Here's a link to Guilford's 2007 football schedule.  As discussed earlier, no times are listed yet, so I predict they're going to start a couple of the early season home games at night.   As soon as the lights are installed and tested, I expect them to fill in the times.  The lights and standards have already been delivered to the stadium, so I bet that'll happen soon.

I'm just guessing at this point, but I expect all ODAC road contests and the Methodist away game to start at 1 P.M.  I also anticipate the away games at SVU and Greensboro to start around 7 P.M.

Call it a hunch, but I bet September home games versus Averett and HSC will be at night followed by 1 P.M starts versus W&L, RMC (homecoming) and E&H.

Wow.  I must be out of the loop, but when did Southern Sem (err, uh), I mean Southern Virginia University, get a football team?  That development went completely under my radar. :o

And where ya gonna play your home games in Buena Vista? ::)

Guilford 1
Hampden-Sydney 4
Randolph-Macon 7
Washington and Lee 2

Hmm, you may want to stop using whatever source you are for your championship counts.  I'm PRETTY sure Bridgewater has six football titles, not four. ;)

The conference didn't tell you?

If the only number I looked at from that list (BC's football titles) is wrong (by two), I can't imagine how many others may be! :o

Perhaps W&L's "125 total championships" is more like 27? ;)

Jacketlawyer, my friend, I hate to tell you, but you are just a tiny bit out of the loop on this one.  lol   Since the campus in Buena Vista was purchased by the LDS and renamed SVU, they've added quite a few men's and women's intercollegiate sports, including football in 2003.  The 2007 campaign will actually be the 5th season for the Knights.  I don't think they have a conference affiliation, but they do have dual membership in both the NAIA and the USCAA.  Allsky7 guessed it - SVU plays home games at Parry McCluer HS in Buena Vista.  I'm not sure if the Knights have ever played an ODAC team, but they have played against some USASAC teams such as Greensboro last year.

Yeah, I think the list of ODAC championships is probably a couple of years out-of date.  GC, for example, is listed with 8 golf championships, but today's victory ties them with W&L at 10.  Also, GC has fielded men's and women's CC for the past two seasons, but weren't even listed.  Based on these facts, perhaps the list offered earlier is only through the 2005 academic year.

Hasa,
I hope it is only a 1 year contract! So Va backed out of a date against BC because they knew they would get thrashed. Based on GC beating BC last year, I would say this one will be a cakewalk in your favor and no other ODAC teams will be scheduled by So Va for awhile.  ;)

Hey, llama.  I hope it's only a short contract as well, but I figure since Guilford is going to Buena Vista this year that maybe the Knights are scheduled to visit Greensboro in '08.  Anyway, I looked at some scores from last year and noticed SVU only lost to Greensboro College by one point here, but, granted, the Pride had a down year.   We'll see.  Personally, when the series was dropped with Ferrum, I wasn't sure who we'd schedule, but I guess this game keeps travel costs low.

I mean no disrespect to SVU but they have a long way to go in terms facilities, etc. Perhaps being a Mormon school, they can recruit a larger area than most small schools but seems to me they still have a long way to go. I am not that familiar with the school and I don't know their academic offererings, but I can't imagine too many non Mormon athletes choosing to go there over the many other options available close by.

Thanks Hasa, I appreciate the updates on SVU, otherwise known as Southern Seminary, for those of us who went to college in the '80s! ;)
I, of course, knew about the closing and sale of the school, but haven't really paid much attention to the school other than looking at the campus when I drive through Buena Vista!

One of the reasons why I hang on this board is nearly every poster on here knows more about the ins and outs of DIII sports than I do.  I enjoy reading and learning, and the lesson on SVU is a good example.  Thanks! ;D

Well said, my friend, but I think you're being a bit too modest.  All of us - and especially me - have also learned our share from you!  Thanks for putting all that good RMC and Richmond Law education to work for the rest of us!

DISCLAIMER-- I KNOW THIS IS THE FOOTBALL BOARD---DISCLAIMER

First let me know what you consider "real" men's sports.  Soccer?  Golf?  Wrestling?  Track?  I bet Nike and Adidas would say they are, if for no other reason than the dollar amount spent in advertising and sponsorships in those sports.

Let's take a look shall we?

Emory & Henry 0
