Off to Farmville.  GO Jackets!!!  Beat Hampden-Sydney!

4 and 6 sure does feel better with a win over Macon!!  ;D  It got so bad in the second half when it was 46 to 7 that my GF started pulling for Macon to score. Thought I was going to have to find her a one way bus ride to Ashland.  ;D

Allsky7, overall, a very poor effort on Macon's part.  There are many things I could say, but will refrain at this time.  But the bottomline, is that H-S just got after it.  I counted at least two sacks in the first half, a blocked punt, and a blocked field goal attempt. :P :-[

Bob Lipper, a sports columnist for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, wrote a decent column on the game in Sunday's edition.

I think my standard response when asked about Saturday's game will be, "at least the weather was nice. . . ." ;D

Jacketlawyer, sorry the Jackets had a tough game and long season.  Hopefully, they can get some good recruits and begin to be more competitive.  Guilford and E&H have done it, so I know it's possible.  I was talking to a few UNC fans late yesterday and they, like many Macon fans, probably eagerly await the start of basketball season.  Good luck to RMC and all the ODAC teams as we get ready to tip-off!

The Bow Ties will not fit in with Wolverine land.

WL are not rough, brutish, short of leg, little beasts, if you have it, it's mine attitude.

The rudeness will be on the harsh side of strict. That's how I remember it (from the 70's) heh heh

They will be no mercy offered, so don't offer.

Ah........ got to talk a little smack to get Skoal rolling ;)
abnrgr, my friend, reading this post is a little like reading Beowulf.  I know it has the same origins as modern English, so I recognize something every once in a while,  but sometimes I just want to read the translation.  :)  If I "read" you correctly, you think the Generals would be in for a major butt-kicking if they'd gone to Wesley - and I agree.  lol  How do you think they'll fare at Wilkes?  Will it be corporal punishment for being in over their heads, or will they perform like troopers and make us all proud?  I have to say, W&L doesn't seem to have any momentum on their side going into the playoffs, so I think it might be a long retreat back to Lexington.  I hope otherwise, but I don't have a good feeling about it.

Interesting to see no comments from the BC crew about their team barely squeaking by Catholic to finish their season. I guess you guys have already put this season behind you, and are preparing for next year.

I think Emory and Henry's win over Guilford is a good strong finish for the Wasps. They are losing some key players from this year's squad, but with the momentum they had at the end of this year, are they going to be favorites going into next year?

Good luck to W&L up at Wilkes, and hopefully you pull off an upset. However, it looks like the ODAC had a down year across the board. It looked good for parity, but I don't think our teams matched up well with those from other conferences. That was surprising given the ODAC's better out of conference record in the beginning of the year. However, I guess that can be attributed to some weak out of conference games.

Thanks Hasanova, I am looking forward to a little roundball very soon. 8)

I don't really know what to say about the football season.  I try not to be too critical, as I'm ever mindful of the fact that very, VERY young adults play these games, and I don't!! :P

But obviously I was hoping for a little bit better results this year.  I've been following R-M football for 23 years now, and losing to H-S for six straight years is a bitter pill.  Very.

Not much to say, another win to finish 8-2. As I said when I talked to Coach Ricca prior to the start of the game, "the game's outcome depends on which BC team shows up." He noted Catholic only had 48 players left due to injuries. BC had more talent, based on numbers, but Catholic played their butts off and I commend them for that. ;)

I would have to disagree! E&H loses a 4 year starter at QB with an unproven backup. Bridgewater returns 40 seniors and now know what its like to NOT win an ODAC Championship. I would be totally suprised if BC is not picked by the coaches again next August. It may be a closer vote though.

I would think injuries could have played a part in the later season losses in the ODAC. IMO
I too wish good luck to W&L and at this point a few of the "hard core" Stone Stationers may be in attendace to see it. Final decision will be made by Wednesday.  :)

Yes, I know how you feel.  GC had (and still has!) lost to a couple of teams for similar streaks, but I'm sure that feeling is greatly magnified when it's a rivalry game.  Thank goodness we have multiple sports in the ODAC so all our eggs (and balls) aren't in one basket.  Looking ahead, I think there should be some classic battles in ODAC hoops this year.  Maybe we'll see another 89-footer at the buzzer when you and the Jackets come to Greensboro!  Hey, it's not likely, but it could happen!  :)

Well, for the second straight week, there were more BC fans at the game than the home team.  Sad considering it was senior day for both Randolph-Macon and Catholic.

But yes, I too witnessed the head-stratching game.  Unfortunately, I'm not surprised.  All year - except for perhaps the McDaniel and W&L games - BC fans have left a stadium wondering if we are even that good this year.  I look at our coaching, talent and depth and think "how can we not be as good as year's past?"  For the ODAC's sake, I'd like to think the rest of the conference is just getting better - but our two wins the last two weeks (by 11 and 7 points) over the two bottom teams of the ODAC suggests our lack of experience really hurt.  Graduating 28 seniors after the 2005 season, IMO, left us with lots of holes.  Thankfully, like Llamaguy mentioned, we will have more than 40 seniors on the roster in 2007 - not to mention a talented group of rising sophomores who got a lot of playing time this year.

I'll echo the words someone posted on my fan site by saying, you know your program is where it should be when both fans and others around the conference and country are disappointed at an 8-2 season.  In my case, I'm darn proud!

Only 21 Division III schools finished with more regular season wins - so 2006 wasn't a disappointment for me!  We got to enjoy eight wins.  To put it into perspective, I noticed in Catholic's gameday program that their senior class is graduating with only eight wins for their career.  So our seniors shouldn't hold their heads low - they leave BC with 39.

Thank you my freind for letting me down gently with my torn English. That was so gracious.

I was attempting to bring the Wolverines out of the wooodwork and get Skoal started. He talks smack better than anyone on this board.

It is s rough crowd up there; perhaps a little rougher than somebody from VA has encountered. Dover!! What a lovely place.

The remark "if it's yours then it's mine". That is a Yugoslavian mind set. They are going to take it if you do not give it to them.

Yes I think the Bow Ties would have their hands full IF they played Wesley. Again thanks for the Beowulf plug.  ;)

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but I will anyway.

I thought the NCAA set the prices for tickets to playoff games. Anyone know if this is true?

I saw CNU is charging $13 for chairbacks and $10 for general admission. In contrast Wilkes website says they are charging $8 across the board. I realize Wilkes probably doesn't have chairbacks but is still not charging the same general admission price as CNU. Type of facility may come into play, but for me that is a non-issue as I never sit in the stands, with the exception of the Stagg Bowl. Just curious.

If CNU were to adopt the NCAA minimum price it would be chearper than their regular season ticket. I believe CNU has the most expensive ticket in Division III. In fact, it's been cheaper to buy a ticket to the Stagg Bowl than it has been to buy a ticket at CNU.

abnrgr -  I've never been to Dover, only Wilmington, so I don't have firsthand experience.  Good luck to W&L at Wilkes!

No complaining here though as they do have the facilities to warrent that price! As for the Stagg Bowl, I got my tix last week. ;)

Pat (I know this is the ODAC board...but htis is where the chat about ticket prices takes place). I've been roaming the boards. I thought I saw somewhere that the NCAA gets the gate. Or is it more accurate to say they get a minimum per ticket price...anything extra, the school gets?

As for CNU charging more.....I think it's ok since the Athletic Dept gets the money and the facilities warrant it. Heck, CNU has been near the top in the nation in attendance and I bet this Saturday there will be 6,000+ at the game.
