A change to a more pleasant topic, Hasa.    Are you coming to the Guilford double-header this Saturday?  I am coming to game #1 for sure.  We are having a tough time getting in the groove, but hopefully it will soon come.  I see that Nick Black is head coach.  I remember him as a player.  I liked him a lot.  I think I may have to bring him some brownies.  We'll see what I can manage.  I'm leaving for NC tomorrow at 10 to see the UVA-UNC series.  Tomorrow it's supposed to be Robert Woodard vs. Josh Thompson.  Should be a great game!  Hope to see you Saturday if you can make it. I'll e-mail you my cell # in case you can come to the game or want to see one of the UVA-UNC series.

A quick news update from Atlanta.   The ramp where the bus accident occurred has been revamped/updated to prevent future accidents.   GA DOT has made an effort to correct the confusing exit ramps and HOV lanes around Atlanta, which I consider a good thing.

Me, too and the coach from Bluffton finally got to go home today.  He says that they will be playing baseball this spring.  A good thing, I think.

I haven't been following this site that well lately but I would like to inform everyone that all charges in the Guilford case have been dropped from the DA. This case would never have gone that far if pursued though because there wasn't that much evidence from what I hear. I am sad to notice that the media doesn't clear these people but they are sure quick to assume things and run people into the ground about something that they aren't even quilty about. This country needs to seriously look at how it handles things because its like you guilty until proven inocent.

Good morning, Olinemom.  I got your email and contact information, so I'll see what I can do.  It's raining really hard today, so I'm not sure what the weather forecast is for Saturday.  I have some chores to do, but I'll do my best to stop by.  The Quakers are off to a rough start, but I hope things start to improve.  Yes, Nick Black caught for the Quakers - I'm sure he'd appreciate some brownies.  Safe travels!

quakes75 - I'm also glad this has come to a logical and amicable conclusion.  It does seem like a lot of damage was done before all the facts were known, but I hope the college and everyone involved can make peace and move forward.   I hope you'll be able to make some games this fall.  If Vogelbach can cut down some on interceptions, I think he'll have another great season.  :)

It was great to see you Hasa!! I'm glad that the weather improved so that baseball could occur.  Boy was it ever cold, however!!  Coach Nick seemed very happy to receive the brownies and he did remember having met me when I spoke about him having the same name as one of my brothers.  He was charming.  But with a name like "Black" he was bound to be.  My kids wanted me to stay but I had promised to be at Jacob and Robert's game.  My kids promised to call and let me know how it went.  Brad Buracker (whose dad used to teach in Page Co where I'm from) called me with the news that they had won the second game as well.  And UVA won that evening but it was 11 innings.
But let me tell you what happened today.  It was thrilling, at least for me.  I was sitting at the Bosh watching the UNC-UVA game when a couple stolled in and sat next to me.  I almost fainted.  It was ROY WILLIAMS.  I had just watched Carolina beat Michigan State the night before and he was sitting next to me.  Of course lots of people came over for autographs and he obliged between innings.  I got an autograph for my nephew who bleeds Carolina Blue, and as he didn't have a pen and the little ones didn't either, I lent him my black marker as teachers always have a pen hanging around.  I got to talk to him , shake his hand and show him the lucky stones I had made the night before for the Carolina baseball team for the Regionals, Super Regionals and College World Series.  They got them last year too and we know that they were in the finals.  So how is that for a neat afternoon?  He is a very gracious man.  Now as I have a class to teach at 9 later this morning I'll close, but I wanted to say how glad I was you came out to the Guilford game.  I hope you made some progress on your other projects as well  Please, please come up for the football game.  They do poker the night before and we have so much fun!!  I'm sure we could find you a place to stay.  Think on it,  plan it and come!!  And if Trenches and GCol are reading, you'all come too!!! :) ;) :D

Hey, Olinemom.  You're definitely a fan.  It was good to see you, too.  I live about 3 miles from Guilford, so it was no problem at all to visit a bit.  Sounds as though Game 2 was more of the butt-kicking administered in Game 1.  Either we're really bad or the Eagles are starting to come out of their early season doldrums (or both!).  :)  Pretty neat you got to meet Roy Williams.  He's a Carolina alumnus and from what I can tell he supports the other teams and coaches the same way they support him.  I'm seriously considering the GC trip to BC in October.  A lot of things can happen before then, but I'll do my best.  Hey, llamaguy, can you feed one more?  lol

Hey now, I have the Tar Heels winning it all ... but I also have State winning it all (NIT). ;)

Not I! Although if Hansborough keeps the mask off they have a better chance. One knock to the nose and a lack of defensive stops will eventually do Carolina in. You have to like a Big East or Big Ten team if they get to the final four. The refs eat their whistles and physical play rules supreme in the Final Four. ;)

Hey did you guys notice the blog on the front page. The magic carpet is on the way in Salem. ;D Maybe that contract will hold out for a few more years with the Stagg. I can hang for a few more years, but if its like last year, I may have to stay an extra day to recover! :o
