I think I have said this before but between 2000-2003 GC-Q lost about 9 games because of special teams. Finally some emphasis

Not to mention they did not have a college calibre QB for almost 4 years. When you get nothing but  the 1A high school QB's it hurts but that is another subject
Yeah, it was tough to watch.  I bet I was at half those games crying.  After Calvin Hunter in the early 1990's and Danny Strelkauskas from 1994-97, it has been a bit thin at QB.  The play calling and execution was just not there and, as you said, a lot of those guys were 1A  HS QB's so the ODAC was a big step up.  Vogelbach is already polished and, in my opinion, is only getting better.  If he's there in two years as a redshirt Senior, I think his maturity level and decision-making skill will really be something to see.

umm. what? ???
Perhaps he's trying to say something akin to "we won the battle, but not the war."  If that is the case, then I agree, Guilford "beat Bridgewater, but has not yet won the ODAC title."

It was the timing of the transfer statement that I had an issue with. It hasn't been an issue for two years now until 5 days prior to Guilford heading to Lexington. It would be like me saying, "Great game last week Quakers, glad you could beat us with all your transfers". That comment was never even on any BC fan's radar. The fact is all the ODAC teams play by the same NCAA mandated transfer rules and minimum grade standards. I contend that the "tougher" admissions standards may make W&L even better than they would be, even if they lowered them. Some of the toughest teams to beat are the smart ones and thats why W&L is good year in and year out. I doubt that you could have a much better group of skill players than you have now regardless of the standard. Put the shoe on the other foot and say BC raises it's standards to that of W&L. Who's to say that BC's coaches couldn't still out recruit W&L for those same kids. Fact is students choose schools for very different reasons and I personally think that is a good thing. BC like any other institution with football is offering students the opportunity for an education and allowing them to play a little football to boot. If BC football players were playing one year and flunking out I would question the admission standards but I don't routinely see that happening. I just get a little fired up when people can't say the better student/athletes won the game.

ps. I hope you know I am only kidding with you about the Kroger thing. :D And believe me I don't need my posts red marked. It's called knowing your limitations. I knew better than to become a writer and picked a profession that I could communicate verbally. Thank goodness for me. :o

I don't think too many BC fans are jumping off the bandwagon just yet.  But, when they lose, I do think we should be able to question why.  Maybe we do expect too much.  I for one, expect them to win the rest of thier games this season.  I expect them to make the playoffs.  I expect them to have to go back to the great state of Delaware, and I expect to make the trip again.  And this time I expect them to win.  But if they do lose I still expect to get out of bed the next day.  So ya, maybe I do expect too much.

WLU78 - Yeah, Llamaguy and I are working on his writing.  :)  Besides, I "never bite the hand that feeds me."  If you're ever around when Stone Station rolls in, I recommend ... everything!

The football records you cite are all true.  What more evidence do you need that something had to change?  We're only nine and seven since the coaching changes and a new QB, so that's not earth-shattering.  Truthfully, most of the players who have really made an impact have been at Guilford their whole career.  You can't catch it if no one throws it to you and you can't kick a FG if your team rarely moves the ball over the 50-yard line!  lol

By the way, I may post W&L's recent basketball records a little later.  :)  Peace my friend.

AH......... good points LLama. You are much sharper than you let on except the pic with the cheerleader is a giveaway.  Nothing like Skoal laying prostrate across a keg looking for that Jack bottle.

Ah.........recruiting my cheese and wine friend (WLU87). You guys remind me of UVA except for the bowties.  ;) That argument has been beaten. Its a dead horse but all the ODAC schools are tougher than most others.

Anyway the Gen'rls will get spanked this week. I had an vision.

Does not matter that it was demerol induced because of being gut shot, In my dream I saw LLama and Skoal laying.....sorry wrong dream.

Anyway I'll call it 37-35 Quakes. I think the AA candidate gets eviserated in 1 st QTR. I think VOGEY throws for 300+

Hasa will NOT throw the computer out the window because if he has not eaten a 12 GA after the last 4 years nothing will make him snap.

Lets talk trash like we caught it from 2000-2004.
Never shall I leave a fallen comrade

Actually, all us plebian non-W&L alumni have offices in the basement, so the picture you offer defies the laws of gravity.  Come on, admit it, aren't you just the least bit worried the Quakers could spoil your little homecoming soiree?  If - or dare I say when? - that happens, be prepared for some payback after a statement like that.  We'll see.  :)

Good point, abnrgr.  I'm battle tested.  lol   Look, Guilford was 3-36 with a 32-game losing streak the four years I was a student (and I was not on the football team, I might add!), so nothing can phase me.   The Quakers would have won seven, but W&L was always "unavailable" for our homecoming game - something about a scheduling conflict with the annual cotillion.

There once was a General grad
Who had all the things Daddy had
He said, "Lafite '89
Is a really nice wine
For a postgame repast when I'm sad!"

At the game he will yell "root-rootie"
Blowing blue-blooded horns "toot-tootie"
When his team cannot score
He'll say, "Wine I adore -
Like frat boys, it's really cute fruity!"

Are you ready for some football? :)

If that is true I really feel sorry for you, although it does explain everything.

Is this what your life looks like down in the basement?

Actually most cotillions are held around the Christmas break long after the ODAC teams have been eliminated from the play-offs.

Interesting.  In that case, W&L could have historically held them by Columbus Day.
