Tough crowd today - "one man's 'humor' is another man's trash."  Good luck to W&L.

This was when everyone went to the bathroom at the same time.
do you have any photos of those?  lol
Here is a photo of one of the more decked out ones!  :o

That's scary!  That's the same toilet Hampden-Sydney provided to the visiting tailgaters!!!

Kid, I recognize that game!  BC at HSC 2005.  I can see the Stone Station Flag in the background.  Along with the police and two "unruly" Bridgewater Students in the back of a police cruiser.

Jacket, what were your thoughts on Saturdays game off the field? There was a good crowd there as usual but I didn't feel the electricity in the air like most H-SC / R-MC games. Didn't seem to be as many Macon students as usual either. I have followed H-SC since I was a little rugrat in the late sixties but this was the first H-SC / R-MC game that I have attended in person since the 7 to 0 mud bowl I think 5 years ago.
On another note: I thought the halftime Veterans Day program was  pretty neat. I had tears in my eyes by the time they got to Taps. Too bad they couldn't have added the
R-MC war dead to the list as well.

I remember that 7-0 mudbowl.  2002, I think.  I also think that was the last well-played game against the Tigers by a Randolph-Macon team. :-\

My personal opinion is that the rivalry, as far as football is concerned, is dormant, at the very least.  This is to be expected, however, when R-M has lost six straight to the Tigers, and the H-S program under Favret has done very well.  I can't say what the cause of R-M's descent into mediocrity is, but I'm sure there's enough fault to go around.

The game was poorly attended by R-M students.  In the past, you'd have 10,000 people at that game very easily.  While talking with an H-S friend of mine, I found out there were actually more people in attendance when H-S played Dickenson. :-[  As for electricity, I didn't feel any at all.  None. ???

Like you, I was very touched by the Keysville veterans at halftime.  Having a Marine (no such thing as an EX-Marine) for a father, and a brother who spent all of 2003 in Afghanistan, obviously the military and their issues are very close to my heart.

The halftime show also put things in perspective for me.  As disgruntled as I am with R-M football right now, it's just a game.  It's not life or death, which is clearly the case in Iraq and Afghanistan. :)

I bet there were 10,000 people there Saturday. Problem is, at least 5,000 of them never left the tailgaiting areas.  ::)
Good point about putting things in perspective. Sometimes we take this game WAY too seriously.

On attendance, you could be right.  Richmond Times-Dispatch had the crowd figure at 7,000.  The crowd looked sparse to me, compared to past games at Death Valley. :(

Like it that you've been an H-S fan since you were a "rugrat."  Totally respect it!

As for "perspective, " I always try to keep it, but on occasion, it becomes skewed.  The Keysville Vets were a much needed correction, as were the names of the war dead.

This is weak!  No W&L folks talking about travel plans. No W&L folks talking about the big Tailgate in Philly?  No W&L folks talking much about anything.  I remember 5 years ago this board was hopping.  People booking tickets, planning tailgates.  Ahhhh, the good ole' days.

I thought the W&L Alumni and Fans on this board would be quite busy.  I can say it doesn't surprise me.  Actually I've seen more activity with Bridgewater Fans trying to make plans to support a local team.  I doubt W&L will be traveling very well.  Maybe they can "hire" or "rent" Stone Station?  We've got the experience and we accept Beer as payment. Food for thought....

Shoot, W&L fans are talking to one another with their wireless instant messenger devices about using their private planes to Pennsylvania.

What do they need this archaic message forum for? :)

Don't let those pre-law guys fool you.  Most of the Law Firms I deal with are far behind the technology curve.  All they know is the law and a little math as they tend to round up to the nearest  hour.

Come on Guys!  We need some chatter here.  I'm a lost sheep as I am still mourning my Eagles not being in.

PAk - I rememebr now...Jake Reed

Now there's a name from the past.  I had forgotten all about him.  I thought you were talking about Anthony Carter.  Jake Reed was better in the NFL.  A Carter had a great college career then fizzled in the NFL.
