Thanks, fallguy.  The last time I looked, Guilford had not entered any times on its website schedule, but now they have.   Up until now, I'd only been making "educated" guesses that home games versus Averett and HSC would be at night, but a quick check showed that's what's now posted.  Should be fun on Sept. 8 and 15!

I don't think thats the case with Wesley. Especially when you want teams to stay on your schedule.

Here is a pic of the new lights at Armfield.

I think 'home teams negotiate game times' is a better policy, certainly for non-conference games. :)

BrotherB: Doesn't look like a lot of light.

There are four standards in all, of course, with two more on the visitor side.  I counted 56 total lights (14 on each standard).  I know it's supposed to be a modern, state-of-the-art system, but I haven't seen it turned on yet.  If I'm in the area when it's on after dark, I'll see how well it illuminates the field.   The following link shows a chronological pictoral history of the changes over the last year or so, including new press box, additional home seats, refurbished home grandstand, visitor seating, scoreboard, exterior fencing and, finally, the lights:

The big question will be will those lights be illuminating wins once Vogelbach graduates.

Hampden-Sydney had eight straight non-winning seasons (1994 to 2001) prior to J.D. Ricca getting on campus.  They went 33-7 while he was there.  Then he graduated and they had a 4-6 season.  Guilford had seven straight losing seasons before Vogelbach came to town.  They've gone 11-9 since.

The good thing is you won't need to know if the same will happen to the Quakers for another two years. :)

Just a heads-up gang...

Yours truly will not be penning the Around the Mid-Atlantic column this year.  A good portion of my extracurricular activities have shifted to my horse racing passion.

It's been a pleasure and I'll still pop my head in from time to time, and hope to provide some playoff broadcasting services.

Stone Station - sound off!!!

Good luck, Pat.  We'll miss you, but we wish you the best.

I'm fully aware Mac was QB (and punter) Ricca's freshman year.

Ahhh, I remember that day clearly.  Yes, Homecoming.  I'd be up for the job!  If I can get the refs to call a timeout from the fence line I'm sure I could motivate some young bucks to play some football.  And yes, we won the game.  Had it come down to where we needed a timeout then I would have been outta there.
