You are starting to remind me of Tyler Durdin in "Fight Club"

Are you attending the self help classes after your 20 hour work day? Do you sleep?

I digress...........The Tampa Bay Hooters I went to.......it was just wrong

The first rule about "Fight Club," err, Hooters, is that we don't talk about. . . Hooter's.

Quote from: Matt Barnhart (kid) on October 30, 2006, 01:57:16 PMFYI, I'm still discussing this issue NOT to drag Guilford through the mud or because I think Bridgewater should or can still get the GC-BC game forfeited.  I just think it's a facinating case that's worth discussing.  That's why I'd like to hear the ODAC and/or NCAA's reasoning for not taking action.
I do appreciate that and I also think it's fascinating.  Consider this scenario:

1.  BC wins out and was also awarded a forfeit to finish 5-1.
2.  W&L beats E&H to finish 5-1.
3.  BC would be the champ by virtue of their win over the Generals.

What a dilemma.  Don't tell me that wouldn't cause an uproar in Lexington!

1. It is a safe bet that BC wins out
2. It is reasonable to assume W&L has a pretty good shot at beating E&H
3. IF it plays out like that, then BC earned the right to top spot by virtue of the win.

I think any stink that would come from Lexington would be about the ODAC or the NCAA waiting so long to take action against GC.  The reality is that the Generals got whipped and there is nothing that can be done other than win out and see what happens.

Let me ask this, does anybody really expect the ODAC to do something at this point?

I'd be very surprised.

One possible benefit of BC not being the playoffs is the ability to plan for a Stone Station the likes that haven't been seen before in Salem.

That has been in the planning since the minute Skoal & I rolled out of the Salem parkinglot, last December. ;)

I believe Llamaguy and skoaltrain were just fine with BC playing deep into the postseason and planning the "Salem Stone Station Spectacular" at the same time. :)

With Randolph-Macon and Catholic both being pretty poopoo about tailgating, it looks like Stone Station has started planning for the "SSSS" already.  With CNU losing to NCW, that pretty much takes out the possibility of Stone Station setting up shop for a first round playoff game in Newport News.

Speaking of R-MC and CUA, could Jacketlawyer, muchacho or any other Jacket or Cardinal fan let me know about both tailgating and if dogs are allowed inside the gate.

The reason I said in my last post that both schools are poopoo about tailgating is because we've had trouble even being allowed to setup anything near the two stadiums.  We were allowed to about half a mile away at Catholic, but that didn't really have a tailgate feel to it with major roads and tall buildings around in DC.

Kid, I'd like to help you out here, but I just don't know.  The parking lot next to Day Field is usually the place to tailgate, but I don't know what the policy is for visiting fans; they're hard enough to get for R-M fans  Perhaps a call to the athletic office ought to be done.

R-M is a bit poo-poo about tailgating, which is too bad.  When I was there, we pretty much rolled.

Now with the ODAC letting this slide does this open up the rest of the schools to get a one time pass for a similar incident?

I am concerned that a bad precedent is being set here.

I think the NCAA and probably the ODAC likes to keep itself from getting boxed in by taking a line of "each infraction merits it's own punishment" so they can keep favorites like F$U and Alabama while being able to hammer other schools for pretty much the  same infractions.  So for the rest of us "precedent" seems likely, it doesn't enter the strange world of the NCAA, and I am assuming the ODAC as well.

This is from the ODAC website:

http://www.odaconline.com/purpose.htm
"Adopted June 1999

OUR PURPOSE: Athletic opportunities at the Division III level provide positive educational outcomes and growth for participants, as well as other valuable benefits for member institutions and communities. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) exists to provide a framework for realizing these opportunities through athletic competition, guided by our commitment to shared values and bounded by the educational missions and institutional identities of the respective members. Together, member institutions strive to foster a climate of excellence and integrity in the conduct of their athletic programs. "

I guess they may want to amend that last sentence. What a shame.

Be careful at Macon with the tailgating and food, the campus police called the Sheriff's dept 2 years ago because we had Subs and coffee in the parking lot.  The Officer who showed up was a BC grad......................priceless.

I would be fine with the ODAC and the NCAA just issuing a warning in this case if they released the spacifics of the case.  The only reason that BC fans are crying bloody murder is because the conference has insisted on keeping its reasoning from the public.  I do have to ask that the moderator take note of the fact that fans of the school who stands to loose the most from a forfit are also calling for the ODAC to take punitive action against Guilford.  That being said if the shoe was on the other foot and Bridgewater violated the rules then BC should be punished for it just like everyone else.  The rules apply to everyone, which is the vary thing that WLU78 has pointed out is at stake in this case.

Guess that all depends on who else (besides us knuckleheads) are talking about the incident right now ;)
