I absolutely agree Hasanova. I am not saying that Vogelbach doesn't deserve to be the pick, just that if you look at the total package its a tough call.

As for setting those records, it takes two things to make those things happen. Number one, it takes a great QB which Vogelbach is and number two it takes a system that allows the QB to throw for 60+ attempts per game. Put Vogelbach in the BC system and you would see the wins, just not those huge numbers. :-\
I agree, llamaguy.  In defense of the Guilford coaches, however, this has been the strategy they needed to employ to go from seven straight losing seasons (with 1-9 in 2004) to 5-5 in 2005 and either 6-4 or, hopefully, 7-3 in 2006.  As odd as it may seem, there's been more offensive balance this year than there was in 2005 and maybe there will be even more in 2007.  At least this year, the Defense has also been stronger.  There have been a couple of games in 2006 where the Quakers could be "off" offensively and they still won.  That wasn't true in 2005.  Considering where we were, I like where we are right now.  :)  Depending on who GC recruits next spring, I think you're going to see a playoff-caliber team with 8 or more wins each of the next two years.

Not knocking Guilford's system at all! You do what you have to to win. ;) Just pointing out that voters only looking at the passing stats make it somewhat unfair for Highfill to be first team, especially in BC's system. Often times BC players have had to accept not receiving individual awards, but I think the wins as a team make up for it in the long run. IMO

You mean you're an embarrassed Ryan (or his father) who was asked by the coaches (or your son) to stop posting.

why are you a guest now?
GC1080, in Post 3963 of d3hoops.com's ODAC Conversation room, "I currently attend Guilford so i will be at most of the (basketball) games as well."

It's possible, but my uncles didn't go to college with me.  :)

Ryan Webber #80 did have a fine defensive game on Saturday.  Like all players, he should be aggressive on the football field, but let praise come to him naturally.  Just one older Guilford alumnus' experience.  Peace

Well said hasanova. Guess I expected a slightly smarter move all the way around there; The email, the self comment, the uncle excuse.

I want to know what ODAC School is getting the 1st Team ODAC Tailgating award?

I should know this as I'm one of the voters and our awards will be forthcoming.

Stagg Bowl 2005

I shouldn't think there were even any other contenders besides Stone Station, but I'll await the decision.  MAYBE, but Skoal, not to put any pressure on you, it needs to be the correct decision. ;) :) ;D ;D

Just curious...

Other than W&L do any other ODAC schools allow free admission into games?

Go Gennies!

Guilford charges for football and basketball, but I think all other sports are free.  Students and staff with ID get a pass to all events except NCAA playoffs (I'm not sure about ODAC playoffs).

I always have wondered why W&L didn't charge. They have a gated stadium, it would be easy enough to charge.  I have two theories.

1) W&L administration knows football is an afterthought on Saturday afternoons. By not charging, some socialites may wonder over to see what others are whering to the event.

2) W&L Alum can't afford to buy tickets to the football games.

Any thoughts?

I think W&L has such a large endowment (and tuition) relative to the other ODAC schools, they just figure it's a perquisite for attending the university or supporting the Generals.  When you have several thousand people at a football game, you could certainly make some money, but other sports, probably not.  When I was in graduate school in Business, I remember a case study about a small toll bridge in England.  It was staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for about 40 years.  Finally, someone added up the tolls received versus the wages and benefits paid to the staff and they had not even recouped 50% of their money!  Plus, they ticked off all the locals who had paid the tolls for 40 years.  I think there's a lesson here.   :)

"whering"   It took me a few seconds, but now I understand - sort of.  :)

There once were some vendors named Weirs
Where they were they were wearing their wares.
They said, "If we wear it,
We'll sell 'til we bare it.
Underwear is half off - buy two pair!"

Bridgewater does sometimes.  It just depends on who is working the front gate. ;)

1. Maybe, but afternoon attire is kinda generic. I mean tweed is tweed.

2. It's not the price of the tickets, it's the tax problems they create, I mean are they a charitable donation or a gift?

It is just easier to not charge admission.
