Finally broke down and joined this blog. See a few familiar faces.  Hasanova....I wondered what happened to you.
I missed Stone Station last year in Salem but heard about it during the game . This year I WILL get there early enough.  ;D  With game time being 4:00 this year, every one better get their long johns pressed and ready to go. Oh course if it's MU and UWW again, I'm sure those folks will be in shorts and tees.  :o

Hey, allsky7.  I saw you giving GC some props in the Daily Dose after they tripped BC a few weeks back.  Thanks.  I'm just hanging out here, protecting the honor of the alma mater, writing a few limericks and giving some writing lessons if (when, actually) they're  sorely needed.  :)  I'm considering the Stagg Bowl this year.  It would be nice to meet you if you make the trip to Stone Station.  Welcome to the ODAC board!
He was there last year because I sat next to him for a while!!  Now, Hasa, you have got to reve up the red nova and novette and join us for a grand time.  I'm tired of begging you to come when you know it's going to be a great time.  Especially if we all get together the night before.
No promises about Friday night, olinemom, but I'll do my best to at least make the game.  That's a busy time of year, as you well know.  Hopefully, I won't have a social commitment I have to keep (reading between the lines, that's a. party at boss' house or b. party at anyone's house that Novette wants to attend.)  lol  The red '68 Nova is not the best car in the world for long distance December travel, so it may be the '04 Toyota 4Runner on this trip.  :)

Hey olinemom. Didn't know you were over here hangin out with Hasanova. I have Dec 16th marked on my calendar for as d3knowitall says: " the rematch of MU and UWW".  ;D  Guess we'll have to see about that. Wouldn't be terribly shocked if that came to pass. It would be nice if an ODAC team...or USAC team for that matter could get back to Salem. I think my chances of getting rich off my penny stocks are better than that happening this year.  ;D  I must say it is somewhat nice to see parity return to the ODAC this year. I still think your Eagles may be the best team in the conference. Well, am looking forward t these last few weeks of the season so we can get on with the playoffs. Haven't seen as many games this year as usual. Have caught quite a few on the radio or online. Did see Ferrum & Maryville a few weeks back at Ferrum's HC. Bet I was the only one there that is a grad of both schools.  ;D I plan to catch the H-SC / R-MC game on the 11th. Unlike the last few years, I think it could be a exciting game this year. Regardless...it is ALWAYS interesting. (on the field and off  ;D

Yes indeed.  While it hasn't been much of a rivalry in recent years, this game always has the potential to get nasty.  If R-M were to win, it would pretty much salvage the season, at least for the alumni and give the current players some momentum going into next year.

Doubt it will happen though (though I'd be delighted to be wrong).  I'd just rather see a well-played, close game of football instead of the borderline fragging I saw last year in Ashland. :-\

I think you are right. On paper....the Tigers should win. But as I'm sure you know, throughout the history of this series, won/lost records haven't meant much. That's the beauty of it. H-SC and R-MC records this year are less than stellar. The Tigers let one get away last Sat. against Dickinson. When you are up 21 to 10 in the 4th Q, you should win the game. With a 4 and 5 record at best going into the Macon game, I'm sure a W over the Jackets would ease their pain a little.  ;D  GO TIGERS!!
Interesting sidenote: I actually had a Jacket alum in my home this past weekend. Stopped by on the way home to Charlotte from the R-MC/Guilford game. And it was a relative on top of that. Oh.. how my family has fallen.  ;D I'M KIDDING.

Hey, Jacketlawyer.  I'm rooting for you in "The Game" for a couple of reasons.  There are about a zillion things that have to fall in place for GC to still have a shot at the ODAC title and yeah, guess what, a Tiger loss is one of them!  lol   We've got to work on this "no-tailgating" thing in Ashland, though, that's almost un-American!   :)

hate to keep dragging this out, but i just don't understand the process by the ODAC. i was always taught that "i didn't know" isn't a valid excuse.

"this player is from a south central Virginia HS less than 2 hours from campus.  Television station and printed news coverage from Greensboro extend well into this general area.  Honestly, how did he expect to go unnoticed in Greensboro and in the same conference as his preseason experience from a season ago?"
Did Guilford recruit him out of High School? - if so they should have known he ended up going to E&H

Oh, I got stopped for speeding this morning. I told the policeman I was blind and I couldn't see my speedometer.  He let me go.

You get karma for mudslinging.  Always love it this time of year!

Hasanova, appreciate the support, and we will need it, regardless of the motive of the support! ;)  Initial thoughts on this game is it will be a low-scoring affair!!  If the weather is poor, than even lower!

R-M does have tailgating, but the key is knowing someone who's a member of the Yellow Jacket Club (I am), and then riding in on their coattails.  It also takes some planning well in advance, so we have some homework/ scheduling to do for next year!! ::)

Did Guilford recruit him out of High School? - if so they should have known he ended up going to E&H

Oh, I got stopped for speeding this morning. I told the policeman I was blind and I couldn't see my speedometer.  He let me go.
As far as I know, GC did not recruit him out of high school in 2005.   And from some conversations I've had with people close to the program, he approached Guilford, told them he had never played in or attended college, applied and asked if he could come to camp.  I don't believe he ever played an official down for E&H and I know he wasn't on their roster when the Wasps came to Greensboro last November 12.

Also keep in mind, Guilford's Head Coach Kiesel got a late start in 2005, not being hired until March.  Also, current Defensive Coordinator Vite was not hired until June of 2006.  Both were from different geographic regions of the country and were, therefore, not closely familiar with the ODAC and high schools in Virginia and North Carolina.   I sincerely believe neither had heard of this player until he approached them about playing.

Does anyone honestly believe a reputable program with logical coaches would dare touch a player that had a previous association with another conference or DIII member if they had any inkling of his complete history?  I don't.  Were there some additional ways, such as the clearinghouse mentioned in earlier posts, that Guilford could have fully verified his background?  Perhaps.  Do I think there will be some additional stringent checks in the future?  Yes!  This could have happened to any school in this conference, so I hope everyone, not just Guilford, is doing a "lessons learned" evaluation.

Name the group?  And no, they still have all their original members in the band.  One dude went to play for Tool for a couple months then came back and no one really cared.  Tool and "this band" did not have to forfeit any concerts.

I may be spitting in the wind since you toned down the lyrics a tad, but sounds like "Saliva."
