Did you see the attendance numbers for LaGrange College in their first year?  Tell me there isn't a market for DIII football in GA!!

Didn't see the numbers, but I will say GA is a good place to recruit, based on what I've seen and read.

I was just kidding.  I just gave you two back.  Now your even Steven!  You're all right in my book even though you are from W&L.  Heck, I've got an older brother who lives in Lexington and his wife works for W&L.  They both graduated from Bridgewater.  I see him in his W&L sweatshirts and ask him how he can do it?  He looks at me with his "deer in the headlights" gaze and says "You gotta support the team."  I guess I can't fault him for that.

Bridgewater played King's in the playoffs a few years back.  They had a hell of a defense.  I remember it as the best D BC played against.  I recall we were fortunate to win the game.

I agree, pakownr97.  They had two All-American d-linemen that year, but I was equally as impressed with their linebackers.  Those were some big dudes!

In my humble (?) opinion, that was a Stagg Bowl-caliber defense they had. If that kick doesn't die infamously in the Jopson wind tunnel, who knows how far King's would have gone?

Waynesburg also gave Bridgewater a pretty good game in the early rounds one year. Sometimes the teams familiar with the playoffs do a lot of the winning, but the tournament usually spawns a pretty big handful of coulda-gone-either-way games.

I remember the kings game was a battle. they had a real tough front 7, and the wind was enough that it was tough to throw the ball at all. i don't think i even watched "the kick".
waynesburg was one of those games we refused to lose; we just knew we were going to win. i believe that was the game they challenged our best DB (stew white) on the goalline twice at the end of the game and he did what he did all year: stepped up and made the play.
ahhhhhh those were the days..... ice bags/baths during the week, ibuprofen on gamedays and celebrations out in southview...

speaking of arena league, bridgewater native and former r-mc WR matt gardner coaches for the colorado crush (ST-coordinator). his team plays at philadelphia march 22 (thurdsay)... i know a couple of people that are going to try to make it. I'll be there, if anyone is interested in some football in march

I live just a few miles from Shepherd.  They have made alot of improvements to the school and obviously the football program the last few years.  I know they used to have lousy academic standings, but hopefully that is changing also.  Maybe it already has, and I am not up-to-date with it.

Since the town I work in, Hagerstown MD, blew its chance at finally having a "real" four-year college, (long political story) Shepherd is the closest thing to it.  I hope they can improve the school's image.  From the excitement in this kid's and his Mom's quotes, it sounds like they already have.  I wish this kid luck, although we shall never forgive him for passing over our beloved BC. JK. ;D
