father, Kevin and JD had Marty Favret as their OC in college. Keith is working with a new system for this family, and it shows. Although John Ricca is on staff at Catholic, its not his system. Catholic's biggest play today was actually a jailbreak screen to the WR, which is a big part of the Favret/Ricca offense.
Overall, Catholic couldn't force turnovers, and committed 4. 1 was an understandable INT, but the others were an INT on a shovel pass, and two fumbles from the WR's in the 4th quarter. Its impressive that Catholic didn't lose by more with a -4 turnover ratio, and very little offensive production.

I know the ODAC had a decent out of conference record this year, but how does a 2-4 F&M beat a 5-1 W&L to start the year?

Llamaguy

Just rolled in from a great weekend of football in North Carolina. All except for the score of the game. LOL!
I said it would be the game of the year in the ODAC, now I guess I'll have to amend that to 1 of 3 potential games of the year. Number two will be next week in Lexington and if the Gennies win then number 3 will be at BC the following week, that is assuming BC can take care of E&H next week. BC will need to improve their offensive execution based on today's performance. And yes turnovers did play a factor as mentioned. BC fumbled twice on a QB to RB exchange on 1st down no less. That being said Guilford took advantage and executed their game plan to a tee. Congratulations Quakers!
I would like to thank Hasanova for the parking space Friday night and the socialization at Hooters. I can honestly say that Guilford College ranks in the Top 3 schools in D3 from a hospitality standpoint. We were given prime real estate to set up Stone Station and they even came by and hauled the trash for us, twice! Please thank the athletic dept. for me Hasanova. ;)
It was also nice putting faces with GCOL & Trenches. Congrats on the win.
Oh by the way Hasanova, your Basketball team doesn't stand a chance at BC if I can fire up some Stone Station chicken prior to the game. They would never make the tip-off! :D

85,
I'll keep it up there if it'll get you in those home blues. Congrats on the Maryville win today.
