In my 3rd year of coaching,,,1966,,I lost a game on a similar  play,,the rec ran a curl, caught the ball ,,started to the middle of the field,,and then hit the lateral,,,and the QB came up the sideline to follow the pitch man,,,some things don't change,,,,and I agree,,what a great fb game,,,Ohio State and Boise,,both undefeated and 12-0,,a couple of good jobs of coaching,, now if D 1 will just get a playoff we will see more great games

Shhhh, don't let D1A in on our secret, coach.  Let them have their Bowl games, and D3 will keep our playoffs...the most exciting football of all.  Although that Boise State game was amazing.  One o'clock in the mornin' and I was still up.  Geesh!

Either EMU is getting a football team or the town of Dayton has announced a new college and this is their new helmet.  My guess is EMU is bringing in Football as your jpeg name suggests.

Interesting!  Among other things, we need an eight team ODAC to avoid all the late season out of conference games.  When you only have seven, someone has to have a non-league game every week.   You have to wonder, however, if others schools such as Catholic or W&L might bolt for the Centennial or another league north of or around DC.  I hope not!  Not sure how tentative this project might be, but any idea on a timetable?  Personally, I would have expected Roanoke before EMU, but more and more colleges are seeing this as a way to attract - and retain - additional male students.  Boy, that would be a short road trip for BC or EMU!  lol

Just hearsay, but I've heard that EMU is looking to increase application/enrollment. They voted to add football and possibly even a name change to attract more mainstream interest.

Yeah, I understand.  I know a couple of colleges that have changed their names to have more widespead appeal - one with football and one without come to mind.  Baptist College (with football) in Charleston, SC changed their name to Charleston Southern and Atlantic Christian College (no football) in Wilson, NC changed their name to Barton.   I'm sure there are others.  Even RMWC is simplifying their name to just Randolph College as they go coed.  When all these schools - Averett, NC Wesleyan, Greensboro, Campbell, UNC-Pembroke, CNU, Brevard, LaGrange, Southern Virginia, EMU?, etc. - start football, it makes it more and more difficult to recruit in your region.

For those of you who paid attention to Coach Clark being called out on FootballScoop.com on November 25 about being the leading candidate for the Jacksonville University job (someone brought it to my attention), you can stop sweating:

By the way, he never even applied for the job.

Not sure why we should believe you. Aren't you just basically Clark's mouthpiece?

Don't worry, Kid.  I'd rather be Coach Clark's mouthpiece than his hindpiece.  LOL!

FWIW, I believe you.

If they kept the name EMU, couldn't they use an emu as their mascot?  The EMU Emu.  He would be almost as cool as Ernie the Eagle.

Since this is the offseason, here is another piece of worthless mascot info.  That purple thing at the Stagg Bowl that looked like a Duck on Mount Union's side is called the MUCaw.  You can all sleep better at nights now.

Too many Lions and Tigers and Bears!   Before looking at the attached website, how many schools can you identify (many DIII) with the following nicknames?  Most are unique and used by only that school.

Anteaters, Banana Slugs, Chanticleers, Delta Devils, Ephs, Flying Fleet, Gentlemen, Horned Frogs, Ichabods, Judges, Jumbos, Keelhaulers, Little Giants, Maccabees, Nads (dare we cheer Go Nads! lol), Oaks, Poets, Paladins, Quakers (only mascot with Q, but there are four -site only mentions three - three in DIII and one of them is in the ODAC), Railsplitters, Raptors, Saxons, Squirrels (also Squirrel Girls), Tartans, Utes, Violets, White Mules, Wonder Boys (one of my favorites), X - none of which I'm aware, so we'll do it in reverse - what are the mascots of Xavier (New Orleans) and Xavier (Cincinnati)?, Yeomen, Zias and Zips.

There are also two schools that use 49ers - one in CA and one in NC (hint Hwy 49 dissects the campus).

There are many schools with no nickname.  Can you name the one in the ODAC?

Enjoy!

I can name the one with no nickname in the ODAC and the ASC!  ;)

Several of the others do have nicknames, like Andrews University, the Cardinals.

Antioch, Bennington, Metropolitan State Unviersity MN and Regent have no intercollegiate athletics.

USC-Sumter is a juco that is reinstating baseball on campus.

Radcliffe is securely inside the Crimson fold, at Harvard.

Hollins and McMurry are unique! ;)
