Can you feel the Electricity Building?  No? That's because we are actually in the Electricity Building.

Down, but not out.

I wanted to get some input from the regualrs on the board this year on the awards for the season...Does anyone think that Todd Woods has a shot at being the first team All-ODAC Quarterback?  He has a had a solid season for the Wasps and is the leader of that offense.  He just does not do things that lose a game for you.  I know his numbers aren't quite as high as some others but Todd just gets better as the game gets closer and down to the wire.  Also wanted to know where our tailbacks stood at the top of the ODAC.  I believe both Moore and Gillespie are both averaging over 70 yards per game in E&H's ball control offense.  What about offensive lineman?  I think the only senior is Frank Lutton, but I may be wrong...Our recievers have been quiet but Brennan Stewart has to get some votes for his playmaking ability, and he just broke the career TD receptions record at E&H.  On the defensive side of the ball I think that Marshall Doss and Evan Osullivan have had All-ODAC type years.  Our defensive line has been brutal to run against all year.  Last but not least, Coach of the Year can go 2 ways: Coach Montgomery or the guy from W&L...You know who gets my vote.  Any input on our team or others will be great, id love to hear who others think should be all-ODAC from other schools.

I'd vote for Monty if for no other reason than the dramatic turn-around E&H has enjoyed this year.  Had the Gennies beaten BC, I'd vote for their coach.  I don't know that much about the individual players, but there are a few for both Guilford and W&L worth a vote!

Although there are still two weeks remaining, these would be my picks:

Coach of the Year: Don Montgomery, E&H
Offensive POTY: Chris Barnette, GC
Defensive POTY: Mark Snoddy, W&L

As far as the 1st team quarterback goes, I'd say it's a three-man race; Josh Vogelbach (GC), Jeff Highfill (BC), and Todd Woods (E&H).

So much is expected of Vogelbach week in and week out.  The offense is designed around his ability to get the ball to the playmakers at wide receiver - thus his numbers are so high.  His interceptions (24 on the year) hurt his resume.  Highfill has been the most efficient quarterback in the ODAC all season when it comes to passing the ball.  Add to that his 4.5 yards per carry and nine rushing TDs on the season, that puts him in a different category.  But in the end, I think Woods has both Vogelbach and Highfill beat.  Like ODACfan1 mentioned, he has done what he needs to do for his team to become drastically better from last year.  He takes care of the ball (only three INTs on the year) and has his team in a position to be the outright ODAC champ.

Actually, I think that was when Mr. Rich missed his assignment and Mr. Highfill scored on a 14 yard run with 2.5 seconds to go in the first half.  :)  Only "kid"ding ....

Think I will hold off on Coach of the Year predictions until after this Saturday. Both Coach Montgomery and Muriello have done a fantastic job with their programs. If W&L wins the ODAC this Saturday, I think you have to go with Coach Muriello. If E&H wins, then Coach Montgomery gets the nod. (even though E&H still would have one more ODAC game left against Guilford)

Boo hoo. You can dish it out but you can't take it.

Bottom line is the question was asked by someone else and my response to that person had nothing to do with you, and you got all pissy about it. "I take that personally."

Not to mention there was nothing that I said that wasn't based on good information, even though you tried to slander my rep because you're mad about where your team stands. You also didn't really refute anything I said, you just didn't like it.

Be done with me. I'd love to not spend my time on discussions like this. Just don't think you're going to take all kinds of shots at me and the information I present and then skate. We can keep it about the facts and be professional or take the other route ... I'd prefer it be the former. Why would you take the discussion to the personal level in the first place?

ODAC fans,

This is an interesting scenario...

If the following happens over the next two weeks:

November 4, 2006
Bridgewater @ Randolph-Macon
Catholic @ Guilford
Emory & Henry @ Washington & Lee

November 11, 2006
Bridgewater @ Catholic
Guilford @ Emory & Henry
Randolph-Macon @ Hampden-Sydney

Then these would be the final standings:

1) BC 4-2
1) E&H 4-2
1) GC 4-2
1) H-SC 4-2
1) W&L 4-2
6) CUA 1-5
7) R-MC 0-6

All five 4-2 teams would have a 2-2 record when looking at head-to-head:

BC beat H-SC and W&L
E&H beat BC and W&L
GC beat BC and E&H
H-SC beat E&H and GC
W&L beat GC and H-SC

As far as I know, all five schools would be named ODAC champs.

What would be interesting would be how the ODAC would determine who gets the automatic bid to the playoffs.  The conference manual says they would then go to a five-point tiebreaker ... but I believe using that leaves us with everyone tied again.  So we then use the "Rose Bowl" rule which awards the automatic bid to the team who has not appeared in the NCAA Division III playoffs most recently.  Both GC and W&L have never been.

I'm not sure how they would decide between the Quakers and Generals.  Perhaps the head-to-head between those two schools?

Hey,
remember when I made a similar post two pages prior and you chose to ignore that and pick a fight with me?

We could have talked five-way tie from the beginning.

Sorry if that crushes dreams, but you don't want to be living on false hopes, do you?

You're unreal.  I'm done talking with you.

Wow. Reality hurting a little today.

Yes, the reality hurts for us BC fans.  No doubt, it sucks.  We haven't been here for a while and we don't like it.

But it doesn't help that your collegue seems to have a personal agenda to come on here and stir the pot.  I'm done talking to him too.  I realize I posted one 3rd grade response to him last night, so I'll give him the one 3rd grade response to my response.  But factor that out and go back and read the babbling garbage he posted last night.  He's a journalist?

Are you done with me or not? Because you're saying you're going to be the bigger man, but then trying to get in a few parting shots.

I like to argue. I don't get my feelings hurt, but I do stay involved. Now you guys are learning why I generally avoid the boards. I like to get the last word, or at least end things cordially.

Frankly, I liked it better when I wasn't posting here at all. I'm sure you feel the same way.

But I don't know how the heck you figure you're going to make personal attacks, i.e. not give respect, and then get the respect you normally deserve. I don't come out attacking people, but if you put my name in it, regardless of whether I'm a professional journalist or not, I'm entitled to respond.

Quote from: Matt Barnhart (kid) on October 29, 2006, 08:59:42 AMLet me emphasize it's your approaches that really suck.  Clearly we're disappointed at our team's performance, which has led to our lack of chance at the postseason.  For you and Keith to come on here with your "dreams are dashed" and "reality hurting" talk is not appreciated - thus why miz says you came on here and stirred a pot.

Sure, deep down we might be sensitive, but I suppose we expect two of the main players of D3football.com to realize that and tone down your already obvious message.  I guess we are expecting too much from "tell-it-like-it-is" fellas.

You're entitled to your expectations and your opinions about my approach, but at no point did I come here to stir the pot. If you follow the discussion as it happened, I posted something here to see if my five-way tie scenario would fly, and YOU -- Matt Barnhart -- took it personally and dragged me into it.

I do not take any delight in seeing anyone's team down. I don't need to act like a big man on the boards to boost my ego. I will defend the information I have presented if it is not accurately refuted, and I will defend my reputation when it is called into question.

I apologize for not being very good at choosing words that will deliver the truth as softly as possible.

Other than that, I don't see what I've done here that hasn't been done to me. And it's really not that big a deal to me, I can let it go if you can.

K-Mack? Kid? Where are you both now?  Let's pick a spot half way for each and then you two will shake hands like Men and end this crap!  If you too were females, this would last a lifetime!  Come on....Let us move on......

e h dad

First of all let me preface my remarks about the POTY and Coach of the Year

awards. My wife and I have attended every E&H home game for the past four

years (460 mile trip one-way),so I am somewhat bias when it comes to E&H

football.

I have seen both Vogelbach and Highfill  play and they both are excellent

quartebacks. I have seen Woods make more big plays and critical fourth down

conversions this year that have kept E&H in the game. For these reasons I

believe he should be given the nod for offensive POTY award

Defensive POTY Marshall Doss.........intensity,heart, defensive team leader,

comes ready to play every game.

Coach of the Year.....This is a no brainer. Monty has had his players buy into

and believe in his system and all the hard work is paying off.

ODACfan1....Frank Lutton is one of two seniors that are offensive linemen. The

other is Tyler Haslam who started nine games for the Wasp's last season and is

seeing playing time again this season. He was named to  ESPN /COSIDA 1st

Team All South Academic team in 2005.

In regards to the Guiford situation and to quote from the movie "Animal House"

Does this mean Guiford is on "double secret probation " with the ODAC?

PEACE I'AM THE E&H DAD
