Pat Coleman

Perhaps you could get him to donate some money to the D-III playoffs travel fund. :)

Pat I believe he played a season or two for the Generals.  So he knows about DIII travel, well at least in the dark ages of the '70's! :D :D

It is nice to know that hsc has an EAGLE permanently displayed in its football stadium, appropriate.

::) ::) Back when that thing was donated to the college, I'm guessing nobody cared because the Tigers whipped the Eagles pretty much every year.  Perhaps we need to ask our Jacket friends a favor in regards to that $&@% eagle!! Or better yet, sounds like a good job for the pledges of one of the H-S frats. Dress it up with Macon fingerprints all over it!!  ;D ;D

While driving to the Post Office this morning, I took a short detour through Guilford to see what was going on at Armfield stadium (football/lacrosse).  I'm happy to report a new set of aluminum bleachers with steps and safety partitions has been installed on the visitor side.  I estimate seating for 500 and the bleachers are raised so even the first row spectators will be able to see over the visitor bench.   They're long overdue and should be a safer and more enjoyable experience for next fall's football and this spring's lacrosse visitors!

Also, a construction sign at the field indicated field lighting would be installed this spring as part of the Phase II renovations.  Hopefully, with this in place, Guilford will have the option for some night games as early as this fall.  Cool!

Looking forward to seeing those improvements as I believe we are scrimmaging at Guilford this year

nnasid - I think you and the Builders will like it.  These renovations were badly needed.  They're definitely having a positive effect on Guilford's ability to recruit.  The atmosphere at last year's games was greatly improved and a night game or two each season will only enhance that feeling.  Hopefully, the timing on the NNA scrimmage will fit my schedule and I can watch.

Just curious, isn't it about time for the recruiting class announcements to be released?

Aren't acceptance letters already mailed?

Most Division III schools don't really know who is coming until spring practice is over at the higher divisions.

A coach informed me that there is a crop of kids that go to those DI-AA, DII schools as walk-ons, and after spring practice, realize they're 4th or 5th on the depth chart, then bolt for Division III.

Not to mention that there are still a bunch of kids holding out hope that a scholarship will be thrown their way.

So in short, no, Division III schools won't really know their recruiting classes until late May, early June.

I would go a step further.  I had a D-3 coach tell me once that they don't really know what their recruiting class or even their team looks like for sure until they see who shows up the first day of camp in August!   ;)

All my best to Llamaguy and Olinemom!  Hope all is well.

Excellent point.  The announcing of recruiting lists on the Division III level isn't common because of that fact.

I guess you have to put out your press guide at some point but even early camp in August is no guarantee of what you will have come September. A few will get homesick and end up back home working for UPS. A few more may make it one semester and then transfer to State U because that's where sugar britches is.  ;D

Naw....I ditched my LT GF at the beginning of my SR year so I wouldn't have to deal with that. Ok....that's not the real reason I ditched her but it sounded good. The real reason was so I could hit on all the hot 10th grade girls.  ;D ;D
