I saw the GC-W&L game as well---objectively.  I was pulling for the Quakes, but have to admit the quality of football in the ODAC in 2006 is fantastic, even if my team isn't a part of it.

This has been one of the best years of ODAC football I can remember in a long time.  I honestly hope our best team goes to the post-season, and cleans up. 8)

[I've actually never met Tim Bates, so I don't know his association with Guilford.  Maybe Trenches, GCOL or Quake75 can tell us.  All I know is he does a great job!

I believe it is Mike Bates's father if I am not mistaken. Could be uncle but I want to say father.

OK, thanks.  Mike Bates #56 is a sophomore DE from Reidsville.  Reidsville is a 30-mile drive, so it's easy to get to the home games.   Looks like Tim is making all the games, so I hope he keeps posting the photographs!

Yeah that is Mike Bate's father. He does a great job doing those pictures, Im glad that he does that since I do live so far away now.

Quote2) I earnestly would like to say that for the most part, the BC posters have responded very graciously to the Eagles recent struggles.  For all us non-BC posters, it's always felt like an "us-against-them" situation, but I find it difficult to gloat when I realize that BC people, at the end of the day, are ODAC football fans, same as me.

You got that right Tim,  we honestly only have a handful of seasons worth bragging about.. the rest of the BC Football history is pretty pathetic.   :D    I guess the whole "A college of character" does reflect on it's alumni and students.. we don't like losing but we're not about to make excuses for our mistakes and we're not about to take anything from the opposing team!   As a BC/ODAC fan I'm excited to see how this whole thing plays out and it never hurts to knock off the king of the hill to test their will and ability to climb back to the top every once in a while.

I am a little late, but congratulations to the Wasps on a terrific win. Coach Montgomery has finally established his system with the team, and they are winning the way EHC traditionally has won, by running the football, controlling the clock, and playing tough defense. When the present talent matures and he gets more into the pipeline, watch out!

I find it interesting that EHC Pride came on here to gloat, isn't he the same guy who was bashing Coach Montgomery for not throwing the ball enough?  ::)

remember kids, throw for show, run for dough!

Congrats to Bridgewater as well. The difference in the quality of kids you put on the field is 100 times better than in my day. Better football players, and better people! Best of luck to you guys against W&L.

My my my, how quickly we forget the BCAC post of just this past summer. ::) ::) ::)

Nobody forgot the BCAC.. that's been around since I believe late 2000 or early in the 2001 season.. it was a freaking joke and maybe it was too inside for you.  I know you were not around back then but the CUA and E&H fans were pretty vicious.. so we at BC had fun..in particular CJ Smart a guy that played for the BC D and was often very vocal and funny.  (I shared a mailbox with him my freshman year.. he's a great guy)   If you can't get over a joke.. I don't know what to tell you.   Insert many, many eye rolls!  :D   Now, before you decide to throw stones, remember that playful jokes have been made around here for years and some may not have much context anymore but to some of us they are still funny.

However, there are many, many problems on every campus in the ODAC. If we decide to accept that it's up to each individual.. there are plenty of skeletons in the closets of W&L AND BC.. if you want to bring those up again that's fine.  I'd rather stick football since that is what this message board is for.  Having been a recent student athlete in several sports I've seen and heard many things that may not have been around in 1978 and I for one am not afraid to talk about that.   Being honest is part of a persons character and I think it's important to discuss issues.. even if they are not generally accepted behaviors.

Eh-You

Would this be a bad time for an outsider to ask what the BCAC is? And the CJ Smart reference - is that the Smart who stole books from the bookstore?
To all newbies - don't run your mouth until the team you're pulling for wins the big game. (please refer to Eh-You's karma for more details)

I don't think I have congratulated E & H on their victory over our BC Eagles this past weekend.  You guys took it to us and beat us straight up.  Coach Montgomery's strategy to not snap the ball until the last seconds on the 25 second clock was annoying but effective.

Last week, this board was unofficially renamed the GCAC board in honor of 'Nova's boys breaking our 36 game ODAC (fka BCAC) win streak.  So this week, this board will be the EHAC board.

OK, Eagles, it's up to you.  Are you going to allow this to be the WLAC board next week??  WLU78 will be unbearable if his Generals beat our Eagles.  Don't let it happen.

i would like to say that GC should be undefeated other than the WL game. They should have been conference champions if the coaches knew how to call plays

The Emory folks were indeed a little rough in the past...but 5 straight years of sucking hind teat will leave you a little bit humbled...we'll quickly regain the form of the days of old...give Monty another year with his strength and conditioning system in place...and his hard-hitting, no-nonsense recruiting approach...and we'll be doing just fine....
I can speak for the majority of the alumni...we're more than pleased to have the coaches we have...and believe me when I say this...it hurts a lot worse losing when you're not used to it...and not to say we wont still take some lumps...still a long way to go this season...but at least we've been in every game...and we've kept fighting until the end...
So good luck to the rest of the ODACers...except when we play you...and you'll see more old names popping up from time to time from this end of the Commonwealth.

I agree with the general line of this topic -- those E&H fans can be brutal.  A few basketball games in the King Center have taught me that.

This is totally off subject but really cool.  Tomorrow I am meeting a customer for a close up tour of the Antonov 225 in Raleigh, NC.  This is the world's largest airplane and there is only one.  If you live in the area it will land around 9:30 a.m. and can only stay there 12 hours.  Some really cool footage at www.youtube.com just type in Antonov 225 in the search bar.  Here is a picture:
