I'll have to admit I don't know everything about the financial setup of the NCAA tournament, so I'll have to pass on that. I don't know if the NCAA gets everything or just the minimum $8.

My guess is that the NCAA gets $8.....or why would CNU charge $13....to raise money for the NCAA? probably not.

.........As for CNU charging more.....I think it's ok since the Athletic Dept gets the money and the facilities warrant it. Heck, CNU has been near the top in the nation in attendance and I bet this Saturday there will be 6,000+ at the game.
Hey CNU85!  Long time no type!  I hope you are doing well.  As for them packing the seats out don't forget Emory & Henry.  Their Home attendance is always pushing 7000+ as seen by the image below.

Off to Farmville.  GO Jackets!!!  Beat Hampden-Sydney!
Jacketlawyer, sorry the Jackets had a tough game and long season.  Hopefully, they can get some good recruits and begin to be more competitive.  Guilford and E&H have done it, so I know it's possible.  I was talking to a few UNC fans late yesterday and they, like many Macon fans, probably eagerly await the start of basketball season.  Good luck to RMC and all the ODAC teams as we get ready to tip-off!

Thanks Hasanova, I am looking forward to a little roundball very soon. 8)

I don't really know what to say about the football season.  I try not to be too critical, as I'm ever mindful of the fact that very, VERY young adults play these games, and I don't!! :P

But obviously I was hoping for a little bit better results this year.  I've been following R-M football for 23 years now, and losing to H-S for six straight years is a bitter pill.  Very.

Jacket, what were your thoughts on Saturdays game off the field? There was a good crowd there as usual but I didn't feel the electricity in the air like most H-SC / R-MC games. Didn't seem to be as many Macon students as usual either. I have followed H-SC since I was a little rugrat in the late sixties but this was the first H-SC / R-MC game that I have attended in person since the 7 to 0 mud bowl I think 5 years ago.
On another note: I thought the halftime Veterans Day program was  pretty neat. I had tears in my eyes by the time they got to Taps. Too bad they couldn't have added the
R-MC war dead to the list as well.

CNWhooooooooo,

Congratulations on a great playoff season for your D3 team.  Looks like CNU could take your Viqueens, Ha!  Did you see the banner D3football.com is running about Favre's DVD.  I'll put you down for one on my Christmas list.

Back to Division III, I will be pulling for your Captains all the way this year.  Nobody else I'd rather see go far.

Good luck! No sarcasm intended except for my first paragraph.   ;D
GO BC!

CNU85

Pak,

Yes I did see the banner. How many copies did you buy? Actually, I hate to admit this, being a ViKING fan....but Favre is probably near the top of my list as far as favaorite players of all time. He just plays football and doesn't run his mouth.....the game after his father died did alot as far as how much I respect that man. Too bad he played for the pukers! In the words of TO....if he played on our team, we would have won the Super Bowl! Can you imagine Favre on the team that had Cris Carter, Robert Smith, the D of the time, and that other WR (shoot, what was his name?...Dale Carter of the Chiefs was his brother....he and Cris carter had several 1,000 yard seasons together)......I'm getting old...forgot his name!

I remember that 7-0 mudbowl.  2002, I think.  I also think that was the last well-played game against the Tigers by a Randolph-Macon team. :-\

My personal opinion is that the rivalry, as far as football is concerned, is dormant, at the very least.  This is to be expected, however, when R-M has lost six straight to the Tigers, and the H-S program under Favret has done very well.  I can't say what the cause of R-M's descent into mediocrity is, but I'm sure there's enough fault to go around.

The game was poorly attended by R-M students.  In the past, you'd have 10,000 people at that game very easily.  While talking with an H-S friend of mine, I found out there were actually more people in attendance when H-S played Dickenson. :-[  As for electricity, I didn't feel any at all.  None. ???

Like you, I was very touched by the Keysville veterans at halftime.  Having a Marine (no such thing as an EX-Marine) for a father, and a brother who spent all of 2003 in Afghanistan, obviously the military and their issues are very close to my heart.

The halftime show also put things in perspective for me.  As disgruntled as I am with R-M football right now, it's just a game.  It's not life or death, which is clearly the case in Iraq and Afghanistan. :)
