Amazing that BC had an "average starting field position at the 22-yard line." This is huge if you had been at previous games and seen blown special teams coverages letting up huge returns and giving the other teams outstanding starting field position.

The 22-yard line has to be for just the punts, because Winston Young had a pretty good game returning kickoffs ... he had five for 160+ yards.

... and flew through the air for how many yards?  The guy is awesome but now he thinks he's Superman!  ;) :D  kidding of course.. he had a great KR game.

Trenches and wrighthall220 - I couldn't agree with you more.  Guilford won the Special Teams phase of this game and Frazier had a big hand - or should I say foot - in making it happen.   :)  I do know we gave up some decent return yardage to Young, but no score.  Counting the opening kickoff, we kicked off seven times and punted three times for a total of ten kicks.  Even though Young got over 160 yards in returns, I could see a big improvement over other games such as Averett, which was a disaster in that regard.

I think I have said this before but between 2000-2003 GC-Q lost about 9 games because of special teams. Finally some emphasis

Not to mention they did not have a college calibre QB for almost 4 years. When you get nothing but  the 1A high school QB's it hurts but that is another subject

it wasn't aimed at you, but it was the proverbial last straw for me. i get tired of everyone expecting everything to be a well-oiled machine w/o hitches. i've heard it every year since 2001. "this team isn't as good" and then everyone's opinion on what aspects of the game aren't up to par. pardon my frankness but no s***. that was one of the best offensive teams talent wise that you'll see in D3. sorry. i just get tired of hearing it every single year that we have a bad game. i know y'all are great fans; i've lived it. my point is we can't expect absolute perfection every time out.

Not to mention the need for perspective.

Last conference loss, Sept. 23 2000.  Some people start sounding like some other "Eagles" fans I know after a loss...the Philadelphia Eagles.  Live and die with every game.  Perspective is a good thing.  Once every six years is nice.  I would not be surprised if the Eagles lose this week or next, or both.  You build up so many wins that it can feel like that one loss was exacerbated by years of no losses.

It's just one game in what has become a storied history for a program that was anything but since that last conference loss.

So what would you like us fans to do?  When we have a bad game and/or lose one, we should act like all is well?  I sure hope our coaches and players don't do that.  Not sure why you're all frustrated at us BC fans being realists.  We lost - we committed 10 penalties - we turned it over four times - we didn't execute well.  What's wrong with admitting that?

Your boy Roethlisberger said it best after a loss this season when he said something like "we know we played bad - we don't need the media or the fans to tell us, we know we were bad."  I'm sure our coaches and players are thinking/saying the same thing.  So why is it a big deal that us fans agree?

I for one think you may see a whole different team on Saturday and the rest of the year. The advantage that the 2001 team had in the playoffs was Coach Colbert's ability to keep the opposing defenses offbalance. I distintly remember they had no clue what play was coming. I see us opening up the offence and actually throwing on firstdown alittle more. Yes we have a great ground game but the element of suprise is key. We have nothing to lose and I think a ton to gain! ;)

lol ... I feel like there are two different conversations going on here.

I think the fact that BC fans are congratulating the Quakers on what they did, and then looking forward to the next game and not writing off the season, is showing we have pretty good perspective.

I'm seriously lost at whom exactly (or at what) Outsider14 and patcummings is talking to.

Wow, Llama.  Stop crying like the season is over.  Don't throw in the towel just because we are 36-1 over the last 37 games.  Shesh. ;)

LOL! Thats funny! You kidder you. You know I'm not throwing in anything and I used that statemant as bait. It took someone less than 4 minutes to take it hook, line, and sinker! :D :D :D Part of my new reverse pschycology class you know. ;)

Don't sweat the transfer think Hasa. He// he has incinuated that BC recruits the "State Pen" and contends that if they can sign the admission form, thier in! ;) All false statements of course, but there has to be some reason other than being a great student athlete that Guilford is now winning games. NOT!

Who is he?  Moi?  That's a little French for my BC buddies! :D :D :D

I have never in all my posts insinuated anything, I don't need to, I can be explicit.

My general thesis the entire time on this board has been this:

There is not a level playing field for admissions criteria in the ODAC.  And I wonder out loud if that they may affect the size of the recruiting pool for different colleges in the ODAC and that in tern can effect the outcome of seasons.

He// he has incinuated that BC recruits the "State Pen" and contends that if they can sign the admission form, thier in! ;) (Hasa, why doesn't he get any red marks on his posts?)

I do not believe BC recruits thugs, at least I have not seen any reports in the media related to criminal activity on the part of the football players.  Did I miss something?

I have not posted anything negative about any BC player, fan, or coach nor any other team for that matter.  In fact I have been upbeat and fun on the board. ;D ;D ;D  And when I get that Karma Kontrol thingy I will be even more FUN! ;) ;)

...but there has to be some reason other than being a great student athlete that Guilford is now winning games.

As far as Hasanova, I don't think a little good natured chiding about transfers is so awful.  I think that is as close to trash talking as I have seen on this board.(especially in light of GC's very sudden success)

Past records
1999: (4-6, 2-4 ODAC)
2000: (1-9, 1-5 ODAC)
2001: (4-6, 3-3 ODAC)
2002: (3-7, 0-6 ODAC)
2003: (2-8, 1-5 ODAC)
2004: (1-9, 1-5 ODAC)
2005: (5-5, 4-2 ODAC)
2006: (4-2, 1-1 ODAC)

If this were DII or DI there would be eyebrows raised.  You can make of it what you like, but statistically speaking it is an anomoly.  And the most obvious recent change is a new staff with an influx of transfers.  I am not casting aspersions simply pointing out the obvious.  Am I not allowed to mention the 800 lb gorilla in the room? :-* :-*

Hey does this post mean my Karma will dip?  When my Karma goes negative does that mean you really don't like me?  Or will I not find the parking place at the Kroger next to the door? ::) ::) ::)
