Why was Guilford's Vogelbach was named offensive player of the week over Bridgewater's Brandon Copeland?

Vogelbach: 397 passing yards, 5 touchdowns
Copeland: 217 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns

Vogelbach's yardage was the fourth-most in the conference this season, while Copeland's set a conference season high by 31 yards.

Vogelbach is the fourth Guiford offensive player to earn the award, while Bridgewater hasn't had one all season.

Now, had any other ODAC quarterback had that kind of game, yes, i can see they being the best performance of the week.  But for Vogelbach, that's par for the course.  Copeland set a school-record with his game.

Doing something extraordinary with regularity......doesn't  make it become mediocre over time.

Well, what he didn't do was throw a single pick.  That's special.

I too was in Lexington this weekend...and what a great crowd and atmosphere...The E&H faithful turned out very well to support their team...and the W&L girls looked very nice indeed decked out for parents weekend...
One of the funniest things I heard all day...was an Emory kid in an old sweatshirt and jeans yell down to a group of decked out, upper eschelon debutants..."Hey...I dont have much money...but I'm a hard worker...and I'd treat you right." Classic...I love my roots!
Emory didnt play as well as they could have...but I take nothing away from the Gennies...Their defense played very well...and bottled up our runners...and Woods made mistakes he hasn't made all year...but there again...the Gennies had a lot to do with that.
Good luck to them in the playoffs...

To BC and the other ODAC teams...I still think we are headed in the right direction...and the next recruiting season and off-season work-outs will show how far the Wasps have come in two short years...

Unbelievable point of the week....W&L only has 4 players from VA on their entire roster...that's a pretty awesome school rep...and getting on the road recruiting right there...

Good luck to the also rans in our final week of play...and good luck to the Generals wherever they may end up.

That's not just for Parents Weekend.. that's EVERY weekend!  :D   The W&L faithful don't dress down for games.. which makes for an interesting crowd.

On that note.. CONGRATS TO W&L!  For a team that has given BC a tough time for the past few years it's great to see you all come out of middle of the pack to win it all!    Just keep in mind BC is going to be chasing YOU next year so be ready to rumble come Fall 2007!  8) ;D

Good luck in the playoffs!  Be ready for something totally different than the regular season.. it's hard to explain but the excitement, the stress of each play and knowing each game will test every aspect of your team/game makes the playoffs something special.  Savor each moment because you never know when it will be over.. hopefully it will last until December!

Congrats!  I have my W&L Football shirt ready to wear the first weekend of the playoffs!

You should also savor every moment because not only do you not know when this one (2006) will end, you don't know when - or if - your school will ever go to the playoffs again.  W&L hasn't been to the postseason in 55 years.  Some Red Sox fans were born, lived to be octogenarians and then died without ever seeing the Bosox win a World Series.  Cubs fans, of all ages, are still waiting!  Good luck, Generals!  We're rooting for you.  Carpe diem!

Hey everyone,
It's been a while. Decided to look at the season stats thus far for GC. A few things that popped out at me:

- Micah rushing is avg. 7.1/carry and 40.9/ game. not bad considering hes only spent 4 of 9 games at tailbak.

- Vogelbachs stat line: 495-282-24, cmp %-57.0, pass yds-3096, td's-30, yd pass/game 344.0.
This avgs out to an INT ever 20.65 att and a TD every 16.5 att. You can rag on 24 ints all you want but I can live with one for every 20 times you throw it. Especially when you have a higher rates of touchdown completions.
   He's avg. 354 total yds/game and has 33 total td's.

- Top 5 Wr's stats:

RECEIVING           GP-GS  No.  Yds   Avg  TD  Long Avg/G
---------------------------------------------------------
Chris Barnette        9-9    94  900   9.6    9     27   100.0 - Talk about consistency.
Micah Rushing        9-7    66  602    9.1    7    46    66.9 - add to rushing totals
Joe Joyner             9-9    55  617   11.2   7    39    68.6 - Please JoJo. Come back next year.
Kevin Vaughn        9-5    35  603   17.2   4    55    67.0 - The deep threat
Carlton Hughes      9-1    21  297   14.1   2    58    33.0 - Top transfer.

Love to see how well it got spread around this year. Another all american year for Chris (first team??). Rushing and Vaughn also avg. 19.8 and 19.2 yd/KO return respectively (13 returns each).

- 3 Players avg. over 100 off/game: Rushing - 136.3, KV - 100.1, Barnette - 100.0

- Through 9 games The D has let up 29.1 pt/s game(down from previous years) and amassed 21 TO's (13 ints, 8 FR). This goes with 19 sacks and 54 TFL's. It wasn't listed, but I'm pretty sure they also scored a few times on D.

Anyway, noticed and figured I'd share a few highlights. Isn't it about time for blood to be shed as we argue over the final All-ODAC spots??

Seize the Gay!!
That's Funny.  Just like this picture.

Actually, in Latin, to what you now refer may be carpe scrotum, but that's another issue altogether.

Thanks, Trenches.  Good stuff.  Guilford's #2 Dan Presley had a school-record 87-yard interception return for a TD versus Greensboro.  I don't believe there have been any other 2006 scores from the Defense or Special Teams.

GC has been playing real well lately. The whole team has come together real strong.

I have to commend Guilford on the special teams play that has picked up the past couple of weeks. I noticed that they took the TE #80 off on offense and have now put him on special teams. Against CU he had 3 tackles and a forced fumble on kickoff!!

OK ... either your Ryan Webber's father or Ryan Webber himfelf.  A little obvious (your email address doesn't help matters).

But yes, kudos to your son (or you) on your three tackles and forced fumble! :)

With all due respect to Trenches, I still contend a lot has to do with Guilford's system.

1) Jeff Highfill's statline reads 185 attempts, 14 TDs, 5 INTs. Thus a TD every 13.2 times he throws it and a INT every 37. You put Highfill in the Guilford system and I believe you have comparable numbers. ;)

2) BC's receiver's are as talented as Guilford's, they just don't get the ball due to the fact that we have a balanced run to pass game. Brandon Copeland is currently the third leading ODAC receiver in total yards and TD's behind only Barnett from Guilford. He would compete with Barnett for top reciever if he was thrown to 10-15 times per game. ;D

Good numbers for Guilford though. I just think the spread offense tends to inflate the numbers toward the passing game, ie. the QB and WR's.
