Whoa Nelly!!  There is still a whole lotta football left to play!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Absolutely right!  Trust me, no one from Guilford is overlooking the other four games on their schedule - and especially this week in Lexington.  With a 3-0 ODAC record and GC at home on the 21st, W&L is in the best position right now.  I'm still trying to decide if I am going to make the trip - right now, I'm seriously thinking about it.

That's what I like about the BC fans...very gracious. Die hard fans, but when the very seldom loss comes around, ya'll don't go into denial or blame Zeus or Thor.

Head on over to the USASAC board and listen to the Greensboro fans....first CNU blanks them 28-0 in N'orester and they say, CNU is not good enough to be ranked #21. Then they go to hapless Shenandoah and get it handed to them 36-10 and they say SU will not win another game this year......I don't think they realize that what they are really saying is that their team really SUCKS. "SU is so bad they'll never win another game....they had to beat us 36-10 to get the W".

anyway - I spewed.......good luck to BC the rest of the way.....get out your tie breaking rules for the end of the year.....the ODAC is going to be fun to watch!
Actually, the Pride had Shenandoah at home last night.  Ouch.  I think they've got to do some serious soul-searching this week and decide what sort of football team they're going to be the rest of the season.  I was talking to my neighbor today, who is a Greensboro alumnus  involved in Pride athletics, and the natives are definitely restless.

Hasanova,

Thanks for the complements.  Before I offer my analysis from the perspective of a Bridgewater fan, I will first complement Guilford on a well executed game plan.  Bridgewater was unable to capitalize on the few mistakes that GC made because GC stopped them.  The Quakers impressed me with their rushing attack and their ability to make BC pay for its mistakes.  I thought that Vogelbach took care of the football very well.  Of the two interceptions, one was a great play by Borst and the other was a fourth down play that Josh just threw up in the air to prevent a sack.  Guilford played very well today and deserved to win.  Nothing that I am about to say about Bridgewater should take anything away from the fact that Guilford earned its victory yesterday.

About Bridgewater's performance, several things concerned me.  As a whole, it did not look like Bridgewater was well prepared.  The offence burned two timeouts because the players did not know what was going on.  Several times a player had to run out to his special teams assignment at the last minute.  Defensively, there were several times when Guilford was on the ball and Bridgewater was waiting for the play to come in from the sidelines.  And while we are on the subject of defense, I have been following BC football for three years and have yet to see the three man front be successful on second or third and long.  It does not put enough pressure on the quarterback and creates too many scrambling lanes.  Offensively, BC did not make very effective adjustments at the half.  They ran variations of the option seven or eight times.  The only time that Guilford stopped it was when Bridgewater fumbled the handoff, but yet the coaching staff did not force Guilford to stop us from running the option.  In order to be successful Bridgewater needs to play better fundamental football.  Yesterday was evidence of that.  The team that executed the fundamentals won the game.  Again, congratulations to Guilford College and good luck at Washington and Lee.
religionmajor - Nice to meet you this weekend as well.  Trust me, all compliments given for the BC fans and the success of their program were sincere and quite deserved.  Thirty-six in a row!  Wow!  I honestly believe the quality of the BC program is largely due to the tremendous support by their fans - great football and great fans complement each other in so many ways!   Yesterday, however, I do think the Quakers played extremely well.  They had a plan and executed well.  In my opinion, this game will go down as a milestone for Quaker football.  I see good things ahead.  Peace

Take this to the USASAC board.  Greensboro out gained SU in terms of yards.  GC held CNU to 144 yards.  To be -10 in the TO's the last two games there is no way they can win.  They are 2-4 because of it.

kid - It was great to meet you and thanks for your kind words as well.  As you said, sometimes teams can get complacent and a loss is what's needed to refocus the hunger that drove them to excel in the first place.  As another poster said, I would like to see how Coach Clark regroups his staff and players this week.  I know it's a cliche, but take them one at a time.  I also hope Guilford isn't so high they fail to properly prepare for the Generals this week.  This weekend in Lexington should be a good one!

the word is that bridgewater wasn't mentally ready to play, and it showed. and that bridgewater deserved to lose that game; guilford deserved to win

lack of mental/emotional readiness causes the eagles to HAVE to win out, and cause one team not to win out, and hope another doesn't. that should cure their lack of focus.

get it fixed seniors. that's your job
"99% ain't good enough"

Not surprisingly, that topic came up when I was talking to my friend today ...

1. Take this to the USASAC board.
2. Greensboro out gained SU in terms of yards.
3 GC held CNU to 144 yards.  To be -10 in the TO's the last two games there is no way they can win.
4.  They are 2-4 because of it.

1. No. I was making an analogy to the BC fans (Llama, Kid, etc) because I've met a few of them personally and they are a class act. You take it to the USASAC board. Nobody made you respond here....and I left out names cuz I wasn't making this personal
2. and lost 36-10
3. and were shut out 28-0 - this isn't fantasy football where yards gained or yards holding an opponent count.......64-10 in 2 games is what counts.
4. there are moer reasons than the T.O. ratio as to why they're 2-4. I've been posting for years that the main reason is the head coach.

CNU85

Hasa...I'll move that topic to the USASAC board so as to not bore to tears the ODAC fans.

Let me just say congrats to BC on their streak in ODAC play. As an ex 4 yr player at CNU I know how hard it is to go undefeated in conf play no matter how good your team is. But you guys did it for 30 plus thats impressive.

Sorry to say but this season will add a few more years on Coach Clark. I saw coach K in 01-04 age a few extra years because of us dropping that dreadful 1 game. ;D ;D :D  The Eagles don't control their own destiny for the first time in a long time, it will be interesting to see how the ODAC defending champs respond.

Algernon, in your scenario E&H is also a probable 4-2 team, unless you have them losing to Catholic.  Now how would that play out?

Pat .... Thanks for your clarification.  So, given the theoretical end-of-season 4-way tie I was imagining as a possibility, the elimination of W&L and HSC in the 4-way head-to-head tie-breaker would leave only Guilford and BC ... and Guilford's win over BC would give the Quakers the AQ.

EHCPride .... good point, that given such a set of wins and losses, E&H would also have a 4-2 record if they defeated Catholic.  With such an improbable scenario of wins and losses, we'd have 5 teams tied in first place.  How weird would that be?  If such were the case, the head-to-head tie-breaker would have all 5 teams at 2-2 against the other 4 teams, so we'd move on to the point system tie-breaker, in which all 5 teams would have the same number of points.  So, if I understand these things correctly, such an improbable 5-way tie for first place in the ODAC would be broken and the AQ would be determined by the coin toss that was done before the season began.

religionmajor -   Wow!  I honestly believe the quality of the BC program is largely due to the tremendous support by their fans - great football and great fans complement each other in so many ways!

What! No props to the folks at admissions? :o :o :o :o

WLU78, I saw firsthand how devoted the BC fans are.  Perhaps the BC admissions personnel can give all the other ODAC schools some lessons on how to matriculate talented student/athletes.  :)  Their students, whether an athlete or not, obviously go on to become extremely loyal and, from what I saw, gracious alumni.  Should be a good game in Lexington this weekend.  Hope to meet you if I decide to make the trip.  Peace
